  IR Blaster Issue
Posted by: zaldwaik - 2005-10-14, 06:23 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (4)

I am using regular cable with sat receiver through my PVR-150. Sat channels come after 99 on cable and play fine. I move between channels using IR Blaster which sends the channel number to the Sat receiver, it is slow but it works. However, when I schedule a recording, unless the target channel is what is playing on the Sat receiver, GB-PVR will not switch to it and record. It will record whatever coming from the receiver. I have to have the receiver on all the time to record, but if I leave it on the wrong channel, the recording will not work as it would with cable channels. Is there a way around this? Especially that I cannot record programs from more than one channel unless I do a manual switch.

Aspect ratio problem when playing wide screen DVDs
Posted by: zaldwaik - 2005-10-14, 06:22 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (2)

Let's me start by saying that GB-PVR is a great system! The first system I encountered that is worth donating money!

I am using GB-PVR as my DVD jukebox. I am using Cybelink PowerDVD for video and Audio with overlay (best setup for me). Everything works fine with live TV and recordings with regards to aspect ratio. However, when I play DVDs, some 16:9 DVDs play in 4:3 distorting the picture. F7 does not work when I am playing DVDs (I am using My Videos plugin). I have a wide screen TV and all my DVDs are wide screen. All DVDs play fine if I use PowerDVD outside GB-PVR. There does not seem to be a consistent pattern for those that do not play well (old- Antz and new- Shrek2). I am also not able to access any of PowerDVD controls within GB-PVR.

I have been using GB-PVR for few weeks, every week I discover a new jewel buried in the application, so far I have been able to fix or work around most of my issues, but not this one.

  Comclean for DSM-320
Posted by: David - 2005-10-14, 06:17 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (9)

I've been using gb-pvr to record shows, and it does a wonderful job. It's been fun installing and getting all the various utilities working. I record most programs at medium and some at low quality.

I use TVersity media server to serve the recordings to my DSM-320. I just made a windows share of the recording directory and mshared it in TVersity.

Unfortunately, the DSM doesn't do well with Fast Forward, so I have been trying various combinations to have Comclean strip out the commercials for me. If I understand it correctly, it seems that the mpgtx utility is not able to cut the mpg files correctly because the pvr-250 hardware encoding results in frame breaks of less than 1 second (works too good). The result is that the commercial breaks are stripped out, but the DSM-320 gets hung up at those spots for a duration that seems to be about the length of the original commercial break (It feels longer since nothing is happening). Re-encoding the file to avi using mencoder seems to fix the problem about 50% of the time. I've played around with various parameters, but can't find a more optimal solution.

I want an automated process and don't mind that some commercials get through. Does anyone have a working solution? Suggestions?

Comskip version 0.77 build 58 : Visual cutlist editor
Posted by: erik - 2005-10-14, 06:13 PM - Forum: Community Announcements - Replies (3)

Today version 0.77 build 58 is released.
One important added feature is the ability to use Comskip to edit the cutlist.
Drag and drop the .txt file onto comskip.exe. The debugwindow will open with black bars below the video where the commercials where detected.
Look in debugwindow.rtf for the editing commands.
It can be downloaded from http://mk.kaashoek.com/gbpvr/comskip77.zip

Have fun!

  mpeg with no audio
Posted by: roy - 2005-10-14, 06:04 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (12)

I have a newly set up system using GBPVR with a PVR150 and an MVP. Everything has been working well until last night when....

GBPVR woke my machine and recorded one show for an hour (Alias). This recording has no audio. GBPVR also recorded the next show on the same channel (Night Stalker). This recording has audio.

It seems the audio wasn't captured on the first recording. I suspect the wake from standby caused a problem? How can I determine if there actually is any audio in the file? And how do I prevent this from reoccuring?

Won't help the WAF if I have to read their lips. :o

Love GBPVR and this board
Thanks

  Not getting all the channels
Posted by: danju - 2005-10-14, 05:03 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (1)

I get clear video with SF Bayarea channel 2,4,5,7,9,11 (thru antena), but snowy/static with 20,36,54.
Tuning Assisant didn't help.
Wintv32 is able to get all the channels fine.
Does anyone have suggestions on what to try next? THanks,

  Adding Channels
Posted by: Murdock - 2005-10-14, 04:33 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (4)

Hello All
I first off want to say GREAT Job On A Wicked App..!

I have been trying to add in a local channel that I get on my DirectTV system.
The local channel is 5 when I add this channel and give it a name it is correctly shown in the channel line up in the config app.

"Channel Name" = '5 WOI'
"Enabled" = 'Checked'
"Source Chennel" = '5'

I then update EPG.

When I look at my TVGuide it shows the channel as 2148 Not 5

What am I doing wrong...?

Thanks..!!!

  GB-PVR Up And Running Smoothly
Posted by: lajams - 2005-10-14, 04:06 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (1)

Hello, just wanted to get my first post out here.

I've followed these forums for awhile, and finally picked up a PVR150 to do TV recordings (was using a cheap Leadtek card for proof-of-concept). So now I've installed GB-PVR on my media server and the PVR150 and all is up and running. I'm sure I will have questions, but just wanted to post a little praise for the Sub, as the install and config went very smoothly and is operating very very well so far.

What a great product! A donation will be coming as soon as the wife "signs-off" on it. Wink

  DivX on MVP questions
Posted by: katit - 2005-10-14, 01:41 PM - Forum: MVP & NMT - Replies (6)

Hi!

I'm newbie who just bought MPV and ready to proceed with gbpvr.

I wonder if I can avoid "letterbox" issue on a fly using avisynch?
Does gbpvr understand avisynch files and able to send them to MPV ?

Maybe there is a plugin which uses avisynch and automatically analyze files to play?
