  Recording Stops
Posted by: pbb - 2005-07-09, 04:42 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (9)

I made a post about this issue a few months ago when it first came up. Since then I've been able to do a few more tests. I've found that when I start watching a recording that is in progress, but do not finish it, the recording either stops or becomes corrupted. I thought it just involved recordings over 90 minutes, but I had it happen on a 30 min. sit-com. What happens is I schedule and start recording a show, and then about 15 minutes into the show I decide to start watching it. Something comes up and I don't finish watching the show (because I figure I can finish watching it later). When I go back to finish watching the show later I find that the end never recorded.

I'm watching the shows using the MVP. I was wondering if hitting the "Stop" button on the MVP remote was stopping the recording? The PC I'm using is an old P3, but it doesn't seem to have any problems with memory or speed.

Is there a way synchronize the CPU clock and the TV clock?
Posted by: daphatty - 2005-07-09, 04:10 PM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (8)

I'm having an issue with my GeeBo PC's clock getting out of sync with my cable providers clock. Every few weeks I notice a big difference in the time difference between the two and I am forced to roll back the CPU clock. I've tried using the built in WinXP time synchronization feature but that seems to make things worse, usually offsetting the time but 5+ minutes. Has anyone had success with this?

Note: Yes, I use the padding feature but more than 1 minute on each end seems excessive to me, especially since I only have 1 tuner. Recording back to back shows on different channels is a PITA.

no recordings, recordings not showing up?
Posted by: reefboy - 2005-07-09, 03:23 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (1)

Not sure what is going on. A week ago or so I missed quite a few recordings after having an out of space error. The Failed messages didn't show up until after rebooting. So I thought everything was fine after that and related to the low disk space. However, it happened again where GBPVR stopped recording and there was no sign of a problem until afer rebooting the computer. Then it showed all the programs which had failed.
Has anyone else had this problem? I have had this computer up and running 24/7 since November and this is the 1st time I've had anything like this happen.
I can post the logs if you wish. Let me know which log you need to see to help.

Thanks!

  MP3 Sound Problem
Posted by: ajahp - 2005-07-09, 02:36 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (3)

I am having a problem where when I play certain MP3s in gbpvr there is a popping noise that sounds like poporn popping that goes with the beat of the music. But it does not occur with all MP3s. It does not happen when I am playing the same MP3s in Winamp or other programs, only in gbpvr.
My setup for consists of My Music playing to a Soundblaster Live card with a headphone -> RCA jack connection to my Yamaha receiver which then is hooked to my Boston speakers. I just installed all of the latest drivers for the soundcard and that did nothing. I figure that it must be a bad decoder or something, but have no clue what to do about it.
Any suggestions on how to correct it?

  Convert2wme and renamerecordings
Posted by: erik - 2005-07-09, 12:52 PM - Forum: Old Stuff (Legacy) - No Replies

Some people have discovered that when you create the Womble mpeg-vcr clip file with convert2wme.bat and you move the recordings to a new location the .wme file can not be used.
This is because the .wme file has the full path names of the clips stored in the file.
This is actually not needed.
If you make the .wme file without the full path to the clip you can move the .wme together with the .mpg to any directory and mpeg-vcr will read the clip list and be able to find the clips because it assumes them to be in the same directory as the clip list.

All locations that have %~dpn?.mpg should be changed to %~n?.mpg

As an example
echo CLIP: %~dpn1.mpg >>x.wme
should become
echo CLIP: %~n1.mpg >>x.wme

  Matrox RTX.100 and gb-pvr
Posted by: is99 - 2005-07-09, 09:24 AM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (2)

Hi guys

I have Matrox RTX.100 in my PC that is used with Adobe Premiere for video editing.

The only way I can record something is by running Premiere and Premiere is not exactly PVR software.

Is there any way to make this card work with gb-pvr ?

  My Pictures 3 alpha
Posted by: reven - 2005-07-09, 08:53 AM - Forum: Developers - Replies (110)

ok here it is, its still missing most features but i need a few people with large image collections (and with large image files, like 5megapixel digital cameras etc) to try out the random feature and the slideshow feature.

whats done
- random
- slideshow
- transistions
- zooming(with blue/yellow)
- panning(with arrows, must be zoomed in, otherwise will go on to next/prev image, and must be paused if in slideshow/random)
- rotate (with red/green)
- webimages (using .xml file, full support of zooming rotating etc, plus will generate a thumbnail)
- folder.png, will generate a 2x2 folder thumbnail for folders without a thumbnail (will use the first 4 images found, if less than 4 images are found, it will look for webimages with thumbnails in the database to fill in the missing; handy for folders that just contain webimages)
- Memory Cards - i added memory cards as a device type when defining virtual root elements

whats not done
-rslideshow
- playlists (still not sure on how i will do this)
- settings (theres no popup menu with settings yet, but can configure most things in the config app)
- config app not fully done (theres a stupid bug on the first page just ignore it(the timer interval text is above the timer interval numeric box, vs wouldnt let me send the label to the back, i have to exit it then reenter it, stupid m$ bug)
- config app is just a cut down copy of the one in myvideos, needs to be edited, the menu is configurable now thou, so can remove buttons and reorder them
- the exif thingy

how to install
just unzip the zip to the gbpvr directory (i suggest you first download the current version (if you havent got any copy of my pictures) and configure that first, you might have problems with this configuration app if its not already configured (you mightnt, but i havent spent much time on this yet).

there are two skin folders "my series" and "my pictures", my pictures just has one single skin.xml file in it, my series has a lot of stuff that is used throughout all of the my plugins.

if you find any bugs post them here, if you have any requests post in the request thread. if it doesnt work post here with the log, it probably wont work for some Smile

oh and dont watch your memory in the task manager, it may seem high and not going down, but thats just .net garbage collector taking its time, it should drop down all of a sudden then go up, then drop, then go up etc. just see if windows says "running out of virtual memory"

also post the results of the transisitions, how long they took, how good they looked etc.

enjoy.

ps you can thank smeghead and Heyt for their help on the zooming code (it would have taken me much longer to do it (if i ever)).

  My Music Sound Quality
Posted by: ajahp - 2005-07-09, 03:16 AM - Forum: Old Stuff (Legacy) - Replies (3)

When I attempt to play any long recorded trance sets ~60 min My Music/GBPVR adds weird popping sounds to the output, but it does not occur with smaller files. Any ideas?
