  Season record problems
Posted by: pcostanza - 2005-07-16, 03:03 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (3)

I'm having a problem with 1 season recording. Using TV Guide I set 3 programs to record for season record, all are on the same channel, 1 after another (SG-1, Atlantis and Battlestar Galactica). When I finish setting the recording paramets and click the 'record' button at the bottom and it goes back to the tv guide, usually, the green guide goes to red to show it's set for recording. No matter what I do, the first show (SG1) stays green but the next 2 show red.
If I check it in Xrecord or Recordings, SG1 is set to record a zillion shows and not the 1 want but all the others are set correctly. I've tried this so many times and it still won't work.
Any suggestions?
Thanks

  Double EPG entries???
Posted by: caz - 2005-07-16, 02:53 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (17)

Hi guys.

I have had a minor problem ever since I started using GBPVR and since it seems consistent I thought I would bring up the issue. Quite often I have the same show occuring in the epg twice but slightly offset, example: Seinfeld 22:30-23:00 and Seinfeld 22:40-23:10. I have checked the actual XML file several times, and I find the XML file only has one(the correct) entry. Any idea what is causing this???

Could it be that old EPG info is not "flushed" by updated information?

GBPVR recording starts fast forwarding toward end
Posted by: new2va - 2005-07-16, 12:27 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (1)

Recorded using GBPVR and for first 55 minutes of hour show, everything was fine. During playback of last five minutes or so all of a sudden the video and audio accelerate as in fast forward mode. Runs this way using GBPVR playback or Winamp. I was sleeping so no other apps were running.

PC:
AMD 1600+ (1.4GB) Athlon CPU
160 GB WD 7200 rpm hard drive [8MB cache]-data on 130 GB partition with no other files
512 MB RAM (PC3200)
Epox 8KHA+ mobo
ATI Radeon 9250 video card (new)

  Using the ProgressBar to FastForward/Rewind
Posted by: Lajoie - 2005-07-16, 12:12 PM - Forum: Wishlist - Replies (4)

I would like very much to be able to start a movie and to go the last 15 minutes (maybe because, I had to stop viewing it here the last time, etc).

Maybe there is already a way to do it, but I did not find it yet.
An easy way could be to be able to use the ProgressBar Cursor (a la VideoReDo) to position the Viewing...

Right now, all I can do is using SKIP (+60 seconds) and REPLAY (-30 seconds). So if there is already a better way to do it, let me know, please

  NetRadio: .asf & .ra

I know Sub only supports shoutcast for mvp compatability but would it be possible to have the option to play other streams on non-mvp clients?

Alternatively, is there a work around to relay/convert an asf/realaudio stream to shoutcast - icecast maybe? - I know this would take some cpu and ram... - Any pointers on this greatly appreciated!

  Normailize Audio
Posted by: elite - 2005-07-16, 06:53 AM - Forum: Wishlist - Replies (3)

It would be great if there was some way to normailize the audio in a recorded file - This would be esp. useful if intergrated with comskip/clean and would normalize the different parts individually - I find (in the UK at least) that commercials are much louder than the shows/films...

First problem with the latest My Videos

Tried to get info for Rescue Me and it doesn't seem to be working. A couple other shows I tried are downloading ok. If I input the URL in a browser, I get the expected list of episodes. Here's what I see in the log.

  Resume-after-pause jumps too far ahead

GBPVR - Snapstream Firefly remote - ComSkip and ComClean

Ok......thanks to the loads of help available in these forums, I'm really pleased with my GBPVR setup.

I even have ComSkip detecting commercials and ComClean nuking them with fine results (if only I could detect and delete those Disney in-show promos!!!)

My problem occurs during playback of a recorded show. If I choose to pause a show, the "resume" sometimes skips several minutes.....and I mean SEVERAL minutes.....deeper into the program.

It seems to get worse the later I'm into a show. In other words, a pause in the first 10 minutes of a movie may resume perfectly....whereas a pause 70 minutes into a show may result in a jump of some 20 minutes when I resume.

I placed blame on my FireFly remote at first. I paid special attention to whether I was resuming via the PLAY button vs. the PAUSE button. But both exhibit the same "jump too far" anomoly.

Thanks for your advice/help,

tedxas

server CPU resources needed for MVP?
Posted by: BobAtTorrey - 2005-07-16, 02:03 AM - Forum: MVP & NMT - Replies (1)

I've become interested in building a GBPVR system, largely because it (compared to the alternatives) offers a low-cost and quiet frontend via the MediaMVP. The GBPVR system/server will be my current PC which is an EPOX 8KRA2I motherboard and an AMD XP 2400 CPU. I want to ensure this system will support the configuration I have in mind, but I've searched the forums and can't find any documentation or guidance about how much processor and memory resource is required to support each simultaneously active MediaMVP.

Can anyone point me to such information, if it exists?

Additionally, I would appreciate any comments specifically about whether my XP 2400 will support the following:

1 (and possibly 2) pvr500MCE's
3 MediaMVPs, though no more than 2 active at any one time

If I have 2 500MCE's, then the worst case would be 2 simultaneous recordings plus 2 simultaneous liveTV sessions via 2 MediaMVPs. (My understanding is that the 4 simultaneous captures via the 2 500MCEs wouldn't consume much resource, but I have no idea how much is required to serve two active MediaMVPs.)

If my current system won't support that, what is the minimum configuration which would?

Any help, comments, or guidance will be appreciated.

  Channel Problems
Posted by: blip - 2005-07-16, 01:52 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (2)

So, I set up a zap2it account, put in my zip, and picked my channel line-up. On the web page it looks fine, and in GBPVR it has the right channels (although it does have some extra after the highest). However, when I open GBPVR, it has all the channels, but no listing info for 67-95. Any ideas why? I've updated EPG a couple times.
thanks!
