Have just added a A/V Cable set as I want to record from a Digital Set Top and a Pay TV Satellite Reciever. Works fine with Win 2000 TV however when using GBPVR (my preferred software)I get the correct video but the audio from the main card audio i/p and not the A/V Cable set audio i/p.

Just bought a Hauppauge pvr500 to add to my 2003 server running GBPVR that already holds a pvr350 and a pvr250.

I didn't get it to work, so of course first thing I did was dig into the forum. Initially I thought it was the pvr500 that caused the problem, but after re-installing card by card, starting with the pvr 500 I did find that everything works just fine until a 4rth card is added. Used seperately, the cards seems to work fine.

I see a lot of people describing the same issues I have, often blaming the PVR500, but it seems something else is wrong; the pvr500 just happens to add two devices so it will show the problem sooner.

What happens is that, when recording 4 sources, one will record 0 bytes (sounds familiar?) and it seems another one creates a quite large file (450Mb) very fast, but that file cannot be played back. The other two sources seem OK. Further more the whole systems becomes unresponsive, as if some task is using a lot of processor time.

Additionally, when testing of course I do not record a whole show on 4 sources, so I tend to cancel them after a while. There another issue reveals itself: one show will not be cancelled. In fact even after rebooting the computer it can't be cancelled.

I have already replaced the NativeUtilities.dll and added the line: <AutoDetectEncoder>false</AutoDetectEncoder> to my config.xml as suggested elswhere in the forums.

I am able to reproduce the issues. Right now I have disabled one of my cards so the system works fine with the 3 remaining sources, but of course it would be great if the 4rth source works OK too. As mentioned; I see some other people have similar problems, so this may be a more generic problem?

Any suggestions as to what I might try next?

* Windows based PC

* Record both Digital and Analog TV. We currently watch the analog at the moment, but we will switch over to digital in the not to distant future.

* We have Cable TV (Satellite actually) with a set top box. We will need to be able to record off this and change the channel (im assuming that i will
need an IR Blaster). I'm not sure what brand to get or what to spend (advise?)

* EPG for Foxtel Digital i think i saw something on here in another post about this?

* Not too fussed about playing games but the card i've got will suit if i change my mind.

* Playback stored files eg mp3 jukebox and video player. i collect alot of MP3s and AVIs DivX/XviD etc.

HDD: 2x 250GB SATA Samsung drives if i can FIND them in australia. Or 2x 250gb SATA 2 Seagate 'cuddas. As this is the next quietest thing from what i have read. Plus a 40GB Seagate OS+Software Drive.

MOBO/RAM/CPU: This is the hardest thing to choose, I have looked at a stack of new boards and i cant decide on which way to go..
So i figure I will recycle this computer (my ASUS A7N8X-E and my Barton 2500+ with the massive xp-, 2x 1GB 3200 sticks ) and buy a notebook for myself instead
The motherboard has 5.1 onboard via the coaxl? so if i want to upgrade to 7.1 i will buy a pci sound card and whack that in. i may buy a 1.4v processor as this will run cooler as well.

Graphics card: i have an Asus 9600XT. This card has VGA, DVI, and VIVO... The plan is to plug into the Rear Projection TV via SVIDEO and the Projector via VGA (it is a data projector may upgrade this in the future to a proper DLP Projector but it was free so not complaining) We also may be replacing the Rearpro with a plasma soon too.. tax cheque is on its way so i assume i can use the DVI connection of the card instead of the S-Video then.

Tuner Card:
im having alot of problems deciding on what tuner to go for, but it appears that the VideoMate DVB-T300 is the only analog+digital card around...

I have been looking at either a pair of PVR-150's or PVR-500 (not sure how it will differ between the 2 cards other then 1 PCI slot VS 2) but they dont support digital...

Every Time GBpvr creates a new File on Live-TV watching it freezes for 1 - 2 seconds. On my first HD-drive ist Windows 2000 and al the Programms and stuff and on a second Sata-Harddisk is only the Live-TV buffer.
I'm not shure, is it a Windows 2000 problem or a GBPVR. Ist it posible to shutdown the Timeshift funktion when i use the PVR-350 TV-out.

Hi all, I have just finished building an AOpen EA65 system to function as my main system *and* pvr.....let me tell you this baby rocks, it is so much quieter than the Shuttles, there is really no comparison.

Anyway, one great thing the EA65 comes with is a remote control, whose IR receiver is integrated into the front of the case. This receiver has a semi-proprietary serial connection to the motherboard. Media Portal has native support for it as a "SerialUIR" remote type, but there does not seem to be similar support in GBPVR.

Is there a GBPVR plugin to support SerialUIR remote types? Or is another solution possible with girder? Please describe as if I were (were??) a noob.

I am playing around trying to get GB-PVR (using BDA drivers for DVB-T) up and running as I have found Media Portal to be too unstable.

I have hit a snag with GB-PVR in that I can't seem to get it decoding AC3 (which is what Australian HD channels transmit their sound as). All I get is near silence with occasional loud popping and cracking noises.

The Audio decoder properties let me choose a decoder, and I can configure that decoder (in the external decoders settings) to do pass through via SPDIF, but to no avail? It's like GB-PVR is somehow bypassing my decoder settings?

Anyone out there able to get it working? If so, what decoder did you use and were you able to send the AC3 signal out via SPDIF or did you have to downconvert it? I don't want to downconvert as Dolby Digital sounds fantastic

I 've just built a new pvr box round a shuttle xpc barebones system. I am using a hauppauge pvr350 card and am having problems with its output.
There are noticeable bands of what look like a pale ghosting that move up the image. This is happening on menu screens as well as video playback. The output is being taken from the 350, rather than the onboard video out.
Can anyone suggest how I might go about getting rid of this? It's rendering the system pretty much unusable, which is very frustrating.
I know that the card is good as it was working fine in my old system.
Could it be something as simple as the card not being seated properly in the pci slot?
Any help would be very welcome!

I have been asked to convert a friends very old wedding video to a dvd.

recording the video thrugh then pvr350 into mpg format was easy enough but how can I add a music track to it and then put it on a dvd?

what software do I need to use to acheive this ?
