  Can't enter timeshift mode
Posted by: PVRGuy - 2005-08-31, 11:59 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (2)

Whenever I try to pause or I hit record, I get "Starting Timeshift mode TV. Please Wait." Then I am taken to the main menu, without entering timeshift mode.

When I unchecked the "Use Live Preview mode if possible" box in the Misc tab of config, I cannot even watch TV anymore. Now, when I press "Live TV" in the main menu, I get "Starting Timeshift mode TV. Please Wait." Then I am taken again back to the main menu, without entering timeshift mode.

Can anyone help?

  Hauppauge PVR-250BTV supported?
Posted by: Larry_L - 2005-08-31, 11:51 AM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (2)

Newbie here, did a lot of reading about software, hardware before taking the plunge... Bought a MediaMVP from at CC, and a PVR-250BTV from pricewatch for about $60. Looks like that was my mistake, the BTV variant seems to be a 'Beyond TV only' card.

None of the drivers would load from Hauppauge's web site, but Snapstream had drivers that did work. GBPVR does not recognize the card... Is it possible this card will never work with GBPVR?

Anybody want to buy a cheap card? :o

Thanks in advance for any suggestions,
Larry

Setting Up for Sky Digital (UK)
Posted by: JBIreland - 2005-08-31, 11:39 AM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (4)

Hello, I have been searching through the forums trying to find out what I need to change my set up for Sky Digital (Satellite provider in the UK). I currently run GB-PVR with a Hauppage 350 off of terrestrial boadcasts, and have had some success. However, I am about to embark on a journey into Digital TV and this is the only option for my geographical area.

I would like to know what the options are hardware wise. I have been looking at DVB-S cards, but would really like to have the ability to record more than one channel at a time (plus it seems this may not work for all channels). I have also seen mention of some kind of cabling for controlling the reciever but really could do with some help.

Thanks

Video Not Playing (what do i need)
Posted by: kevin_c - 2005-08-31, 11:10 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (14)

Hi,

I'm moving my PVR setup onto my small mini-itx machine. I've installed GB-PVR and everything nicely, but the problem is that no video plays. I've tried playing DivX and the audio seems to play, but that's all. I've tried playing a show I recorded, but nothing shows up. The screen display just stays on the folder view.

I'm using a Via SP13000, and Windows 2000. I've installed DirectX9, and all of the videos I've tried played fine in VideoLan.

Any ideas what's wrong?

Thanks

  Automatically Exit Live TV
Posted by: ydekmekji - 2005-08-31, 04:56 AM - Forum: Wishlist - No Replies

So a couple days ago, my dad was watching tv using GBPVR, and then when he was done, he turned off the tv, but did not exit live tv on gbpvr. The next day (about 24 hours later), i realized what had happened. By then, the picture was all shot up (i think the tuner can't handle that much). Anyway, i was wondering if it's possible to create some sort of auto-exit from live tv after like 2 hours without anything touched on the remote. So if the user has not done anything, then it would default and return to the main menu. How does that soudnd?

XMedia skin problem with XRecord ??
Posted by: BobAtTorrey - 2005-08-31, 01:06 AM - Forum: Old Stuff (Legacy) - No Replies

I see a problem displaying XRecord screens using the XMedia skin, which I don't see using the Blue skin.

If I go to XRecord the XMedia skin presents the color remote buttons (yellow, blue, gree) along with what they do (View, Lock, List). So far so good.

If I then go down to and select the Scheduler option on this screen then it puts up a list of recordings, with the top of the list being 'Add Entry', which is highlighted. However, this 'Add Entry' and highlighting transparently overlays the line from the previous screen -- i.e., the color buttons and their meaning. If the buttons are meant to be kept for this screen, then the 'window/list' beginning with 'Add Entry' needs to be shifted downward.

Autoskip diff on 350 and MVP
Posted by: jrockintuitive - 2005-08-31, 12:30 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (2)

I have played several shows on both my 350 and MVP...

GB-PVR autoskips commercials at slightly different times on the MVP and 350.
The MVP autoskips about a second earlier then it should.
The 350 seems about right, maybe starts a little late and end a little late?

Is this just me?

tweaking comskip results - is this do-able?
Posted by: tevbill - 2005-08-31, 12:21 AM - Forum: Old Stuff (Legacy) - Replies (12)

I'm having pretty good results with comskip but I have a question on fine tuning the final result.
Let's say the the txt file that comskip generated has the following final list:

Final Commercial List
---------------------
1 - start: 1941 end: 3441 length: 50.05 seconds
2 - start: 35055 end: 43641 length: 4 minutes, 46.49 seconds
4 - start: 70005 end: 78134 length: 4 minutes, 31.24 seconds
5 - start: 100048 end: 108467 length: 4 minutes, 40.91 seconds
6 - start: 117364 end: 119279 length: 1 minute, 3.90 seconds
8 - start: 156496 end: 164619 length: 4 minutes, 31.04 seconds
9 - start: 184518 end: 192919 length: 4 minutes, 40.31 seconds
10 - start: 205585 end: 207688 length: 1 minute, 10.17 seconds

221123 Frames Processed
_____

Then I notice that #6 is not a commercial, its a false alarm.
Can I just delete that line and renumber the remaining line numbers without corrupting the results?

Also if I notice that a commercial break runs a few seconds into the show like #9 can I just edit the end:192919 to end:192819 or something similar?

thanks a lot

  DVD doesn't play to ratio

When I tried playing the Eternal Sunshine widescreen DVD, GBPVR stretches the widescreen into a fullscreen. How do I fix this?

  question about wireless audio.....
Posted by: jusatry - 2005-08-30, 11:01 PM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (5)

I'm not sure if anyone here has had the occasion to need a product like this, but does anyone know of something that can connect to the audio out (or USB) from my HTPC and wirelessly (maybe 900Mhz or 2.4GHz) create a set of RCA type or mini-jack headphone plug at the recieving end?

I have one of those bose sound wave radio/cd players in my kitchen and it has an AUX input. Sometimes I want to be able to hear the music off my HTPC on that radio, but I don't want to run a 30' RCA cable through doorways and all that crap.

Any ideas?

Thanks!
