Hey Guys have you found that Live TV stops upon entering into it (on the Media MVP). You even see the green stop button in the top right hand corner, then to get it going you have to press the play button again.
Has anyone figured out a way to get around this so when you go into Live TV from the main menu you don't have to press play?
Sub,
I upgraded to 94.13 and experience the following:
I tried out TV stuff -- fine. Later I tried FM radio. I selected a station, hit Play, and got sound. It didn't sound like the Oldies station I selected, but sounded like TV. I went to Live TV and sure enough, the channel LiveTV started on was the sound I was hearing when trying to play Radio.
I went back to FM Radio, and got the same thing -- i.e., the TV soundtrack. I checked GBPVR 'Status' and it said the 2nd tuner was set to FM Radio.
I have a PVR500 with FM tuner. The first capture device is the 1st TV tuner, the 2nd capture device is the 2nd TV tuner + FM radio tuner.
Any ideas?
I've attached a .zip file with all the log files.
(Incidentally, the reason I included ALL the log files is because I don't know which log file records what. Could you please point me to something which describes the differences between the various .log files?)
I get no picture (live TV just a blank screen) after the comp woke up from hibernation mode. Does anyone know why? I am using ATI 550 Pro card. I haven't tried recording after hibernate tho.
Well, I recieved my replacement ATI 550 card (powercolor) and set it to record last night's Daily Show. When I watched the recording today, the sound suddenly cut off two minutes into the broadcast and remained off for the duration.
I have done a little trouble shooting and have found that the same occurs when watching live TV and also when using the provided cyberlink powercinema software. Therefore it is not an issue with gbpvr, but perhaps with the ATI driver? It seems very strange to me that it would work normally and then stop suddenly. If I restart the program the cycle repeats.
any thoughts?

I currently have dial-up internet service but want to make the move to broadband (Roadrunner). Currently, the coax connects to my tuner card (Hauppauge PVR-150 PCI) for cable TV and telephone line connects to the telephone jack on my PC for internet. If I go to cable broadband, how do I connect the cable for internet access yet retain the cable TV to my tuner? Will they have to split the cable and run it to two places?
I've noticed when i record stuff it tends to be interlaced..I know this would be fine on my tv...Media Player Classic doesnt show interlace but VLC does and WMP..... Can i record without interlace...Is there an mpeg editor(free) that will de interlace it
I have a SA explorer 2000 digital cable settop box that i would like to get to work with my hauppage pvr-150 ir blaster connection.
However, the ir blaster config program that came with the card doesn't appear to be able to communicate with the settop box.
I've scanned through all the code sets to no avail!
I'd like a recommendation for a remote control to use with GBPVR ( have Hauppauge 500MCE, so no joy there ).
The very long version:
About three months ago, I began looking into building my own PVR, and GBPVR was my very first stop. Easy to install ( XP Pro, on Dimension 2400, nVidia PCI graphics card ), capture card configured fine, and I then ordered the generic MCE remote from NewEgg ( I'd provide a link, but apparently NewEgg doesn't carry them any more... wonder if there's any connection ... ).
After working with this setup for a while, I was nearly happy with the results. GBPVR worked well, but I never could get the remote to be anything but flaky ( red light would light up on the receiver, but response would be sluggish or non-existant, with the occasional double- or even triple-responses ). There was also the very rare, but still occasional, reboot for no reason at all.
So, with a sigh, I reluctantly reloaded the box for MCE, to try the official MS solution. With a 30-day trail ( before required registration ), I figured I could see if a more expensive solution would work better. In a word, nope. MCE blue-screened fruequently ( at least once a day ), remote was still flaky, lots of other trouble. Best user interface I've used to date, but much less reliable. Even splurged by trying a second machine briefly, in case the 2400 with a PCI video card ( no AGP / PCI-e slot ) was unsuitable. Still no luck.
Grumbling about having to deal with Linux, I finally dug out MythTV and gave it a whirl. Extremely complicated setup ( even following guides and HOWTOs ), lots of options, a pretty-good-but-still-complicated UI, and still the occasional problem: this time it was MythTV would choose to record audio sometimes, but not others. Later, it switched to recording audio on the first tuner most of the time, and never on the second tuner.
Somehow, my wife didn't find it funny when Jeopardy! would record without audio. It made finding out the answers a bit more difficult.
So, back to the original drawing board. Remembering that GBPVR gave me the least trouble of the three, I reloaded XP ( home this time ), got everything working, and I'm now back in business. Two minor problems this time so far:
1) Whenever I start decoding ( watch TV or recorded show ), I have at least a five second lag before playback starts. Annoying, but liveable.
2) The remote, despite my best efforts to make it work better, still is flaky as all get-out. Now that I've tried four different installations, (XP Pro, XP MCE, Fedora Core 4, and XP Home ), three different drivers ( MCE drivers, MCEIR custom drivers, and Linux drivers ), three different PVR software setups ( GBPVR, MCE, MythTV), two different computers, I've decided that the common factors with the flaky remote are (1) me and (2) the remote.
Since replacing me isn't an option, I've decided to replace the remote. Anyone have recommendation for a remote that's easy to configure and relaible to operate?
- I've resolved the problem when using DVR-MS in timeshift mode - had to run graph edit and render a media file - change the merit values of the decoders I wanted to use with radlight as my selection within GB-PVR didn't force my choice. Now all is good except ....
I've noticed that when the end of the program occurs (whilst using DVR-MS) GB-PVR doesn't jump to the next recording, hence it doesn't continue to play timeshifted TV - it just freezes/pauses at the end of the file.
When I select the Cyberlink Mux the Timeshift does continue, however sometimes it freezes - where I simply hit pause/play a couple times and the file starts to play again.
Question - is there a buffer entry that I can increase somewhere to help with the transition of recording files. Or has anybody experienced the same and fixed it another way?
I'm probably just overloading my machine, but I recently enabled the Comskip options after upgrading to GBPVR v0.94.13. Everything worked great -- excellent success rate at marking the commercials and such. However, this was also the first time that I encountered choppy video where about 5-10 seconds of video seems to be playing at a faster speed. This was on 5 different shows on three different channels and the choppy stuff showed up seemingly at random throughout the entire 7-hour recording period. .
Now, admittedly, I'm running a P4/1.8ghz, 512mb RAM, one 160GB hard drive (internal and another 200gb external as needed), a PVR150 and a PVR500 (so a total of three tuners). In my recording schedule (especially this day I'm talking about above), all three tuner cards could be recording at the same time. I did notice that with three instances of Comskip running, my CPU is bogged down quite a bit more than usual, even with three cards recording at the same time. Am I probably just overloading my system with this type of recording pattern + the additional burden of Comskip? Is there a better way for me to use the Comskip function that won't result in the video problem?
