Support For ADS Tech InstantTV DVB-T
Posted by: nutmonkey - 2005-10-24, 06:27 PM - Forum: Wishlist - Replies (3)

Hi, I have an ADS Tech InstantTV DVB-T PCI card which I believe is not supported by GB-PVR, as it is not listed in any catagory in the "Capture Source" "Recording Source" List of cards. Is there anything I can do or do I have to wait for support to be added?

Sorry if this is a stupid request.

Cheers for the help,

  Zap2it less days than requested
Posted by: pwborders - 2005-10-24, 06:26 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (10)

Ok first off I have to say that GB-PVR is a very impresive program. So far I have not had any real problems getting my two 500mce cards working and everything is recording great. I still have some work on the remote front but I am getting there.

Ok the problem. I have tried several different days settings for my zap2it requests from 13 down to 9 and I still get only 4 or 5 days worth. I have confirmed the subscription is active (until 1/2006). I have looked at the logs and it does seem to be requesting the correct range. Then there are multiple lines of receiving the data (this is from memory I am at work and the pvr is at home). There didn't seem to be a correlation between the number of lines and days though. Any setting I can add to get more information into the log, it is set to debug right now. Also is there a temporary file that contains the downloaded listing data, I would like to see what was actually received.

Note, I also use zap2it listings for a pocketpc tv guide app (on another computer) and I can get all 13 (max) days from zap2it in it no problem. I really need to get at least a whole weeks worth, otherwise searching is rather limited.

  twinhan install
Posted by: danielpugh - 2005-10-24, 05:58 PM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (23)

i have the latest version of gbpvr, but cannot get it to work.

i have two twinhan dvb-t cards. both working fine with dntv live. I have tried all bda drivers, but currently have 1.2.1.9 installed.

i have several mpeg-2 decoders including elecard, and cyberlink (powerdvd6). it is currently set to the elecard one.

it fails on downloads the epg fine.
when mapping digital channels to epg channels it crashes with an unhandled exception although it does seem to pick up the signal (strength 81, quality 96)
"object reference not set to an instance of an object"
i have seen the faq on this issue, but no parts seem relevant (no plugins)

i have set the location to south of england, redruth, and the relevant bda driver.

below is the relevant part of the log...

Repairing the timeline of an MPEG
Posted by: erik - 2005-10-24, 05:38 PM - Forum: Community Announcements - Replies (49)

Some people are reporting problems with broken timelines in mpeg files.
I put together a small utility called retime to repair a broken timeline.
One of the utilities that creates a broken timeline is comclean, that explains my interrest....

You can download retime.zip from the url mentioned below

  WinTV 878/848 Chipset
Posted by: Catglare - 2005-10-24, 05:14 PM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (1)

I have an old Hauppauge WinTV 878/848 chipset PCI card. Is there any plans to add these drivers to GB PVR? If it is already support, which setting?

  No video
Posted by: mlahrkamp - 2005-10-24, 04:03 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (1)

I'm using WinXP SP2, Hauppauge PVR500, Audigy and an ATI Radeon 7000. All of the GB-PVR configs have been left to default. When I select the Live TV, I get audio but no video. After a period of time, the system crashes and reboots. I see no way to select channels or make any adjustment. Any thoughts?

  Channels out of Numerical Order
Posted by: blip - 2005-10-24, 03:56 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (3)

Couldn't find an answer to this problem via searching...

Comcast recently rearranged my channels, so I updated things on the Zap website. Then I updated EPG. This added the new channels, but also had the old ones, so there were many duplicates. Don't know if there was an easier way to fix this, but I tried emptying the EPG, which didn't seem to work. I deleted the capture source, and re-added it. (not sure if there was a better way to do this, so I wouldn't have to delete my schelduled recordings, etc?) Got the correct channels after an update.

New Problem: when I start GBPVR and go into the guide, all the correct channels are there, but they are not in numerical order. They don't seem to be in any kind of order at all. Any ideas how to fix this? I've updated and restarted things, but no luck. And in Config, under Capture Source, the channels are listed in the correct order.
Sorry, a bit longer than I thought it would be.
Thanks!

Oh, and I'm using a Haup 150 with non-digital cable.

  Constant Timeshifting
Posted by: UtahSasquach - 2005-10-24, 01:51 PM - Forum: Wishlist - Replies (8)

Hi there sub,

I just installed and started using GBPVR this weekend. It is AWESOME! I'm trying to ditch TIVO, but that requires the cooperation of my wife and she has pointed out a few problems. I've got a couple of requests, and hopefully they will be simple to implement when you have time.

When watching a show in time shift mode, sometimes the wrong button will get hit and it'll go back to the main menu. This kills the timeshift and the buffer is lost. It would be great if the timeshift was always running on the recorder in the background, on whatever channel you were last watching. Then if you choose live TV the client could just try to tie back into whatever channel is being time shifted. This would save a lot of grief.

This would also pertain to being able to surf the full screen TV guide without losing the timeshift buffer. I could go to the tv guide and look at what other shows are on and then have a choice to just hit back or cancel or something like that and it would go back to my timeshifted show that is still being taped. Also, if I chose the same channel as what is on, it would go right back to my timeshifted show instead of restarting the buffer.

This would also be handy when dealing with recording shows. Let's say I record a football game on ABC. When the recording ends, GBPVR recorder could kick right into timeshifting mode. This would continue to tape ABC in timeshift mode, and then if the football game runs long and I'm about 30 minutes behind watching it timeshifted, I wont miss the end of the game. Also, when I reach the end of the recorded file, it would be great if the client asked me if I wanted to go to live TV or back to the recordings menu.

I'm a programmer, so if you need any help, let me know. Not sure what language this is written in, but I can always stand to learn something new. I am the same as you when it come to artistic ability though...

Lost Live TV sound from Avermedia 150M
Posted by: fiteclub - 2005-10-24, 01:21 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - No Replies

I was so happy last night. Finally got everything working with beautiful smooth pictures and great sound. Recording working great. So I decided to upgrade the nVidia graphics drivers to the newest version which went well and I went to bed.

Next morning, fired up GBPVR to watch morning news and have picture but no sound (Avermedia, with cable input) switch to satellite (Hauppauge WinTV PVR USB2) and have picture and sound. Play a recording from last night off cable and have picture and sound. This tells me that something has happened with the Avermedia card so I reinstalled drivers, rebooted but no change; still no sound. Any ideas? I would like to get out of setup and debug mode at some point have been fiddling now for a week.

Giving ASUS mbo + 500mce combo a try..
Posted by: danielpryor - 2005-10-24, 11:29 AM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (4)

I'm new to this whole PC as a tivo thing but I'm giving it a try! To my surprise I can get a card for about $140, free software, and not have to pay for services! Hooray! I'm thinking about getting a 500MCE from haupage. I had an old tv tunner card from them I wasn't happy with because the drivers sucked and locked up my computer. My new computer is an AMD 2+ GHZ on an ASUS A7V600-X motherboard with a VIA KT600 chipset with SATA bridge that seems to be compatible. I'm a bit nervous though about getting this card as I can save some money and get a single-turner card that's not Haupauge for only $40, but I"m willing to pay the extra $100 to be able to record two shows at once and still broswe the net, etc. while it does it.

If anyone has any suggestions, let me know... I'll also let you guys know if the thing works or not..be ordering fairly soon.....
-Daniel
