OK, I finally was able to reproduce the bug. I thought it was due to the latest version, but I was able to manually reproduce in 0.93.10
Here's what happens. If you switch channels back and forth when watching live TV (on the MVP in my case, haven't tried to reproduce on the PC, but I can if Sub needs to)
When you watch the 3rd or 4th channel you end up on, you let it play, and after a while, the MVP shows a black screen, for a couple of seconds, until your video returns. At this stage, if you press the blue button, you see in the progress bar at the top that your current recording is now 30 seconds long. The 30 seconds play fine, then the MVP playback stops again, and we start over for another 30 seconds
I have attached the logs. The problem happened while trying to watch "Whose line is it anyway" around 8:48 PM and again 9:04PM on Oct 10

By the way, I have the exact same behavior in the latest version, which was what prompted me to fallback to 0.93.10 originally.
Great program - all seems to work for the most part. Have noticed that I frequently (almost everytime) get the "Object reference not set..." error message when I touch the PC keyboard or mouse to return it from the GBPVR screen saver. Attached is the log file if it helps.
Just wondering if anyone has some suggestions for an nlite configuration for GBPVR.
I tried a couple of XP installs, but I seem to have removed too much; GBPVR threw errors left and right.
Some disposable components are obvious (MSN Messenger, Outlook Express). I'm looking for a way to make a nice lean Windows install without breaking anything I actually need
When watching Live-TV and suddenly want to record current program for a few minutes (one story from evening news, etc.) and after the clip pressing stop button:
*) stops recording and also stops Live-TV and returns to menu. It should continue to show Live-TV, recommended in that state as it was before clip recording (when it was in live preview mode, it should return to live preview, etc.)
*) When recording clip from news with start time 19:00 and stop time 19:30, but clip start was 19:07 and stop 19:09, it should show up in recordings tab with actual info from what time it started and when actually ended. So in current example it shows info as it would be 30min long recording, but actually it was only 02min long. It would be nice if info tab shows both, show start and stop time and recorded clip start and stop.
Is there a way to modify the Special Elements in the skins, for instance the clock on the main menu. I have a 5 year old CRT TV that I'm using and the resolution isn't that great. I'm using the BlueMCE skin but am modifying it so I can read everything on the clunker I'm using. On my TV the clock on the main menu is a bit of a blur in the top left corner.
I have gbpvr V 0.94.12 and WinXP/SP2. I can't find the answer to my question in the manual or elsewhere.
Question: Sometimes, I desire to stop or kill a recording before it naturally finishes. What is the correct, or best way to stop recording without breaking something? I want everything to work for the next scheduled program.
I downloaded the GBPVR two months ago. Until now Iâm very impressed how much you can get as freeware. Basically I got interested in GBPVR because of the MVP server facility. However, for the time being Iâm not using the MVP and want make GBPVR reliable enough to be used by the rest of the family.
Right now Iâm struggling with two problems that have to be solved:
1 â The DVD bottom has diapered.
I switched it of under plug-ins in the GBPVR configuration. After a short time I turned on again, but it never came back in the main menu. I have also checked the box âshow DVD bottomâ in the DVD/remote menu.
2 â DivX movies do not work.
It simply will not play the DivX movies. It looks like it will start, but the screen remains black.
I have, as recommended in this forum, uninstalled the divx codex and installed the FFD show codex. I did not help.
After months of researching the topic, I finally built my first PVR. Well, sort of. First of all, thank you so much for this wonderful piece of software. Truly remarkable!
My PC works both as my PC and as the PVR. Hence, the natural choice for me was to go with MediaMVP. I read many reviews about it and about how good the quality of the picture / sound is so I decided to give it a go. I have a few comments/ suggestions about it:
- Divx play: I don't know if it is a hardware limit, but why does my widescreen movie clips appear on the top portion of the screen? Is anyone else experiencing this? Like instead of two black bars (one on top the other on the bottom) I get the movie on the top portion of the screen and just a huge black bar on the bottom.
- Sync: If you forward or rewind your clip, it seems that audio and video go out of sync. Anyone else getting this?
- Volume in Playing Music: When I try to hit the Volume UP key on the remote, the cursor goes to the right instead of increasing the volume. Is there a file I can configure to assign the volume to some other key? I noticed that volume works fine when outside the Music section (even if an audio file is playing).
- I don't know if it is a MediaMVP limit, but it will be cool to select a folder and have the system play all files in it (and all subfolders). This I guess is espcially useful for us Ipoders since our CD catalogs are automatically arranged in directories and subdirectories.
- Does MVP support 'resume' on video clips?
Like I said, the system is flawless on my PC, but I guess perhaps MVP has a limit. Are there any alternatives anyway to MVP?
:confused: I'd like to understand if I can map my EPG to my fta receiver and be able to change channels on the receiver using the EPG. Is this even possible? If so, how is it done? What components would I need and what additional software?
I downloaded the 2 necessary zip files from the WIKI, extracted (installed) in the required GBPVR root dir (with default folders checked for skins, plugins dirs etc), it comes up in the Config OK, I can choose and set the settings, but it simply doesn't appear as a menu item on the Screen (yep, I have it checked as an item in the Config). Does it still one of the other MyPlugins to work as indicated in an old post?
