  AGP vs. PCI video cards?
Posted by: bdgbill - 2005-08-14, 09:04 PM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (2)

Is there a preference for AGP vs PCI video cards? Been reading the forums for a while and it seems like many people are running PCI cards even though they are kind of rare these days.

I'm considering the XFX GeForce FX 5200 / 128MB DDR / AGP 8X card (about $60.00 Canadian from Tiger Direct).

Also...Will any AGP card work in any AGP slot? My older machine has an AGP slot but I have no idea what version.

Thanks

Posted by: erikl - 2005-08-14, 08:57 PM - Forum: Old Stuff (Legacy) - No Replies

Is it only possible for zap-users to see extended info in web-gui?

My xmlfile, provided by o2grabber has a lot of extra info, but i can't find out how to use it in webgui...
Any ideas?

  MVP remote features
Posted by: LilY0da - 2005-08-14, 08:34 PM - Forum: MVP & NMT - Replies (10)

Hey y'all.

Been trying to map what button on the MVP remote works with GBPVR, and so far what I found that was "weird" is:
- to return to the main menu, you have to press the "i" button, but the "home" button doesn't do anything
- changing channels by typing in a number doesn't work. No idea if it's just me or if the feature isn't present in GBPVR at all
- prev. channel when watching live TV doesn't seem to work

Any ideas/thought about the above? Does it work for you?

  FM Radio Volume Control
Posted by: csy - 2005-08-14, 08:15 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - No Replies

I've got FM Radio working well using the ATI Theater 550 with the latest release gbpvr v0.93.10, however I'm unable to contol the volume from the remote.

I'm using the Cyberlink remote that came with the ATI Theater 550 with gbpvr configured for MCE Remote, and this controls the volume ok within LiveTV and DVD (interestingly, this is not adjusting the windows volume controls, so perhaps it is adjusting something within gbpvr????). But it has no control within FM Radio, with the default volume being 100%.

Any ideas?

How do I Disable DVD captioning ???
Posted by: Kyle - 2005-08-14, 05:16 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (13)

I am currently unable to disable captioning in DVD's. I have tried many DVD's and all of them are displaying English captioning. I can turn on/off the DVD subtitles and switch the subtitle language but the captioning is separate and it is always English and always visible no matter what I do. I have unchecked the checkbox in the Misc tab for "Show closed captions" and it doesn't make any difference. I'm pretty sure I broke it somehow but I have no idea how. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

I upgraded to the 0.93.10 yesterday and first noticed this problem. I uninstalled and went back to 0.92.11 and the problem is still there. Not sure what I have done to cause this.

I have attached a picture of the problem.

Thanks,

Kyle

Too much for my brain to fix
Posted by: thebadgerking - 2005-08-14, 05:00 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (8)

I have been trying to fix this error all day, but have had no luck. If anyone can shed some light on the problem then that would be fantastic.

all software seems to have installed fine. I have set the TV Cards channel numbers etc...

..the problem i get is when I try to view any channel, I get an error message saying:

Error: Object reference not set to an instance of an object

I think it has something to do with the channel changer option but thats just from trial and error.

I am using a Hauppauge 250 with FM tuner. All the software should be up to date as I downloaded it all this morning. Everything else works 100% its just that with this error I cannot view TV.

/I have also had a play with the record function. It seems to be able to find the channel to record from but only records a couple of frames then loops back.

Any help would be fantastic.

Silent PC Advice - Powerful Enough?
Posted by: kevin_c - 2005-08-14, 04:03 PM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (7)

Hi,

I'm building a little PVR box that will be conected to a TV all the time. I've bought a remote control and a PVR-150 card already to test the setup on my current PC. I want to get a VIA M12000 and a Morex 2600 to build a nice, small quiet system.

I've been searching the forum and some have expressed doubt on the TV quality and power of that board for running GBPVR. Has anyone seen that setup in action or know if it can suit my circumstances.

Any advice would be appreciated, so I don't waste a few hundred quid.

Thanks

  Install error ???
Posted by: gddeluca - 2005-08-14, 04:00 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (2)

The Install program runs right to the point where it has 0% remaining to do, then switches to rollback mode, deletes the installation and says it cannot complete due to an error. Which of course it does not describe.

Surely there's a log somewhere of what's wrong, where do I look?

George

  Guide2J plugin
Posted by: SFX Group - 2005-08-14, 03:04 PM - Forum: Developers - Replies (48)

Hi

Downloaded and installed, says it cant find a db file to do with ZAP, will this work with the UK guides? does it just pull info from the GBPVR system (i use BLEB UK as cant find anything better and dont want to sit for hours building one as every update so far has resulted in complete PVR DIR deletes, the latest being the worse).

Many Thanks
Ashley
