When looking at the "Manage Recordings" page through the web interface, I noticed that the episode title does not appear as it does in the other parts of the web interface. I would like to see this added because it's a pain to click each recording to see which episode it is. Thanks sub.
First off, I would like to say that you have done a wonderful job on this project.
I do have some suggestions though..
1) Instead of just offering recording capabilities, offer the ability to remind the user whenever a particular show is on. IE: If I am watching something on LiveTV and a new episode of CSI is showing, popup a message on the bottom of the screen indicating the CSI is starting in 5 minutes and offer me the chance to tune to that channel or record it. This isn't really an original feature, it is very similiar to what DirectTV offers.
2) Allow the user to search more specifically, for example: I want to record/watch all Padres baseball games. However, I don't want to record when the Detroit Tigers are playing or many of the other televised games.
3) Allow recordings from all channels, for example: CSI is broadcast on many channels, give the user the option to record whever CSI comes on, on ANY channel, any time.
4) I am not sure what information ZapIt (or other XML Providers) give in their listings, but a category search would also be a nice feature. IE: Search for all sporting events, or more specifically, All baseball. Or Movies, etc...
5) I have seen some plugins that do this, but I think that it is pretty important and should be integrated ino the application. Automatic DIVX/XVID/etc... conversion. This way, movies can be compressed during non-use hours to conserve harddrive space. Commercials could also be chopped out at this time using COMSkip.
All in all, I think that you are doing a wonderful job and I will continue to use GBPVR on my system. Also, if you need any help developing components, please let me know because I am interested. I have 10+ years experience programming, and I know C, C++, C# (probably the most relevant to this project), Java, VB, etc..
I have been unable to get my Twinhan Alpha USB DVB-T to work with GBPVR.
Running XP Home.
Drivers are 1.0.3.0 WHQL certified (off DigitalRize).
In the config, under Capture Sources:
BDA Recording Plugin--> Twinhan DVB-T
EPG Source --> Bleb (UK) , and I just selected BBC ONE to test whether that works.
Channel Changer --> None Required
When I update the EPG and click 'Map Digital Channels', I get the error
"GB-PVR was unable to start the BDA Device you have configured. Check the device is configured properly, and not already in use (reason: failed to locate configured BDA capture device)"
Then I get a C++ Debug Library Error
Expression: p!=0
I have tried using the offical drivers off the Twinhan website, and WDM drivers (though I know they won't work).
I've tried searching to see if anybody has mentioned this before, but haven't been able to find anything...
My problem is not a major one, but I would think it easy to solve and it would be a great improvment in my view
Could you (sub) add a line of code to check if gbpvr is already running when the command to startup gbpvr is given (e.g. green power button on hauppage remote is pushed) and only allow it to start if there is no other instance?
I'm guessing most people might not see it as a problem, but if you have kids that like to play with remotes you might have experienced the same problem as me When there are multiple instances running it tends to make things a wee bit slow and it also messes up recordings etc...
Anyways, gbpvr is by far the best pvr software I've had and I'm really greatful for the work you guys are doing
Once in a while, I record and start watching something, only to find out it isn't the show I recorded (schedule mixup, prempted for news), or only partial. The problem is that it's set as recorded and viewed, and won't be recorded again w/ record tracking in place, and w/o deleting from the DB manually.
Could an option be added to say "didn't see it", or some way to see all programs in the tracker (menued somehow) so you could drop ones you want again?
Also, am I wrong, or in Xrecord does using "Seen It" just do the same as delete that instance? I had thought it would do the opposite of my idea, and manually insert it in the recording tracker.
Anyway, it doesn't happen often, but these would be nice flexibility improments.
Thanks Reven for some great work, have benn enjoying many hours of fun by installing any playing with the emulators.
The problems I have:
1. I can't start a program with the mouse, would be really great when you start a PC game that requires mouse & keyboard.
2. Can't get folder pictures to show, like you have a folder.jpg in My Music. Nice when you have many roms in emultors to seperate them into categories.
3. A search function in Emulators would be great when you have many roms.
I notice it in Live TV the most but also in playback. I hear a crackling. The audio i use is just the standard one that is with the computer (built-in not an add-on card). Now I know it could be a million issues like:
* It could be software
* It could be hardware
* it could be the amp attached to my computer
* It could be wiring
However, I thought i'd ask if anyone has experienced it and might know what i'm talking about and perhaps narrow what the issue might be
