I'm thinking about adding a USB tuner to my PVR setup. For two reasons, one to capture additional shows, but also to be able to take the USB tuner with me when I travel.

Questions:
1. What is the best usb tuner for the money?

2. Can you run a GBPVR install with a PVR 150(retail) and a USB tuner.

3. What happens if you remove a USB tuner from a working GBPVR install? Does it crash? Or cause recording problems? (I can see the obvious situation of two recordings in the same timeslot will not happen.)

4. Do USB 2.0 tuners work (well) with USB 1.1?

5. What else do I need to consider?

6. Am I just nuts? Why not buy a PVR 150MCE. (cheap)

Unrelated. Have people had good luck with NAS as a recording option? Or is it better to record to the HD and move the files to network storage later?
I'm guessing it might be difficult to record and watch off the same NAS drive. Throughput issues perhaps?

I have a MVP Version D3A and always used it with original software.
I saw the gbpvr can play dvd iso and vob's what the original software cannot.

I install gbpvr and all is ok to the menu on the screen.
but when I start a film it crashs can some one help me ?

i just wanted to know what is the best setting to record from the PVR350 that would then be burnt to DVD?:confused:

I installed a GB-PVR but unfortunalely I can't start the program.The message says: can't find WMV9 renderer.Use alternative renderer.. Anyone can help me to start the program?

How is the recording "quality" changed in GBPVR??
A little background:
- replaced Leadtek WinFast card with Hauppauge PVR150
- tried BTV & SageTV deleted them from system
- WinXP SP1

Probably need a fresh XP install - not sure!! (got soooo much stuff on this box........)

Anyway I believe when I was trying BTV I added two additional quality settings ie: "custom1 & custom2" in addition to HIGH, MEDIUM and LOW
The reason I mention this is they both show up as an option when I change the "quality" settings in GBPVR.

BTW I decided on GBPVR FOR THREE REASONS:
1) it works great - thanks everyone
2) great support, development community
3) works with Hauppauge MVP

If I copy all of my DVD's to my HD, is it possible to view directly as a .vob or an .iso?

I have daemon Tools and the approriate DVDdecrypter and such, so I can mount iso's.

Should i get a HAUPPAUGE WinTV PVR-350
or HAUPPAUGE WinTV PVR-150 Plus a Video card that has TV-out?

is the TV-out quality for HAUPPAUGE WinTV PVR-350 acceptable?


I'm trying to build a Media Center computer from my old computer.

These are the parts that i'm going pull out.
PIII 1.12Ghz
ECS P6STP-FL with VGA and Audio
128MB PC133 SDRAM
60GB HDD
DVD-Rom

There will be 512mb more ram i'm going to add.
the mainboard only has 2 PCI slots, one of them is already installed
a Ethernet card. if i want to add a video card, i will have to get a usb ethernet adapter.

I have the weather plugin and it is set to access my zip code (USA) of 54021. It then hangs (forever) trying to get weather info from MSNBC. Tried setting it to St.Paul, MN. but it still hangs.

Can't you set it to a more reliable source for weather, like weather.com, or weatherunderground.com???

Does the "export" feature of Xrecord, and rename recording work together?

I use the xrecord xexport feature in my postprocessing.bat to export my show info to a file. If I run rename recording in my pp.bat after the xexport command, will it also rename the dat file?

I know it will rename the comskip file, but I'm not sure about the export.dat

In looking at the support forum, I read in one of the threads that you can force comskip to run low priority by doing the following:

in PostProcessing.bat, put in...
start /low /MIN /SEPARATE comskip %1

I looked in my gbpvr program dir and did not see any postProcessing.bat file. If this bat file is added now, with gbpvr use it for post processing? Or do I have to configure something else to run comskip this way?
