Edited the bda.ini file to include the necessary info to use this card by adding
[V-Stream Xpert DTV DVB-T PCI]
TUNING_TYPE=DVB-T
FILTER_TUNER=Xpert BDA DVB-T Tuner/Demod
FILTER_CAPTURE=Xpert 2388x Transport Stream Capture
PIN_TUNER_IN=Input0
PIN_TUNER_OUT=MPEG2 Transport
PIN_CAPTURE_IN=MPEG2 Transport
PIN_CAPTURE_OUT=MPEG2 Transport
which seems to make sense and work at least a bit. I can now view and record live video from this source BUT it will only display/record channels in the multiplex previously selected in the software that came with the unit.
e.g. If start the software that came with the card and select BBC1 then close the software anf run GBPVR I can get all the channels in Multiplex1 if I do the same and chose Channel 4 in the OEM software I can get all the channels in Multiplex2 if I come back into GBPVR
On the face of it it looks like the Tuner/Demod is not doing anything but the Transport Stream Capture is. I had an unsuceesful play with graphEdit to try and get it running in there but in there it seems that all the tunning is actually controlled via the DVBT Network Provider which I have so far failed to get anything useful out of.
Anyone got any ideas? GBPVR looks like just what I need whereas the OEM s/w is pretty poor so I'm keen to get this working.
I am sick of my dvd's getting scratched and becoming unusable, can I use a combo of mass storage, a video card, and gbpvr to digitally catalog my dvd's and send them to the TV?
after updating to GB-PVR .92 I now have slow channel changing, about the same speed as in time shift mode. The previous version had almost instant channel changing. Is this a bug or is it just me? Can this be fixed?
I upgraded to 92.11 today. It seemed to work okay, so I decided to check out the ForceHighPriorityRecordingService setting in config.xml. After editing config.xml with windows notepad, the app won't start anymore. I've tried using both wordpad and textpad to edit the file, tried saving the file in lots of different encodings, including UTF-8. I'm pretty sure there is nothing wrong with my xml.
The error I've managed to copy is viewed in a .NET framework dialog when trying to start GBPVRTray.exe:
See the end of this message for details on invoking
just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box.

************** JIT Debugging **************
To enable just in time (JIT) debugging, the config file for this
application or machine (machine.config) must have the
jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
The application must also be compiled with debugging
enabled.
When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the machine
rather than being handled by this dialog.
When I press the green button on the 45 button MVP remote, instead of getting the mini guide with the browsable channels, I get just the OSD to come up and on the left it says: Browsing Mini Guide and on the right it gives the time. If I press the green button again, for a split second....I get the info about the channel at the bottom and at the top of the screen i get the progress bar showing how much of the recording i am into at this point.
Any ideas? Is this supposed to be like this? What key combination will give me the two channels at a time in the OSD that shows what is on TV for those two channels....
I use both my PC (in my home office) and TV (in living room) for playback. So I need to change playback properties frequently.
Problem is that when ever I change the playback properties in config tool to use different HW decoder (none/pvr350) and audio renderer (internal/usb), saving the settings also restarts the recording service and kills my ongoing recordings.
How can I change the playback settings without restarting ongoing recordings?
They should not have any relation to each other (except that the config tool restarts the recording service even if I haven't touched anything else than playback settings), or am I mistaken?
I've appreciated all of your support. Reading these posts have been a real education.
I've gotten the MCE remote to navigate around GBPVR. That was easy. What is a foreign subject to me is teaching the MCE irblaster v2004 how to control my satellite box.
Hopefully this can somehow be done through config and not have to mess around with Girder. I've gotten girder to work to a point also, but teaching the blasting codes is beyond me.
I am looking at configuring up a system to gbpvr. I am looking for feedback of TV cards. Basically what I have read seems to point to a hauppauge either PVR-250 or 350 as a solid card to use.
I am in Ireland, and looking at the UK website, is see that the 500 is not offered, so I assume two 350 cards are as good as it gets for the moment, if you want to record and view at the same time. I assume that the 500 is not a PAL card.
Some additional questions ( while I am at it )
Getting an EPG that support Irish channels, ie RTE 1,2, TNG and TV3. Does anyone have any points to implementation experience. Basically I will be setting this up on a firewall behind a broadband connection, so there is no problem picking updates, its where to get them ?
Regarding the video card on the box running gbpvr. I don't intent to view TV output on this box, ie everything will be viewed via the MVP. Based on this I assume there is no requirement for a fast Video card, but rather alot of memory is the main requirement.
OK, so far this is a very cool app. I am begininng to get the hang of it by reading and studying what everyone has written/answered. I am no techie by any means. I use Dishnetwork and the Actisys IR200L. The last question I posted gave me the info to make this work. My next questions is-- is there a way to populate the EPG(Zap) with the PPV listing in Dishnetwork? I know that Titan Tv does list these in their guide, or can the default guide of Zap be changed over to Titan so it can use all the functionallity of GBPVR?
Long winded I know but I think you know what I am getting at.
