I am still a newbie when it comes to understanding this program and how it works but hats off to all involved, I really like it.
That said, I can't get my config utility to accept my password for web access. When I make the change and close the utility it reverts to the previous one when I reopen it. Other changes seem to stick with no problem.
Of course what that means is I can never get past the login screen. Unfortunately, I don't even know what the current password is as I don't recall putting one in. Perhaps there's a default password that I need to use the first time before I can change it.
I've downloaded and installed the enhanced version for web access and have done everything I can think off short of reinstalling the entire program. I have read many posts in the forums and most of the wiki and I haven't found the answer yet.
Is this a program issue, a Microsoft setting or the user? Can I reset this somewhere inside the GBPVR folders? I'm open to any suggestions.
(I'm using Windows 2000 SP 4, Athlon 2100+, Hauppauge 150 PVR, Firefox, Zone Alarm and an SMC Barricade router if that helps.)
Thanks in advance!
I am using both the Hauppauge MediaMVP (wired) and WinTV-PVR 150MCE.
LiveTV works via GBPVR, but I can't seem to get it to work with my MediaMVP. When I power on the MediaMVP it hangs on the "Contacting Severs" screen. It really doesn't hangs it looks to be stuck in a loop, it continueously tries to connect to the GBPVR MVP server.
I was tinkering where you don't like us to, but it may have been worth it.
In direct.ini, I changed these to 0:
Gamma=AUTO
WhiteBalance=AUTO
Gain=AUTO
Do these do anything? I'm trying to tell if it's my imagination, or if it just fixed a problem I've always had w/ natural shadows in the picture getting washed out.
Also, what would changing these do (config.xml)?
<!-- overscan control (zoom is floating point, offset is integer (pixels)) -->
<HorizontalZoom>1</HorizontalZoom>
<HorizontalOffset>0</HorizontalOffset>
<VerticalZoom>1</VerticalZoom>
<VerticalOffset>0</VerticalOffset>
The nVidia card stretches the picture a little too much vertically, and I can't seem to tell it to do just one side. I tried letterbox, but it is too wide. I'd like to just pull down the overscan from the top/bottom just a small amount.
I just ran across GB-PVR and it, with "My Videos", seems like a pretty sweet setup, except... I'm have problems getting it to kick off an external DVD player. When I sniff the command line that was sent to the player (Media Player Classic) it still has "%FILENAME%" unexpanded. I assume this expansion is done within "My Videos", but just to be sure I checked the environment for MPC and it didn't have a FILENAME var.
Are other people able to run external players? I've re-installed everything a couple times and alll versions of the plugin I could find, but the all act the same.
Hope you guys can help me with this one - i'm really tearing my hair out!
After falling out with many PVR programs over the years (don't even get me started on MCE 2005!) I always liked the look of GBPVR. It's no nonsense yet funtional approach seems exactly what I need and the clean GUI looks great on the telly - it's only recently i've had the hardware to give it a go.
Am currently using 2 X GDI Black Gold Signature cards designed for MCE. I have the Cyperlink muxer and GBPVR sees the cards fine and has no problem installing them but when I scan for channels I get the following problem:
All the way through the scan it tells me that it's finding channels and the signal strength is over 80% but throughout the scan the preview window in the top right remains black until towards the end when It shows Sky Sports News for a few seconds followed by the hits (or it might be TMF - hard to tell in the small window). It then completes the scan and tells me no channels are found.
I know my reception is good and I have the correct transmitter settings and the card is obviously initialised otherwise why would it view the 2 channels?
I wondered if it might be something to do with having 2 identical cards?
They work fine with Media Portal and MCE.
It looks like a great piece of software and I'll be happy to make a donation if I can get it working.
Any ideas would be welcome before the wife throws the HTPC and me out on the street!
I was wondering if anyone knew if the ADS Pyro API-555 was compatible with GB-PVR. Im looking to modify my computer to act as a PVR and want to be able to have component inputs. So far it seems this is the only capture device I can find with component inputs rather than S-Video. I also can't figure out if this is a conexant based chipset which would seem to mean it would be compatible.
Ok, so my PVR-500 finally arrived in the mail the other day. I popped it in, installed the latest drivers and fired up GB-PVR. My initial tests worked (much to my suprise) but I finally have arrived at a kink in my project.
First off, my specs:
AMD 1.7 GHz on a non-VIA ABit board (NF7-M)
512 DDR
PVR-500MCE
GBPVR using just the default plugins for testing
I can't get this damn card configured for the life of me. Since the PVR-500 has two hardware encoders I have set up two capture sources in config.exe: "PVR-500 1-1" and "PVR-500 1-2". I am planning on adding one more PVR-500 someday which is why I named them in this way.
I have tried many permutations of "PVR150" "PVR150MCE" "PVR500" and "PVR500 w/ FM Tuner"
Both are set for "Direct Recording Plugin" in the USA. One is "Capture device #1", the other is "Capture device #2". They are both set to Internal Tuners running off of Cable on Medium (default) quality.
Both are using Zap2It which works like a gem. I also updated the EPG for both "capture devices" without a hitch.
I am only running one coaxial cable into the tuner card using the 'second to the right' input jack. I understand this card has a built in splitter, and the right input jack is for the FM tuner (which I dont't intend to use)
When I use TV guide to record 2 programs at the same time, 'PVR-500 1-1' always records a 0KB empty file. 'PVR-500 1-2' works flawlessly. Also, if I try to enter Timeshift mode in LiveTV right away I just get dumped back into the TV Guide page with no error message. However if I 'record' any ol show first (and thus sacrificing it to the 0Kb pit) and THEN fire up timeshift mode...it will work fine.
What the heck am I doing wrong? Do I have all my facts about this card correct? :mad:
