I want to swap my main computer (above) for a 64 bit AMD system for my gaming and transfer the above into a smaller case for my Entertainment center. I may just end up using the processor, ram and harddrive in a small mATX case.
Can anyone tell me a good card to run with this GB PVR software that would allow me to use the HTPC as a Tivo and a DVD player? I am pretty sure that with the capture card the system should be almost complete. Any and ALL help is appreciated.
Jeff....I recently setup the remote GBPVR Network Client which requires you to change the Recordings setting in config.xml to use the UNC location rather than a mapped drive.
It appears that the space utility in Video Archiver does not like this. The stats in the Web Admin doesn't like it either but normanr is working on a fix for that.
Can VA be updated to handle UNC's as well as drive mappings?
I am having a few issues with my setup that I can't seem to get worked out. Whether it be live TV or playback of a recording, sometimes the video will get really slow for a few seconds but the audio stays fine and then the video will go really fast and catch up. I am using the NVIDIA video decoder and VMR9.
I have a wintv 150. 2.0ghz 512mb ram nvidia 32mb video svideo out to tv.
Also, when playing back a recording, If I am watching a show and decide to forward skip through a commercial, it sometimes jumps maybe 10 mins through the show or to the end or sometimes it does it correctly and skips 20 seconds ahead. Never any consistancy with it.
I noticed that Hauppague has an add on rca input connector,
that connects to a header on the card.
What I was wondering is if I could add a security camera to that port
and capture live video using a program other than GBPVR.
My cable will be connected via the coax. When GBPVR is running
does it always have control of the card or is it just when it is actually
doing capture?
ie. Can two programs access two different ports, one at a time?
Before I splurge on a Hauppauge DVB card, I am trying to get my FlyTV Prime card to work. It's a software card and I've managed to get it to work as far as live TV. However, it will not record or timeshift. I guess this is because I'm missing a codec.
I've downloaded pretty much every codec, codec pack, mux, demux, cyberlink vcr, etc stuff and no dice.
I have lots of log files I'll zip and attach if you want all of them.
Hello, is there a way to use the Video Archive plugin to replace the 'Recordings' plugin? I dont want to mix my tv recordings with my video files and I prefer to use VA for recordings.
I have an Hauppauge 150 with cable running into using the internal tuner. Would adding an external cable box to the composite input allow me to record 2 channels at the same time? Or watch 1 and record on the other? If so how would I need to set it up? Thanks in advance for any help.

I've been using gbpvr version 0.94.13 for a couple of weeks with my new MVP, but have noticed that the livetv buffer directory maintains all of the MPG files from watching live TV, and never gets cleared, thus filling up my hard drive. I made sure to disable FFDSHOW and I routinely exit and shut off the MVP device, and the MVP server software on the video server. Is there a log file or setting which will allow me to ensure that the buffer files can be deleted after I'm done viewing live TV? All functions of the MVP seem to work fine, but I need to recover the disk space from watching live TV in order to record future shows... And yes, I made sure that the hauppauge mvp server software is not running.

Wired 100baseT network to the MVP
