It would be good to able to selectively hide certain elements of the UI when running on the MVP, as opposed to when running on the PC. I'm thinking something similar to how it's possible to select which buttons show on the main screen.

Over the last 1.5 years since I discovered GBPVR, I keep going back and forth between the GBPVR and the native MediaServer software for the MVP. It's the features that make me run the GBPVR on the MVP. Such as currently, because of the awesome comskip driven auto-skipping. But historically, something bad happens and I just have to return to MediaServer with it's safer funcationality.

For instance, because of the way the MVP works with keyclicks on the remote needing to do a roundtrip to the server, there can sometimes be a substantial lag between when you push the button and when something happens. Sometimes nothing seems to be happening and you're not sure if the keystroke even made it, so perhaps you click again. Then you think maybe it's stuck and you try to recover with other keys. But all of a sudden, the MVP catches up and a backlog of keystrokes comes through all at once. And because the DELETE button is just below the PLAY button on the program guide, you end up erasing the very show you had intended to be watching!:mad: That time I went back to MediaServer MVP, and only used GBPVR for scheduling for quite a while.

As you can guess, the first thing I would like to disable for MVP playback is the DELETE functionality. I only want to be able to delete from the PC.

Another dimension is when the whole family uses the device. The kids might accidentally delete someone else's recordings. Or even worse, maliciously delete each other's! It's a bad scene when that happens - back to MediaServer MVP we go.

The root of my problem is that I want to push the "Music" button on my Firefly remote and have the "My Music" plugin run.
I've created the Snapstream->Firefly->Profiles->gbpvr.xml file, but this maps the Music button to a keypress (f4).

So how does gbpvr work?
Do I somehow change the existing mapping of f4 from the original music plugin to the "My Music" plug-in?
Or do I somehow assign a key to each menu item and then tell Firefly to use it (using my gbpvr.xml)?

I'm sure this has been mentioned loads of times before - however, I have searched and I can't seem to find anything specifically relating to this - so if it has been mentioned, I apologise. However, this issue is driving me crazy!!

I know that during playback, you have to change the aspect ratio by pressing F7. However, when I set GBPVR to record, it always defaults to widescreen, even if the correct ratio is 4:3. I don't think it used to do this, although it continually does it now. I seem to remember it originally recorded in the aspect ratio when the recording started, however I have no clue how to reset it back to as it was - if this is possible that is!

I would be most grateful of any help, as I'm completely stuck!

The new comskip build 77.54 has the added feature to be able to review the .txt file.

Run it as
comskip filename.txt
or drag and drop the .txt file on comskip.exe
The debugwindow will open and you can use the 'n' and the 'p' key to skip quickly over the cutpoints and the arrows to do a more detailed scanning.

There is also a new parameter for the ini file to reduce the duration of the logo if it extends into the commercials

Can this be added? Problem is when you record multiple shows in the same timeslot, I think it writes in an interleaving manner to the disk, so that each of the recorded episodes are fragmented on the disk.

I know bittorrent clients pre-allocate to prevent this type of problem. Can this be added to GB-PVR? Would be great, thanks.

SOLVED, The problem was the wireless network

Hey guys, just got myself a MVP and finally got around to installing my PVR150. GBPvr works great and love it. I am having problems with the MVP though.

Athlon 2200 XP Pro w/SP2
1GB DDR
MVP 1000 ver. D3A
Connected via Microsoft MN-740 Wireless gaming adapter.
100gb+160gb

Whenever I try to watch a video it will play the video for about ~10-60 seconds and then display the "Contacting servers..." message. When this happens The MVP seems to loose its connection to the Wireless adapter. The status light on the adapter turns off and the status lights on the back of the MVP near the RJ45 port are off. There seems to be no network communication.

I have gone through the FAQ and a ton of threads here in the forum. I have tried everything that the FAQ Suggests.

Things that work
1. The MVP recieves an IP address from the DHCP Server
2. I am able to connect to both the GBPvr and the Hauppauge server(did this to test). The Hauppauge services have been set to manual now and I am able to connect to the GBPvr server consistently
3. MP3s work fine

Things I have tried
1. Try different dongle.bin files
-i have tried the one that came w/ gbpvr
-dowloaded the latest dongle from hauppauge
-dongle from the application cd that came with MVP
-Beta dongle and few other that I found links to in the forum
2. Disable all possible firewalls.

Couple of other notes
1. Using GBPvr V. 94.13
2. The videos are in MPEG format and play for a few secs and then crash. The longest i have seen it go is one min.
3. Live tv crashes out too with the same syptoms as above.

I haven't had a chance to run a CAT5 cable straight to the router but that is next on my list. Does anyone have any other suggestions as to what may be wrong. Also what codecs should have set in my config for GBPvr?

i was having problems with the zapimort reallly 'zap'ping my resources and mucking up my recordings so i looked and found this *freeware* process prioritizer...ThreadMaster and it works like a charm! zapimport used to peg the cpu out at 100% for long periods of time goofing anything recording at the time..but this file watches the processes and smacks down anything hogging over a certain threshold...with exceptions of course...you should probably add gbpvrrecordingservice.exe and gbpvr.exe to the exclude list in the registry and i changed the MainSampleTime to 10..[its lowest,10 secs averaging] wish i could get it lower..like 2. but it works great for anything else that goes ballistic..
you can adjust the % of time each ap gets if specified manually or use a global setting..really nice if your apps aren't "playing nice"

I'm wondering does this and how exactly does it work?

What happens if after I record a particular episode, I edit and re-save it as a different file name. Will GB-PVR still be able to know and prevent from recording dupes if I set it to record all episodes?

It would depend upon whether it keeps a historical log of all episodes it records, or whether it checks for dupes based on what shows are still untouched in the file directory structure it expects.

Anyone know, I'd prefer it to keep a log. That'd be more roubust in case people edit and move their recordings around, at least GB-PVR will still know what was recorded and can prevent recording dupe episodes.

I am missing channels from the tv guide. I have forced an epg update. I have added xrecord, xguide several weeks ago, but it was working then. Any thoughts ?
