  xmltv sevice for Australia
Posted by: blackjet - 2005-07-10, 01:31 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (10)

Hello, I'm a newbie. From Australia.
I am on a steep learning curve but coping. I had a few problems and a litte success.
My system is :
Ms xp home
sp2
pentium 4 3ghz
1gb ram
ati radeon 9200se
ac97 obs
divco fusion hdtv dvb-t
80 gb hdd
pioneer cd/dvd +/- rw
32 speed cd rom..
I have used a program I found on Australian XP Media Center Community to grab xmltv for melbourne australia, works quit well.Program is called Bladerunner. If you need a xmltv program for Aust this works.
My problems I have had are annoying but maybe someone can offer a little assisitance:

1: gbpvr does not reconize my fusion dvb-t card when setting up capture sources, I heve to use fusion t1 setting?????

2: sound does not work only when veiwing digital hdtv ( I think I need to some how use the decoders and etc from my card, but don,t know how to).

3: I have a line on the bottom of tv viewing area that annoys me.

4: and I would like a plugin for a very user freindly web browser that i can use my remote control easily with.

Thats about it for now, later I will need help with things like Icon displays of my photos etc

Other than that what can I say, I have trialed many diferent htpc, and media centre software, as many as I could find on the net. The only one's I havent are microsoft MCE, mainlobby and some other fancy looking swiss home media centre..
And I find GBpvr a very good htpc front end...

I hope someone can give me a little advice and Thankyou...

  Removing banner

Is there anyway to remove that banner that comes up at the bottom of the screen when watching live tv?

  No audio
Posted by: Don - 2005-07-10, 06:21 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - No Replies

I tried to record Stargate Atlantis yesterday during their 12 hour back-to-back marathon and the first show recorded fine then the second and third shows did not record any audio, then the fourth show was fine, then 5 did not, 6 & 7 did but 8 did not. I normally have my PC in hibernate mode with a two minute padding. I know that if I try to record back-to-back shows there will not be any padding so I assumed that my PC would record for 12 straight hours. But I cannot figure why some shows recorded fine, but some did not record any audio. This is the first time this has happened to me.

TIA

Don

  Explanation of File Size
Posted by: ydekmekji - 2005-07-10, 05:55 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (6)

I had two recordings today:

Recording #1--3 Hours on PVR USB II--File is 6Gigabyte
Recording #2--5 Hours on PVR 150--File is 15Gigabytes

They both are on Medium recording Setting.

This doesn't make sense to me. Both files turned out great, but it still doesn't make sense to me! It seems like the 5 hour one should be maybe 10-12 Gigs... Anyone have any thoughts?

  Connection to Yahoo Messenger/Mail
Posted by: fhmanas - 2005-07-10, 03:26 AM - Forum: Wishlist - No Replies

Hi, I was just thinking maybe a plugin that will connect gb-pvr with Yahoo messenger or Yahoo Mail since the computer is already logged in to the net, you can check email while watching tv and actually find out who is logged on using YM.

If somebody has done this plugin, can you point me to the right direction

Thanks for a great program

live TV function only works a few minutes
Posted by: marc - 2005-07-09, 10:05 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (4)

I am having problems getting the live TV function on GBPVR to work for more than a few minutes. All functions seem to work fine from PC and MVP (have not tried video recording yet, waiting till I have stable TV) but if I try to watch live TV form the MVP, works fine for a few minutes then crashes looking for servers. When I check the PC the GB-PVR MediaMVP Server has disappeared, if I restart it and power cycle the MVP then all will work for a few minutes then fail again. If I try watching live TV from the PC then the whole machine locks up and I am forced to power cycle it to get it going again.

MP3's will play fine on both without crashing just seems to be TV causing problems.

Would like to include a useful log with this question but I can not determine which log should have useful info. in it.

If anyone has any ideas or experience of resolving this fault I would be very grateful for their input, I am so near to having a working setup it is very frustrating.

Thanks for any help
Marc

BDA multiplexer info (for DVB users)
Posted by: sub - 2005-07-09, 07:44 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (109)

Since I get so many questions about multiplexers, I've created a utility to help people see which multiplexers are installed on their machine, where they are installed, and what version they are.

You can download it from http://www.gbpvr.com/MuxChecker.zip

  AVI to play anywhere
Posted by: ydekmekji - 2005-07-09, 05:20 PM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (4)

This is not a GBPVR related issue, but i thought some of you know how to do video encoding and conversions. But i do burn most of my stuff on DVDs which is where i need help.

I often times give presentations where i like to include clips from shows or movies. I use xmpeg to extract the clip from a DVD, and then I clean it up using virtualdub. And i get an .avi clip that looks pretty good on my computer. I use the divx codecs when i do this.

What i've discovered though is that i can't take this clip and play it on another computer if they don't have the codec. Here's my question: Is there a way or a codec that is so standard that i can encode my files in so that when i transport files, i'm not stuck in the embarassing situation of audio but no video.

Hope this makes sense and hope someone knows how to help!
