  Video Archive naming

I had to reinstall everything and when I got it back up and running the VA screen now shows the date a show was recorded instead of the episode name? Ive looked for a setting in the plugin to change this but didnt see anything?

  GBPVR Database... updater?
Posted by: Rich - 2005-10-24, 04:48 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (17)

Okay, I messed around with my channels on my software today (after like 6 months of everything being great) and I wasn't thinking... deleted the old Channel stuff and poof, there goes the DB... whether it was supposed to or not, I dunno... I had GOBS of stuff in there... Now it just shows since I messed with the channel thing tonight...

So this is slightly a request/question... Is there a possibility of making a program independant of GBPVR I suppose, that could select .mpgs/directories and manually add them to the database so they'll show up?

For instance, I've got my Battlestar Galactica directory... all 10 episodes from season 2 so far... I'd like to view them again through GBPVR... A proggie that could select that dir, and then just add them to the database, as though they were recorded would be great.. I don't need the episode info... I'm sure it's long since gone now... But you could have the groups remade (based on dir. name) and when the show aired for instance... Just a place holder enough to go through and select a file...

I'm sure it isn't too hard... I'm gettin' decently good at C# and .NET... but lack the database and c# skill to make my own... and I figure that maybe somoene's already found a cheat/work around?

Thanks!

  Off-air HDTV
Posted by: apotropaic - 2005-10-24, 04:38 AM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (2)

Hey eveybody, I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this or not. I was wondering if anybody here has had experience getting HDTV channels on a normal tv tunar card such as the hauppauge-250. Is this even possible?! I know my no-HDTV can view hdtv at 480i, from when I used to have cable with an HDTV receiver. But I'm not sure if it works the same with a tv tuner card. Anybody got any ideas? I guess if I need to I'd buy a hdtv card, but since I don't even have an hdtv and am just looking for better sound and better picture, even at 480i its much better picture... i'd like to try it this way. Thanks for your help!

  Power Point Plugin
Posted by: SolarCurve - 2005-10-24, 03:22 AM - Forum: Wishlist - Replies (2)

Howdy,
I haven't posted in a while and I searched around and didn't find much. I recently go ahold of several really badass powerpoints with good information I would love to share with others like on my big screen via my MVP. I would love to my my remote with forward and back functionality.

Now, I am pretty ignorant if this could work but I would be interested to try if someone thinks it's possible. I know perl / php but I haven't even remotely given any thought as to what it takes to build a module or anything.

What are you guys thoughts on this? Worth the time? Already something out there I missed? Thanks for your comments. Smile

  RssReader
Posted by: isgdre - 2005-10-24, 03:03 AM - Forum: Old Stuff (Legacy) - Replies (4)

Nice job on the Rss Reader.

A few suggestions to make it even better.

Bigger text box – I had to turn up the text size in the articles text (not just the headings) so I can see it on the tv. Currently this box is about ½ the screen size. I don't see a need to see either of the new selection windows while reading the text of the article so would it be possible to increase the box size, say to most of the screen.

Scrollable text box – on some sites I go to I don't think that even the biggest box will fit on the screen so it would be nice to be able to move up/down in the article. Currently the up/down keys move you to the next/prev article. Maybe the Chanel up/down buttons could be use.

Pop Up “Pending” box – On a slightly more annoying note. Currently life as we know it with IR remotes is a problem. It some time misses keys. That's not too much of a problem I just press it again. Trouble is there is a couple of places in RssReader were it took the key but there is a LONG pause before anything on the screen happens. Can we get a pop up box that says “Pending” or “Fetching” or anything for that matter when the RssReader is doing two things.

  1. It's going to fetch the .rss file from a web site. If the site is down there is a LONG pause.
  2. When you press the Pause button on the remote and it loads a graphic of the site. There is always a pause but it's even longer if the site has troubles.

Anyway, Those are my suggestions, Let me know what you think.

  Xrecord/CDK schedule recording fails
Posted by: venkman - 2005-10-24, 02:41 AM - Forum: Old Stuff (Legacy) - Replies (18)

Hi,
I've been having a lot of problems with the X-Record scheduled recordings. I've not been able to pin a pattern down, but in general it looks like if I run Priorityrecording.exe and it schedules a recording, then the recording service starts to spew out these:

10/23/2005 10:08:28 PM.111 ERROR [33] Caught unexpected exception: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.
10/23/2005 10:08:28 PM.111 ERROR [33] at GBPVR.RecordingService.RecordingManager.WorkerThread()

And, then the recording obviously fails. Now I've tried setting a recording through the guide (the normal builtin one) and it has no issues starting the recording.

versions of gbpvr and xrecord are the latest, and have gone through multiple install/uninstall cycles.
very confused.

Thanks in advance for any help

No sound in Live TV Mode only
Posted by: orthod0ks - 2005-10-24, 02:28 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (3)

I've gotten the software installed just fine. I can get NetRadio stations in fine and watch videos in my video library with sound, but Live TV has no sound for me. Has anyone seen/fixed this?
