  fancy powerstrips
Posted by: gomjabar - 2005-10-09, 06:32 AM - Forum: Hardware - No Replies

I was browsing bestbuy and noticed they have "home audio" powerstrips. They are 30+ dollars and claim to give better picture and sound. Right now all I have a 6 buck powerstrip that only gives me enough plugs. Anyone have a good powerstrip and does it make a difference?

EPG Update not getting all days
Posted by: ram4x4nut - 2005-10-09, 06:11 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (1)

Hi all,

Just a quick question... What is the maximum number of days you can reqeust from zap with an auto update? I put in 14, and it is reflected in the .xml file. When an auto update occurs the logs show that it is only attempting 4 days! If I do a manual, it gets all 14 days ... Is the auto update not using the info in the .xml file? Why would auto go after 4 days when manual will go after 14?

From my log:

Requesting listings for period: 2005-10-19T00:00:00Z - 2005-10-23T00:00:00Z

I have the parameter set to 14 and the .xml file shows:

<Zap2itListingDays>14</Zap2itListingDays>

Why is it only going after 4 days?

Thanks!

  VLC Help
Posted by: KingArgyle - 2005-10-09, 05:12 AM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (3)

Having some problems with VLC and the Web Admin. If I navigate to the video directly and play it with VLC it plays fine. However, when I try to play with the web admin, and launch VLC on the m3u file, no audio or video is shown, but the time line moves.

Any ideas??

Update available at http://gbpvr.com/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Plugin/MusicPlayer

Unfortunalty I did not keep a good list of what changes I made this time, but I know that I have made small tweaks and bug fixes along the way.

  New Zealand TV Channels
Posted by: csy - 2005-10-09, 04:06 AM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (1)

For those who live in New Zealand, and wish to use "Antenna" input on your TV card, you will notice that the Tuning Assistant will only scan the VHF channels (PAL B) and miss the UHF channels (PAL G). This is because Microsoft Directshow only knows the NZ PAL B channels, as per:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/defaul...ealand.asp

If you wish to use "Antenna" input and scan all valid channels, then you can override the default directshow listing by applying the following "Tuning Space Zero - Antenna" registry key. After applying the key, re-scan using the Tuning Assistant and note down the channel numbers of the stations and enter them into the gbpvr recording source, and reboot for the setting to take effect. If you already know the "real" channel numbers of the TV stations you can enter those directly into gbpvr, but note that the Tuning Assistant still needs to be run to detect the active channels.

Note this should not be applied if you are using "cable" input or using an external tuner.

The channels listed below are a complete listing of all NZ Broadcast TV channels. The dword's are the frequencies in hertz and converted to hex.

Use of this registry key is at your own risk, and should only be attempted by experienced registery tweakers.

  Updated weather plug-in posted
Posted by: Jeff - 2005-10-09, 03:51 AM - Forum: Community Announcements - Replies (8)

Update located at http://gbpvr.com/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Plugin/Weather

2005–10–05 :

  • Update parsing code for new MSNBC page layout
  • Added more weather string to weather image mappings
  • Made downloading of maps other than the doppler radar maps optional (to save memory)
  • Added config option to skip loading information on startup, in which case it will be downloaded the first time it is accessed (or the first time it is auto-updated for the video archive panel, if that config option is set).
  • Fixed various bugs and made other small enhancements.

What useage scenarios could impact a scheduled recording working
Posted by: mixedup - 2005-10-09, 03:50 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (35)

Hi,

BACKGROUND: I just had a scheduled recording that didn't work, however I was doing a few things like starting/stoping GB-PVR & watching AVIs at the time. I was doing this from a remote TV using the secondary monitor output too, as I've programed my remote (via girder) to be able to start and stop GB-PVR (i.e. not sure if there could have been a warning message that I didn't see). I did notice the log showed the recording service had restarted a few times that evening.

QUESTION: What useage scenarios could possible impact a recording not working (i.e. what should I be aware of to ensure a schedule recording won't be impacted) - for example:
- stopping starting GB-PVR remoting from a secondary monitor
- watching AVI files
- watching live TV at the time the recording is supposed to start (on a different channel)
- other activity on the PC
- others???

thanks

  2nd MVP "Loading Application"
Posted by: gblinckmann - 2005-10-08, 10:26 PM - Forum: MVP & NMT - Replies (1)

I've got two MVP's that I've been running for a long time. Lately, one of them doesn't seem to want to connect to GBPVR. Running the native software, both work fine. The second MVP will only run GBPVR if I stop GBPVR, run the hauppauge software, then boot both MediaMVP's, then stop the Hauppauge software and start GBPVR.

Any ideas, anybody? This type of procedure hits the WAF hard!
