total n00b: is gbpvr for me?
Posted by: sddave - 2005-07-18, 11:20 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (10)

Background: I'm running mythtv, but my roommate is hogging it with his nascar/formula 1 racing. It's time for him to get his own PVR. I think mythtv is beyond his computing abilities to maintain.

I looked at Windows Media Center, but it has two major flaws:
- Can't burn the shows to DVD (DRM?)
- It wasn't clear to me how to get tv listings

I looked at the haupauge recording software, but I think it's manual scheduling only. I'd prefer to use Zap2It.

Here's my requirements:
- Need to be able to schedule recordings (it looks like gbpvr uses Zap2It for listings)
- The recordings need to be able to be burned to DVDs
- Should work with Hauppauage (sp?) 250 (it looks like gbpvr supports this)

edit: also is the 250 a decent card? or should i get the usb one or the 350? it will be in a 1ghz computer.

Thanks!

  VCR Input
Posted by: jsteele - 2005-07-18, 10:50 PM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (3)

I have a few remaining video tapes that I would like to transfer to GBPVR. How would I configure the recording source for this?

I have two PVR150MCE's installed, both configured for cable input and pne configured to handle the satellite receiver input on the Composite In. I presume that I would plug the VCR out to the second PVR150 Composite In but once I do this how to I tell GBPVR to record from this source? Clearly there are no channel assignments for the EPG and I can't manually add anything to the EPG because it is empty for this source.

Thanks

  RSSfeed plugin makes screen flicker
Posted by: arttext - 2005-07-18, 10:30 PM - Forum: Developers - No Replies

As I somewhere else explained, I've been abroad for some time and updating my GBPVR.
I use 0.91.5. The RSS feed (latest) plugin (problably the ticker) makes my screen flicker.
Even if i uncheck all options in the settings of the newsfeed it still keeps displaying the latest feed as a ticker. No options to kill the ticker.

Any sound advice would be greatly appreciated.

Security Camera Plugin - A different kind of webcam
Posted by: jorm - 2005-07-18, 09:38 PM - Forum: Community Announcements - Replies (42)

Use a webcam point it out the window and view it on your tv. Great for security systems. I can add support for ip cameras once I figure out how they work. So if someone has one and wants to be my guinepig send me a pm.

The number on the bottom right is the number of frames received. The 2 frames a second is not a limitation of the code but is how fast gbpvr refreshes. I would love to speed this up but dont think we can.

Feedback...

As always source is available by request. If enough people thing it is useful I will post it on wiki.

The picture is of my depressing gray cube at work.

I have build version 0.70.
It can be downloaded here

Uniform brightness frames such as black, blue or white frames, can now be used as cutpoints.
I can use some feedback if this actually works because it will depend on the TV signal noise levels around the world.
please set verbose=10 in the ini file and mail me a log file

XP sp2 (I have tried disabling the Windows Firewall)
Hauppauge PVR 250
.Net 1.1 runtime reinstalled
EPG Source: Zap2It (I've tried 2 accounts and PW's)

It worked fine with w2k server. However, once I installed xp sp2, I was unable to pull in epg info

Plugins not showing up in main menu
Posted by: jamonroad - 2005-07-18, 03:12 PM - Forum: Old Stuff (Legacy) - Replies (4)

I'm having a problem where Plugins are not showing up in main menu. I have installed the DVD ripper and weather plugins, making sure that the plugin and skin files go to their respective places and also activate them through the config program, but no go.

When I installed the program, I changed the install path to C:/Program files/PVR.

Could that be my problem? Something dosen't have the right path?

Where to find a IR Blaster for 250MCE
Posted by: jorm - 2005-07-18, 03:04 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (3)

I have been using the cable tuner but am thinking about getting satelite. The MCE does not come with an IR Blaster. What solutions are available besides buying a 150 (which is my worst case). I dont want to use the USB-UIRT since sub is dropping support and has lots of problems.

Suggestions appreciated.

  Twinhan Hybrid card
Posted by: funkybro_uk - 2005-07-18, 02:24 PM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (1)

Can anyone confirm or speculate as to GB-PVR's compatibility with the TwinhanDTV D+A card: http://www.twinhan.com/product_D%2BA_1.asp

It offers both digital and analogue terrestrial TV, along with FM radio. Can all these features be accessed simultaneously?
