Ive held off getting a MediaMVP so far (the only store in town will order one, for a decent price, but no returns and they cant tell me rev#).

Did some experimenting around with the Dualview (fx5600), and operationally at least, its very good. The only problem is the cpu hit on live/rec mpegs. I cant seem to get it below about 30%. I certainly cant play a good 3d game on the pc while the gbpvr is running.. the video pretty much stops from lack of cpu cycles.

Can I confirm, with some MVP users, that running GBPVR thru the MVP is nearly transparent to the cpu ? Can you game while watching live/rec video ?

FWIW, Ill be using the htpc for live (Nexus looped into a pvr150), recorded (mpegs), photos, mp3s, and various plugins (weather, cams, netradio, etc).

System is a 2.1Ghz with 768 DDR, fx5600.

Hi everyone,

First of all, my first attempt at a GBPVR setup is generally working very fine (I have a PVR150, fx5200 and Amd 3000+ setup). The machine is very stable and has not crashed on me, in my 1.5 months of "beta testing" period.

Anyway, I have some problems regarding Interlace and frame order. When I have recorded some material to mpeg2, and play it back it plays back smoothly, but if I do any heavy fast forward / backward, the video can start to stutter as if the frame order have been switched around.



I can do a sort of workaround of the problem by either pressing the play button a couple of times, or pausing/playing until it "jumps" to the correct frame order.

Since the system is also intended to be used by my wife (and I therefore would very much like to kill this little bug), I would love to hear if anyone have experienced something similar, especially if you have found a more permanent fix.

I also experience this, if I timeshift, and fast forward/backward on that (but never on Divx/avi material or LiveTV preview).

(I use the Nvidia DVD decoder just fyi)

What is the best DVB-S card to build my gbpvr mediacentre. If possible with support for HDTV and Conditional Access module.

Seems that everything from my PVR500 is showing up dark overall. LiveTV plus recorded shows. Also when playing the MPeg files thru a seperate player 'Media Player Classic' it looks the same. No bright whites and the picture just has no sparkle. Using high recording quality setting.

Is there a way to have GBPVR set the brightness level higher of the recordings or livetv to the recording source (PVR-500 card)?

If I re-encode with higher gamma then everything looks great and is similar to external non PC sources (VCR, video out from Sat. etc) directly.

If I setup TWO sources in my EPG, e.g.

1. Broadcast TV via the tuner and
2. DSLCable via the S-Video input

Q1. Should I use a different xmtv.xml file for EACH of them (e.g. Broadcast.xml and Cable.xml) or the same one for both? I know the latter works. I can set up my EPG grabber (TVxB) to run two different ini's.

Q2. Is this the way GB-PVR's EPG xml sources was intended to be used?

Q3. If I use ONE xml file, then the channel assignment (from the xml file) is OK for the Cable channels but when I save the EPG in config it appears to "assign" a new set of channel numbers for the Broadcast channels, which follow on from the numbering of the DSL Channels. Any idea why this might be happening ?

e.g. in my Grabber setup, the two Broadcast Channels in my XML file are 51 and 55, and the Cable ones are 61, 65, 74, 74, 76, 84 and 85. The Two Broadcast Channels are "assigned" Channels 86 and 87? DSL ones are fine. Any hints?

I am having trouble getting my MVP's remote to work, I can see the LED on the front of the MVP blink when I press a button, but it wont move or select any menus.

I fould a thread on the dongle.bin, but that didnt seem to help anything.

I also tried updating the software on the MVP as well as updating GBPVR.

I cant seem to get the remote to work with the factory MVP service either.

Is it common for this to happen?

Any ideas?

Hi all,

I've been experimenting with mencoder :- developed batch files to auto process my DVB recordings into divx AVIs.

At the moment: i can successfully do : DVB -> MPEG2
ie, demux and remux working fine for me.

however, i am having problems when converting from MPEG2 -> AVI.
Simply, i find that converted video has a display size that is 'smaller' when played back on the screen. Its almost as if the video is being placed in another letterbox (?).
What I am trying to do is compress but retain its original attributes : same zoom, same scale, same aspect ratio, etc.

I have tried all sorts of combinations with these options: -zoom scale, -noaspect, etc... but to no avail....
The following shows the mencoder options that i am currently using:

Hi, i've read over the forums looking and have been unable to find a fix. (I may just not have looked well enough and if this has been covered my apologies)

im running a Hauppage 150 on P4 2.8 1gig ram using a Ati 9600 128 meg card. i built this system over 2 years ago. I'm running win xp , and direct x 9.c.
I'm using omega drivers (just started tonight to see if they would help to no avail)

Anyway problem is when watching Live Tv If the picture on the screen is still i.e. no movemant the picture quality is great but as soon as a person moves etc the item moving gets "lines" the lines are only on the item moving and seems to make the picture hazy. I've also noticed not sure if this is related but my picture is not bright and crisp its kind of dull and hazy almost like a tv wtih the contrast set way down. I've only run into this problem with GBPVR when i was using beyond tv the quality was fine.

Any help/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Some of you might have used Konfabulator recently since it was purchased by Yahoo! and now made free. Anyways, Konfabulator seems to slow down LiveTV mode in GBPVR. It's really weird as to why it happens. Once I turn off Konfabulator, GBPVR LiveTV works smoothly again. Does anyone know why this happens? If so, anyone know how to fix it?
