I recently had GB-PVR installed on my PC. After weeks of tweaking, I got GB-PVR to work to my liking: live tv did not stutter, live tv picture looked good, recordings resembled live tv exactly, etc. Since then, I had to rebuild my PC due to a HD crash.

I am using the latest GB-PVR build on a 3.0GHz/1GB ram/PVR-150/ATI RADEON 300SE and am having difficulties getting GB-PVR configured to resemble that of my previous (pre-"HD crash"). My 2 main problems are as follows:

(1):
My live tv looks great, but my recordings do not. I set my medium and high settings to that of my live tv settings (variable - 5500/9000). But still, my recordings look horrible. Under high motion, my picture becomes very boxy around the images in motion. When the motion halts, the picture jumps back to a crisp picture.

I'd like to emphasize here that my live tv quality is great. When I view my recordings in GB-PVR they look as described above. Additionally, when I view my recordings outside of GB-PVR (WMA) they look the same - as described above.

(2):
Every so often while watching live tv, my picture freezes. I try to exit back to the main menu or my tv guide, but then everything goes black. I then have to bring up my windows task manager and end the GB-PVR process, and restart my GB-PVR recording service because it is frozen recording as if I was still watching tv even after the GB-PVR process was killed.

Has anyone experienced either of these issues before?

I have seen this on my development machine that does not have a tuner card, but never on my real machine. Do I need to reinstall?

I have WinXP Home with plenty of HD and RAM. I recently installed GBPVR so I'm not very familiar with it yet. I also have the Hauppauge WinTV PVR 250 installed and its software. I installed GBPVR because the Scheduler which came with WinTV is not so good, and someone said GB is better. It may be, but so far, I'm having too many problems to be convinced.

I also have both Comcast cable, and Dish Network Satellite. One day I'll probable dump one or the other. In the mean time, I set up Config so that both Cable and Satellite EPG's are installed. If I start up GBPVR and click on Live TV, I can watch the Satellite channels. I change the channels with a Dish remote. I realize that if I had an USB IR blaster, I could have GBPVR control the remote receiver. Maybe I'll do that someday.

However, if I click on a cable channel on TVGuide, I expect to see that particular channel on the cable, but instead, I get the Satellite channel.

If I open WinTV2000 and select a cable channel, then go back to GBPVR and select the same channel on TVGuide, I still see the Satellite channel. I expected to see the cable channel.

Is my understanding about what I should see correct? If so, how do I get it to work that way?

When my PC comes out of standby mode the TV out of my 350 doesnt seem to wake up and just shows a test pattern of vertical lines?

Am I imagining things or did my MVP used to output RGB? I'm sure the TV used to switch automatically to RGB when I booted up the MVP but there is no sign of it doing so now. Has this been removed in the latest versions of the software?

Hi, I've read through most of the threads on this forum and can't see anything exactly the same as i'm experiencing.

I have a Hauppauge WinTV NOVA-T PCI (909) installed in my PC which works fine. I then downloaded ShowShifter to try that out and that worked ok.. then I found GBPVR. Wow I thought... sounds great.

So I installed GBPVR & setup the software by following the Wiki guide. So far so good.

When configuring the Capture Source, I've set the recording source to BDA Recording Plugin and set the device type to Hauppauge Nova-T (909). The EPG source is set to Bleb (UK) and I've selected several channels.

I then hit Update EPG button to download the program guide... so far so good.

Once it's downloaded I close and reopen the Config tool and see that the channels in the EPG section are listed correctly, but the Enabled/Disabled checkbox is unchecked and there's nothing in the Tuning Request column. So, I then hit the Map digital channels to EPG channels button ... and this is where I get a problem. The config program appears to hang with just the hourglass being displayed on the screen. TaskMgr also shows the software as hanging... but to be sure it wasn't just busy, I actually left it like this overnight. However, on checking it in the morning it was still just showing the hour glass and hadn't got any further.

As I mentioned, the WinTV software works fine, the ShowShifter s/w works ok too, but for some reason I can't get past the EPG mapping. Any ideas?

In live tv mode the banner takes up almost half the page. How can I reducr the height?

Support for the common Play/Pause/Stop Next/Prev keys on media type keyboads?
I have a logitech cordless kb/mouse and I thought it would be good to enable these keys to work as they do in Windows media player/Power dvd etc.

This lead me to think about (although complicated to implement, perhaps) a bit of a new way to consider activating the functions in the GBPVR app.
As the functions that the remotes, ctrl-keys, arrow keys etc do things should all be mappable to any active functions/hardware/interfaces.

A lot of midi/music programs now days allow each active function to learn a command, either from a keyboard, mouse or even a midi controller interface. Perhaps it can be done this way then every remote/controller/keyboard could be mapped to each of the functions.

So to simplify it a bit, the remote config page would then;
A. List each of the functions (Play|Stop|Record|Up|Down etc)
B. Link these to a selected/learning entry so play can be mapped to the 'p' key or the 'play' button on a (any) remote or the 'play' key on a media keyboard.

Then this mapping is stored in a config file so you could collect/download a range of mappings for different hardware (IR controllers) or keyboards or even disability adaptors etc.

Another little thing to consider would be to enable a 'transmit' in each of these so you can have a programmable remote control learn each of the functions.

This would basically make any hardware/remote work with the software, either with an already provided config file or 'set the functions yourself'

Despite it being listed in config as "windowed" mode my menu is in full screen. I have tried minimizing but nothing happens.
Any ideas on how to fix this?
