  mini guide questions
Posted by: vitaminman - 2005-06-07, 06:08 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (4)

Hey,

Wow, this program is SO DAMN COOL! Had a couple days off and have been doing nothing but putting together a nice PVR on a PIII 850mhz machine collecting dust in the corner...

While reading the wiki site about all the program is capable of, I came across something called a 'mini guide'. I can't seem to find much information about it other than it's a small version of the tv-guide which is layed over whatever you happen to be watching at the moment, it will allow you to browse other channel's information without having to jump back to the tv guide...

I compare this to what my local cable provider (Cox, in Phoenix, Arizona) does when you hit the 'guide' button on the remote.

However, I can't seem to find any documentation on it; all I know is that it becomes available to me when I hit the green button on the MPV remote (34 button). This will display a green overlay with the current time and the text Browsing Mini Guide. I am not able to see any information or browse any channels.

Is this a bug? Work in progress? Something deing removed/replaced?

Take care,

Nick

  possible to save 'live recordings'?
Posted by: vitaminman - 2005-06-07, 04:27 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (5)

Hey,

I was watching ANOTHER Cops marathon today and realized that my girlfriend would like to watch them as well. As I was watching it 'live', I never thought to set GBPVR to record them.

If I look on my temp folder on my hard drive, I can see that there is an enormous .mpg file which has all the live stuff in it, but if I do anything in GBPVR it gets deleted.

Is there a way to save a live tv stream so that I can view it later without having to first set up GBPVR to record? And even better, can I do it from the GBPVR interface without having to go to my computer (I'm using an MVP on my tv in another room).

Take care,

Nick

  PVR-150 no audio
Posted by: 0verkill - 2005-06-07, 01:40 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (1)

Okay here is a weird problem. With live preview, I have no audio in GB-PVR. If I go to time shifting I get audio. If I go to a channel in "Live TV" mode and then go to FM Radio, I get the audio of that TV channel no matter which FM station I pick. I think the hardware is working because I set up a GraphEdit graph and it will give me picture and sound. Thanks for any help.

  Actisys IR200L
Posted by: donzi23 - 2005-06-07, 12:23 AM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (1)

I have my Actisys pointed at my Dish 510 dvr. I would like to control the dvr using the number keypad on the keyboard. Is this possible, I am getting all kind of channel movement up/down displays of programming, wrong channel, etc. Maybe I did not program correctly. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

DVD Decrypter Author Served With Take-Down Order
Posted by: oakleeman - 2005-06-06, 11:43 PM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (2)

The DVD Decrypter author has announced that he has been served with an order to cease his development of DVD Decrypter. The developer has been forced to hand over all source code and the domain that he was using. In a post on cdfreaks, Lightning UK says:

A “certain company" has “decided they don"t like what I’m doing (circumventing their protection) and have come at me like a pack of wolves. I’ve no choice but to cease everything to do with DVD Decrypter.I realise this is going to be one of those "that sucks - fight them!" kinda things, but at the end of the day, it"s my life and I"m not about to throw it all away (before it has even really started) attempting to fight a battle I can"t possibly win.”

HELP help help - MVP reboots
Posted by: onestar - 2005-06-06, 08:56 PM - Forum: MVP & NMT - Replies (12)

Okay, now I've started to get serious grief from the boss! The MVP keeps rebooting mostly a few mins into the recording, but it does it at least once. Goes to connecting to server. On the second attempt of playing the file, it might work all the way through, and might not.

This time though the MVP is playing and then bang reboot. Okay its not crashing on skips, or ff, or pause. Just playing and it reboots. Now watching same file, and I would expect it to go through to completion.

I need some ideas of what to change, fix, make different.

The machine at the time of reboot is not doing anything - no recording, no other playing. Both devices are connected to same hub. Machine is a Semperon 3100+, XP Pro. I know I've been asking different questions and problems, but now I'm getting into trouble for the "new gadget"

  Channel change numbers sent twice
Posted by: rla - 2005-06-06, 08:50 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (4)

Hello,

After experiencing channel change failures to a Pace digital box via Girder and USB-UIRT, I checked the GBPVR.EXE.log and found this repetition:

06/06/2005 21:20:35.963 VERBOSE [2] Switching to channel: 11 (E4)
06/06/2005 21:20:35.979 VERBOSE [2] GirderTunerController.setChannel 144

06/06/2005 21:20:36.182 VERBOSE [2] Sending: GB_TUNE_4

Can anyone advise why this might be happening? This has been working previously.

Thanks in advance.

  v0.92.11 maintenance release
Posted by: sub - 2005-06-06, 06:55 PM - Forum: NextPVR Announcements - Replies (82)

I've just uploaded http://www.gbpvr.com/GBPVR09211.msi

This release primarily fixes a couple of issues from the last release, plus a couple of minor alternations. From the change.log:

Quote:
2005-06-06 v0.92.11
- Fixed a bug with music play lists
- Fixed a bug with season recordings with 'keep all recordings'.
- Fixed Mini-Guide
- Fixed a few minor skin issues in the Blue skin
- Now better able to cope with BDA driver manufacturers changing pin names.
- 'Switch to in-progress recording' now works correctly with timeshift mode.
- Fixed a bug that could cause PAL video to display as 720x480 in some situations
- Fixed a bug that could cause Live TV mouse clicks to be ignored in some situations.
- If a batch file called RecordingStatus.bat exists, this is called by the GB-PVR tray app each time the recording status changes.
- Added <ForceHighPriorityRecordingService> setting to config.xml
- Added FireDTV DVB-S and DVB-T devices to the BDA device support. Thanks digital-everywhere.com for supplying this very nice device.

You should be able to safely install over the top of a previous release, but I recommend you take a back up.

  1 step forward 2 back with Hauppuage Nova-T USB2!
Posted by: stuartlloyd2000 - 2005-06-06, 05:54 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (3)

I have just upgraded to the Hauppauge Nova-T USB2 from the previous Nova-T USB product so that I can use GB-PVR. Unfortunately I can't seem to get things working though it does seem to be close.
GB-PVR (which I've just upgraded to 0.92.8) and .net framework are installed as per website instructions and will play live TV. If I ask it to record it creates a folder. But that's it. No file created. The system tray icon goes green but just stays like that. I feel it must be something simple but I'm now stuck.
Any help gratefully received.
Stuart

  Curious EPG behavior
Posted by: gmorse - 2005-06-06, 04:57 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (3)

Spent the weekend tweaking the system and have got all my problems resolved or worked around.

This isn't so much a problem as interesting behavior. I'd been downloading 2 weeks worth of schedule every couple of days from zap2it and manually loading it in. Decided to switch over to the zap2it plugin over the weekend so I switched to the plugin, purged EPG and selected to manually update it. Went to the TV Guide and noticed it was blank. Scrolled through a few days and noticed that it had downloaded 3 days worth of programming, but this was offset by four days (ie THU 6/9 12:00 AM - SUN 6/12 12:00 AM) and postEPGUpdate.bat was never called. No big deal; I purged, switched back to the XML plugin, reloaded my xml data (through the 18th), switched the plugin back to Zap2It to see how the 3:00AM would go and went to sleep. Overnight, EPG load went fine, looks like program data was extended into the 19th. I guess my question is whether there is a configuration line for the zap2it plugin that is different for the manual load than the overnight load? It seems that the overnight is set for 14 days to me and the manual update to 7 (with something offsetting the start date). As a control, I did a purge and manual update on my laptop and it downloaded 7 days into the TV Guide starting today.

No big deal, just seemed a bit weird to me.
