Am trying to tune my tuner properly as some channels are out of tune. I got correct tuning signals from cable company but it's in mhz, can anybody give me a formula on how to convert these frequencies to decimal so i can add it to my registry.

139.25 mhz
169.25 mhz
307.25 mhz

Thanks.

Using Girder: Is the idea to disable the GB-PVR remote setting?
Posted by: mixedup - 2005-10-07, 01:16 AM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (15)

Hi,

Can I ask:

Q1 - Is the idea to disable the GB-PVR remote setting when using Girder to (a) enable some remote buttons that aren't functional as I have 2005 MCE remote and (b) override some keys which are not working for me [e.g. the "PC power" key on my 2005 MCE remote tries to put my PC in to hibernate mode which is really bad]?

Q2 - I wonder whether it is possible to leave GB-PVR configured with a remote so I only have to then configure girder with the extra keys and override keys, hence keeping things a lot simpler re girder configuration? That is, this would require that if Girder matched a keypress it would process, but then GB-PVR would not process it, and if Girder didn't match the keypress then GB-PVR would process. I'm not sure if this is possible or how/where one would configure the precendence for the two remote keypress listener applications (i.e. GBPVR and Girder).

Thanks

  Sudden problem recording 2 shows
Posted by: pcostanza - 2005-10-07, 01:11 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (1)

After having problems setting up my 500mce, which has worked fine the last 2 weeks, I suddenly get 1 empty (zero file size) recording while recording 2 shows at one time. Checking the status while they were both recording it did show each were recording but only 1 did. During the recording, each shows directory was created but only 1 show a file with a changing file size.
I know I've seen something similar to this before but a forum search didn't seem to find the same problem. Does anyone have a suggestion to check this?
Thanks

Audio Stutter on DSL Cable Channels but not on FTA Analog?
Posted by: jksmurf - 2005-10-07, 01:04 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - No Replies

I know I shouldn't have, as the thing was working fine, but I upgraded my PVR-150 drivers and started getting Audio Stutter on DSL Cable Channels (Inout via SVideo/RCA) but not on the FTA Analog ones (Input via Tuner) , in GBPVR?

I then went back to the original drivers (followed all instructions about HCWClear etx etc) and the situation was still the same.

I will eventually work out the driver issue (I hope) but outr of curiosity, would anyone know what may have caused this in the first place and particularly why it stutters on the DSL channels, but not the FTA ones?

  Missing Audio with LifeView Walker
Posted by: KingArgyle - 2005-10-07, 12:46 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (2)

Sub,

Here is an odd situation that I can reproduce consistently.

1. Boot the machine that GBPVR is installed.
2. GBPVR recording service starts.
3. Scheduled recording records.
4. Check the recording, no audio.

Work around:

1. Stop the recording service.
2. Launch the Lifeview TV Walker TV application.
3. When the video and audio start let it run for a few seconds.
4. Exit out of the Lifeview Walker TV application.
5. Restart the GBPVR recording service.
6. Scheduled recording records.
5. Play the recording, and now there is audio.

I'm using the DIVX recording option, with MP3 audio. Haven't tried this with MPG as the recording format.

This is consistent since at least 0.91 version, and I can repeat it at will. If I don't stop the service, run the TV Walker application, and then restart the service, there is no audio. I only have to do this situation once, until the machine is restarted (which for me is maybe once or twice a month).

It's more of an annoyance, but is huge on the WAF list, especially when some of the programs she watches doesn't have audio.

How to pass name prefix in manual recording?
Posted by: linfor - 2005-10-06, 11:59 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (1)

I have to set a lot (over 15) of manual recordings because the spanish language channels always start 3-30 minutes off the listed times. I assign the name prefix when I set the recording however in the pending and reocurring recordings list it still just show "manual recording" instead of the name prefix. This is very frustrating when I need to update the time for the recordings as I have to go through each listed item to see which is which.
How do I get the name prefix to show in the pending and reocurring list?

  XMedia Rev29 feedback
Posted by: BobAtTorrey - 2005-10-06, 10:55 PM - Forum: Old Stuff (Legacy) - No Replies

Tipster,

I just loaded XMedia DX Rev 29. Kudos for your improvements and thanks for all your continuing hard work. Also, thanks for the automated installer.

I don’t use that many plugins, but I want to report a couple of bugs, and give you some general feedback. (In case it’s relevant, everything I do is via the MVP with its remote.)

XSearch
The ‘button glossary’ (where you show what the colored buttons do) is missing. E.g., Blue toggles keyboard/list, Yellow changes the list-type.

XRecordings
Here the ‘button glossary’ is on the bottom, whereas in XGuide it’s on the top. I think it would be better to standardize the location so the non-tech (impatient wife) would always know immediately where to find what special buttons work.
The twisted/fluid/swirly-effect green button” makes text almost impossible to read. For example, from Ready, go right , click OK, and highlight a recorded episode. The yellow text is very hard to see because of the light/yellowish highlighting of the green button. IMHO, this twisted/fluid/swirly effect on the buttons isn’t a good idea in general.
If you now click OK on an episode, it pops up a window with options of what to do with the recording. I don’t understand the logic of having the window divided as it is, with the top fourth darker blue and the rest a medium blue. Unfortunately, the episode description runs from the top/dark portion into the bottom/lighter portion, so it makes it look as if it’s an accident.
Also, this window is translucent, as are several others. So the Button glossary at the bottom shows through the pop-up windows, even though the buttons don’t work in the pop-up window. I think you’d be better making most of the pop-up windows opaque.
One way to make pop-up windows more distinct would be to have a more distinctive border on them.

Bug: If on an individual episode, I press the “Rename” button, the system aborts with the error: “The given path’s format is not supported”

The “Freespace” window has a divided-up pop-up window, as described above, with similar issues.

Same with the “Manual” window.

The “Watched” window highlights the recording title with a highlighted blue square. This is inconsistent with the green buttons appearing in every other place. HOWEVER, notice that the text in this blue button is FAR more readable than text in those twisted/fluid/swirly green buttons; there’s a lesson here.

Music Player
In Icon mode, text to the right of the big album cover (artist, and track count) is too small, I find.
Similar to above, the twisted/fluid/swirly green buttons highlighting the list of albums make the text harder to read than it could be.

If you highlight an album which has an album cover, each of the tracks are also displayed with a smaller version of the same album cover. IMHO, this is unnecessary/redundant and makes it look overly cluttered.
May I suggest another layout to this icon view of an album: Display the album cover as it is, then display the tracks in a vertical list to the right of the album cover, and move the artist and album title to below the album cover. I think it would look cleaner. ( I also don’t think it would be a loss if the album cover were made just a bit smaller, which would also make more room for text.)

In List view, rather than Icon view, I think you could afford to make all the text larger.

FM Radio

Bug: pressing the ‘Add’ button causes: “.\skin\XMEDIA\fm radio\...\images\popup_dialog2.png”

Bug: Same error when I hit the ‘Edit’ button

Theater
Start from By Theater, and select a movie, which brings up a window containing the description. This window has all the same issues as cited above under XRecordings. The translucency at the top is particularly bothersome where the underlying “theaters” shows through the swirly green ‘Review’ button. Hit the Review button and the problem is even worse. The first line of the review text collides with the “movies now playing” on the top of the window, and the text in this translucent window is atop the base Theaters window. It’s a jumble.

Weather
You show the Down and Up buttons at the bottom right of the screen, showing that those buttons are effective. However, you also show the left and right buttons at the bottom left, even though they seem to do nothing on this plugin.

Tipster, I hope the feedback and suggestions are helpful. Again, so many thanks for all the effort you put into this product.

Cheers .... Bob
