Using the latest release and it's the best yet, love it!
But..
Something that bugs me occasionally is when I go to set a recording but can't because it overlaps with another by a small amount, usually 5 minutes. Channel 4 in the UK often have programs that start on the hour but finish 65 minutes later. It would be great if when this happens I could have extra options of 'record anyway (i.e. start five minutes late or finish 5 minutes early)' or 'Change the one it overlaps with by reducing by 5 minutes at start or finish'. At present I have to go and check the times of what it clashes with and then make a manual recording to suit. Chances are it's only adverts that will be missed most of the time anyway.
Does that make sense?
Thanks for all your efforts so far.
Wish there was a plug-in that will enable each GBPVR instance (whether on MVP or PC) to communicate with each other via a TEXT/CHAT box. Imagine being able to ask for a sandwich from the wife who is watching in the living room while sitting down on your PC in the basement. Texting can be done by the telephone keypad of the remote control.
An idea for plug-in developers. This will definitely set GBPVR from other PVRs.
I'm not at all sure this is the correct place to post this as i don't really know where the problem comes from.
Since all the talk about skins i've been trying several just to see. Normally i only use the mvp but it's easier to just pop a skin on the pc for a look. I've been using GBpvr's feature to use different skins on the pc and the mvp.
Whenever i have that feature enabled i notice that whatever task image is enabled in the pc skin is also the same one that shows up on the skin chosen for the mvp but only for the weather plugin.
For example if i have the bluemce2 on the pc and the flat blue hi vis on the mvp the little blue guy with the umbrella shows up on the flat blue hi vis skin.
This only happen in the weather plugin, all the rest show as they should
I'm only asking because it's currently on tremendous sale at Buy.com for only $29.99 after $50 mail-in rebate. My son is a little jealous of my GBPVR system, but he only has a lowly software based Hauppauge card in his system. I though this might be a cheap way to get him up and going with a nice GBPVR system. Heck, it even comes with a remote control.
At that price, I don't mind buying and trying if no one knows for sure that it will NOT work.
I had asked about this one beofre, and just curious if it may be coming in the next update.
This is just the ability to hit record while watching something, and then exit to the guide w/o stopping the recording. It's only that it's a pain to mute the sound and leave live tv on all night if you're doing it before bed.
I'm planning to start assembling my first HCPC shortly and am trying to figure out what kit I need to buy.
I currently have quite a nice, quiet living room PC running an Athlon 2500+ processor, a Geforce FX5200 video card and attached to a 15inch analogue minitor. I have a small old CRT telly, a nice AV receiver and speakers and a Humax 8000T PVR which also acts as a Freeview box.
What I'd like to do is get a decent LCD TV say 26-32 inch with DVi input, a 19inch digital monitor and then connect all ofthese to my PC running GBPVR which seems to be the best free HCPV solution.
My questions are?
1 What video capture card would you recommend? I'm not keen to subscribe to Sky so would like Freeview functionality. Does that mean I need a Freeview video cature hard such as the Hauppage Nova T ? or can I buy a cheaper analogue card and plug my Humax into that to watch Freeview? I'd also like to be able to watch and record different Freeview channels at the same time. Does that require 2 digital cards? or 1 digital card plus my Humax??? The Nova T seems to get poor views mostly becasue of the poor software. If I install GB PVR do i not need to worry about the poor hauppage software?
2 What graphics card would you recommend? As i understand it to get decent picture quality out of a new LCD TV I'll ned to attach it to the PC via a DVi card. As my old FX5200 doesnt have a DVI output, I assume ill need a new graphics card. I like the idea of a dual DVi card so that I can attach both my new LCD Tv and my new monitor to the card. I'm struggling to find a mid range card which does this. My motherboard uses PCi slots rather than PCi Express. Any recommendations? I play the odd game but am not heavily into gaming so don't need a top end card.
3 Any recommendations for a digital 19 inch mnito and a budget 26-32 inch LCD TV would also be appreciated.
I was woundering if there is software out there that would turn a laptop into an MPV client. When you look at what an MPV is it's a laptop just beefed up version and has all the hardware components of an MPV client +plus. I have an old laptop and instead of buying a MPV client then plugging that into a wireless network box, I could just sit my laptop next to the Tv in the bedroom and connect via s-video and bang away you go ?
It would be cool to have a GBPVR client interface that would connect to a main GBPVR server and run multiple clients ?? with some restrictions mainly for live TV, but if you had multiple tuners you could allocate one per session. even from a handhelp pc ?
I just updated to .94.13 from .94.12 when I did this i noticed I lost all my MVP MAC settings. (X & Y Offset, Height, & Width) Plus the secound MAC address add we completly wiped out. It was easy to fix since I backed up all my files before the upgrade. I was just wondering if this is normal.
