I've spent the past week investigating why I can't get dvdAuthor to burn a .mpg file captured using WinTVCap under the DVD quality setting. I noticed that sub originally was using WinTVCap to capture at one point (I believe he has written a custom capture utility now), so I thought someone in this forum might be able to help me.

Everytime I try to author a dvd directly from the .mpg captured by WinTVCap I get a Warn from dvdAuthor a few thousand times about it skipping the file and looking for the first VOBU before it just errors out. I understand that dvdAuthor is sensitive so I messed around with the capture setting on WinTVCap. Still didn't work. I guess I thought WinTVCap was recording to mpeg2 format and could be written directly as a dvd file. Is this true or do I have to remux the .mpg file to an mpeg2 file before I can author the DVD? Any other suggestions that experience might have shown you?

I have been unable to capture two shows simultaneously with my Hauppauge 500mce (WinXP SP1, GBPVR 0.91.12) and am hoping someone can help me out.

Can someone clue me in as to what the correct configuration should be for a 500mce?

I have tried setting up "both" tuners in config > capture_sources as:
1) Both boards as "PVR500" (no mce option) and being capture devices 1 & 2
2) Both boards as "PVR500" and both boards being capture device 1
3) Both boards as "PVR150mce" and being devices 1 & 2

And I'm at a loss, because in *each* and *every* scenario above I get one mpeg that's fine (from capture source #2), and one that's zero bytes (source #1).

Is there a way in "Live TV" to "switch" to a specific capture device?

My music library is exclusively classical, with lengthy titles and artist info. As a result, the album info area in MusicAlbums requires draconian abbreviation, to the point of incomprehension. Is it possible to eliminate the Album Image.jpg and reserve the entire upper right panel area for album information? If so, how can this be done? Thanks.

Using a PVR-500MCE

When I watch through LiveTV, the picture is fine, but no audio comes through (not even soft). As soon as I switch to timeshift mode, the audio is fine. The audio is also ok on recorded/replayed TV. For now I have turned off the live preview option in the Misc tab of the config, but channel switching with that is rather slow (compared to preview/normal tv). Is there a setting I am missing somewhere that would enable the sound for the LiveTv preview?

I've tried different drivers for the PVR-500, but that doesn't seem to affect things at all.

My wife and I really like the TheaterListings plugin. Thanks for creating it. I was playing with it last night and got to thinking. It would be really cool if there was an option to search and select a movie, then drill down to the list of theaters that it's playing in. I don't know if that's feasible, but keep it in mind for future releases.

Hi all.

Sub has said before he has no current interest in providing much support for DVB radio. However, I can still get successful manual recordings from these channels.

The problem is playing them back. The recordings still appear as mpeg files, but Winamp and media player don't like them. The only way I have found to extract the audio successfully is to use the "simple demux" function in TMPGEnc. This leaves me with a nice .mp2 audio file of the recording.

I would like to be able to extract this programmatically (e.g. in a post-recording batch file, detect that a .mpeg has no video, demux automatically to .mp2, then perhaps use LAME to cross-convert to .mp3), but there seems to be no way to do so.

Ideally I'd open the .mpeg in GraphEdit and connect the "audio" pin to a file sink, but GraphEdit rejects the file when you try to open it.

Does anyone have any ideas about this? And Sub, is it a huge amount of work to just record any channel with a 0 Video PID as .mp2 audio only?

Just to let you know that I contacted Tobias, and he has kindly provided the source code to the MusicAlbum plugin, which I have put up on the wiki and have also started putting up an html-ised version of his pdf manual there too.

For those who don't know it, the plugin is an alternative to the built-in music module. As the name suggests, it is a much improved way of handling Albums - browsing them, queuing entire albums or just single songs etc.

As recursive folder scanning is not yet operational, the best way to use this plugin is to have a base directory with M3U playlists for all the albums you want included, and to deselect “allow directories” but select “allow playlists” in the config options.

It is mostly functional as it stands - the major remaining first revision requests/bugs are:

• you sometimes get an "Object reference not set to an instance of an object" error when exiting from the plugin to the main directory.
  
• recursive directory scanning is not yet supported
  
• full skinning not yet supported.
  

Hi all, I am currently running GBPVR with a PVR150MCE and fx5200 video card, with the TV-out on the video card going to my non-HD television. It looks pretty good, but still a little more blurry than if I were watching a direct signal feed from my (analog) cable. Even worse though is the quality of DVDs; they look nowhere near as sharp as my DVD player (which just broke, so I would love to not have to get another one).

What are my non-HD options for taking the video output from good to great? I've heard the PVR 350 has great TV out, but stability issues with GBPVR, not to mention it won't play DVDs. But if the PVR 350 is my only option to improve video out, I'd be willing to buy a separate cheap-o DVD player.......are there any other better options?

A few times after i turn on and load up my machine from hibernate, a big red x on a white screen pops up, and i have to restart the machine (though if i use my remote control, i can hear beeps, so gbpvr is somehow still active). I have realized that this happens after SA runs and then the machine goes to hibernate. So... somehow SA is doing some odd video thing... anyone else notice probs?
