I have a Pinnacle PCTV Stereo tuner card, which uses software encoding. This makes Windows XP MCE unusable for me, but I am looking for an alternative. What I want to do is just be able to use an EPG and be able to leave my pc to record shows when I’m not home. So just EPG & scheduled recording are what I need, although things like pausing live tv would be nice.

Can I use GBPVR for this purpose? If not, which programs can I use to do this? Does anyone else use a software encoder / PCTV Stereo to record TV?

Was just about to order an MVP when I read, in the pdf specification, that you have to turn off the standard XP firewall for it to work.

My HTPC is currently my router and I do not want to install a software based firewall as all the ones I've tried have some problem or another and really slow the PC down. I don't really want to buy a standalone router either as the last one I had kept locking up.

Can someone who has an MVP please confirm whether it can work with the XP firewall enabled?

Hey guys, well done, this gbpvr is great, but it needs terrific look. Skin looking like iTunes 5.0 in combination with OSX Tiger Aqua look would be a great stuff, much better than MCE. It would be great to have multiple recording paths that we could select when setting up a recording schedule in TV Guide or manual recording window.

For instance, I'd like to see a path to my hard disk and a path to my DVD writable drive (I'm using inCD). So, when setting a recording, I could select whether I want my record to go on hard disk or DVD, in addition to selecting channel, quality, date, time, etc...

In TV Guide, when you select a show to record, it would be great to have information of time left (calculated upon the video quality set). If there is not enough time left to record then an error message should pop up and prevent the recording to be set.

Manual recording windows should also have the same behavior.

I would like to clear up all the channels to remove redundant channels and unwanted channels.

How do I do this in config. I can't delete a channel from config, where do i do this

After searching the internet and not really finding anything at all for my issue. I discovered a fix for it myself:

The Option for S/PDIF was greyed out in Windows Media Player 10's DVD Selection for iviaudio.ax.

What I had to do to get it "not greyed out" was simply insert a DVD and go back into the options, and magically it was no longer greyed, however it sill would not work in GBPVR (however Media Player was now working)

upon trolling through my registry I stumbled upon:

HKEY_USERS\{User String}\Software\InterVideo\Common\AudioDec\GBPVR
and
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\InterVideo\Common\AudioDec\GBPVR

Which were both blank, no entries what-so-ever.

There was also:
HKEY_USERS\{User String}\Software\InterVideo\Common\AudioDec\wmplayer
and
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\InterVideo\Common\AudioDec\wmplayer

which had the following entries:

AUDIO=6 (decimal) (type = DWORD)
AUDIOCHAN=7 (decimal) (type = DWORD)

Now the option worked fine in Windows Media Player so I duplicated these entries in GBPVR (in both locations to be safe) and started GBPVR up and now Dolby Digital works through the InterVideo Audio Decoder (Using Direct Sound Default)

For reference my system is:

AMD 2600+
1 GB RAM
2x PVR250
Creative Labs Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS
ATI AIW9600

Windows XP SP1 w/ WMP 10

This was a clean install, so there wasn't anything on the machine when I started.

I'll get around tomorrow to testing DTS on it (it's late and i'm tired).

This may have been posted before, but I couldn't find it, and figured this may help someone else out in the future.

suddenly, it seems my recordings have gone missing in the "ready" screen of the MPV and the Windows cersions. I checked the directories, and the files exist, but no dice .


ANy advice on how to rebuild the database? Or, is that what I need to do? I'm running lates stable version. And, these worked for some time after the upgrade, just seems to be in the last few days.
