slowly i see a light at the end of the tunnel :-). After a clean install i finally found that i had to use the Twinhan Tool THDBAConfig to configure the card for GBPVR to detect german channels on Astra.
Now i have a different problem:
I have all important channels mapped and can even see them in live TV. However if i try to switch to antoher channel by pressing UP or DOWN on the keyboard the picture freezes and nothing happens. I have to hit ESCAPE to go to the main menu and then hit LIVE TV again. Then the channel to which i changed appears. Besides this gbpvr.exe throws a error window after showing the picture for some time. I tried this with Overlay and VRM9
Any suggestions are welcome !
PS: With MEdiaportal i don't have any switching Problems but i like GBPVR much more !
They are recorded as MPEG files are they not? They certainly appear to have the extension .mpg on my computer. However, I am unable to view them in Winamp (though I have no problem viewing them with GB-PVR). Are you supposed to be able to view them elsewhere? It's quite possible that I don't have a setting correct or that my MPEG encoder is at fault (Cyberlink). I was just wondering what was going on with that and what I'd need to do to be able to watch the files elswhere.
Also, I assume that GB-PVR wouldn't take kindly to my deleting the video files directly (instead of using GB-PVR to do it) and that I wouldn't be able to copy a recorded file (and put it on a CD/DVD or somesuch), delete it through GB-PVR, put it back later, and then have GB-PVR know that it's there (and thus watch it through GB-PVR). If that's the case, then it's that much more imperative to be able to watch the video files elsewhere since I only have so much space on my computer and if I want to save the files, saving them elsewhere will be necessary. Is it possible to back the files up and then watch them on GB-PVR later after the original file has been deleted? And must you delete the files through GB-PVR if you want it to be a happy camper?
The times that Zap2it Labs gives for my programs are all an hour off. Here's what they have to say about it:

All schedule air dates in the XTVD data from DataDirect are supplied in UTC (Greenwich Mean Time), which is fixed and does not change with Daylight Savings. Therefore, all time offset issues result from misconfiguration in a client using DataDirect.
Many Zap2it Labs users use XMLTV to access the DataDirect service, which requires a user to properly set the time offset. In the current version of XMLTV, this is set in the initial client configuration by running xmltv tv_grab_na_dd --configure, which writes the time offset to the tv_grab_na_dd.conf file. Users of older XMLTV versions may use the "--offset" command-line flag flag to set the offset. Whatever the method, if this is set improperly, then the XMLTV file created from the DataDirect XTVD data will have improper schedule times.

What I would like is either an internal fix for this or the ability to tell GB-PVR to asjust all the times given by the guide by a given amount of time (an hour is probably all that would be needed given the situation). The other option would be to just have a setting that tells it to adjust its internal time by an hour and you'd just have to be aware that all the times that you were dealing with were an hour off.
As it is, I have to input manual timers for everything since the times are all off. I don't know which solution to the problem would be the best, but one that results in the guide giving the correct times would be preferable. Regardless, a fix for this would be quite desirable. It would cause too many problems for me to offset my system clock by an hour to get GB-PVR to record at the correct time, so that's not a good solution for me.
GB-PVR is a great program. Thanks a bundle. But it would be nice if this scheduling problem peculiar to Zap2it could be fixed. Thanks.
Newbie question here so apologies up front. GB-PVR works great and have no problems with it. But when I try to play back any recordings or watch live tv is tells me its playing via TV out. I haven't connected my pc to a tv and wondered if I can set it to play back on my pc - is this possible?
will the program tune my dishnetwork channels on the pc end and not tune my dishnetwork box signal to my tv, or will i have to have an IR transmitter to get it to work at all?
Here's my problem. Whenever the mouse moves in the slightest, the control menu comes up and not only does it block the screen, but it turns it off. I'm certainly glad that it's there, but it gets in the way of viewing the program. I would like the ability to make it so that the mouse causes no reaction from the player. A key to activate the menu would be much better as opposed to the mouse. I understand why the mouse does it - it's a fairly common practice after all - but it's far too sensitive and instead of just a small menu at the bottom of the screen like you would see on many DVD players, it not only blocks a large portion of the screen, but it turns the screen off. This is highly annoying. It's certainly not fatal, but initially I thought they settings were screwed up or something and I wasn't sure that the program was dealing with my TV card correctly. So, I would LOVE it if you were to set it up so that it would take a key press of some kind to initiate the menu instead of the mouse - at least as an option if not the default. Thanks!
P.S. Thanks for such a wonderful player! I just paid $50 for ChrisTV and while it's overall a good application, it doesn't deal with my card properly yet (ATI TV Wonder Elite). Not only is yours free, but it looks a lot better and gives me nigh on perfect TV quality playback. Thanks!
Cant get PVR-150 remote to work fo GB-PVR. My remote worked fine until I installed gb-pvr, and clicked on the enable 45-butten remote button. Now my remote does nothing at all. I reinstalled the the PVR drivers and my remote started working for the winTV software again (until I reset). What I really want, though, is my remote to work for GB-PVR!
I have checked out the irremote.ini file, but I can't see anything that obvious there.
I'm finding live tv and recordings are looking a little fuzzy and the colour is a bit pale/washed out compared to viewing the same source on the TV. I'm running with the latest PVR drivers from shspvr.com, and the latest gbpvr version. Everything else is bog standard WinXP SP2. All the decoder settings etc are left at default.
I don't think it's related to playback as playing a good quality mpeg or DVD looks perfect. The video card is nVida 6600GT playing to a plasma via DVI.
So are there any basic tips to improve the capture quality, in particular colour saturation?
I've tried both looking through this forum & on the wiki but I can't find any information about how icons are gathered in MyVideos.
I've just installed it and I've started doing episode lookups on most of my series recordings, however it's not returning an icon image - is it because of the change to TV.com from TVTome?
Is there any way to set them other than create thumbnail, or an advanced usage of create thumbnail (as it's picked up the end of the opening credits on a couple of south park episodes).
Can anyone help me figure out why i need to include a restart in my PostUpdateEPG.bat in order for GbPvr to record the scheduled shows.
I tried a sample schedule with cdk scheduler. It scheduled everything perfect. gbpvr main screen shows recording soon shows pending. when time comes to record nothing happens, the main menu continues to show recording soon and never records the shows after time scheduled. Later after show is finished gbpvr shows the recording as failed.
Now, if i go into gbpvr's orignal recordings menu(after i run cdk) and click update on the pending show and just resave it, it will record. Also, if i restart the recording service(after i run cdk) it begins to record the scheduled shows.
Any idea why this is, im so close to having this working.
