Just a black screen on live tv
Posted by: nomadh - 2005-06-02, 04:42 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (5)

Interesting prob. I have a win2k pc nvidia fx5200. Works with hauppauge sw fine used to work with your older build when it had a diff video card. I can record and then watch while recording or i can play an older recording fine. So codecs are ok. Its only when I play live tv. Its just a black screen. If I hit esc it just returns to the menu. The build is from about a week ago. I will get more details later. BTW I posted this message a week ago but it seems to have been deleted. Are messages purged evey few days? Sometimes I can't get back to check on a project for a week or so.
Thanks for any help, Damon
PS this is all on the monitor. I haven't even got to the tv out yet.

Is this hardware OK (and an odd question or two)
Posted by: rwcrooks - 2005-06-02, 04:39 PM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (2)

I’m ready to take the plunge. But first, I’d like a little feedback on the following items.

1. Processor. Everyone recommends a 2GHz processor, but they don’t mention the type (like Athlon, Sempron, P4). As long as it is 2GHz, will I be OK?
2. MediaMVP. Looks like the MediaMVP is the way to go for remote control access, keeping the PC (and its noise) away from the TV.
3. Hauppage Cards. Should I go with the 500 (dual tuner) or a pair of 150MCEs? I want the option of watching and recording at the same time, of course. I think that the 500 gives me less heat, fewer components, but higher cost and a single point of failure. The pair of 150MCEs gives me more heat, the ability to start with one and add another later and a lower total cost. Do I need XP Media Center for these cards, or will XP Pro work? I don’t see much of a difference between all of the Hauppauge cards. All have h/w encoders, some have remotes.
4. System. I’m looking at a barebones kit from Tiger Direct (http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/...-1022%20M). Chaintech motherboard, Athlon 2900+ (2 GHz), 120GB Maxtor, 518MB RAM. Anyone have any experience (good or bad) with these Chaintech systems? Cash layout $400, comes with $150 in rebates, total price $250 if all rebates come back)
5. What else do I need to know?

ASUS PVR 416 TV tuner/video card?
Posted by: southiesl - 2005-06-02, 04:09 PM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (6)

Is this card compatible? In terms of functionality it is similar to the PVR250 and is Conexant Blackbird based....can I trick GBPVR into thinking its a 250 or should I just cope with the name brand and go hauppuage?

  Splitting Cable Signal Causing Problems
Posted by: bstempel - 2005-06-02, 02:38 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (5)

So I've got a single PVR-150 and a MediaMVP, and everything finally seems to be working great. Because I'm greedy, I wanted to put another PVR-150 in my machine, but I was concerned about splitting the cable signal yet again. Sure enough, when I split it, I started encountering difficulties. GB PVR had a debug assertion fail (atlcomcli.h line 150, p != 0), and some channels had audio problems. Taking the splitter off again seemed to fix those problems. This is unfortunate, but I suppose I can live with just one tuner. So my question is, has anyone else experienced anything like this?

Why continuous data exchange with ns2.misproductions.com?
Posted by: 4zm4r3d02 - 2005-06-02, 01:27 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (4)

Why is GBPVR continuously exchanging data with ns2.misproductions.com? It is talking from port 8000 on ns2.misproductions.com to port 1073 on my pc, and from 1073 on my pc to 8000 on ns2.misconceptions.com.

Sapphire Theatrix 550 Pro - Only five - No other channels!!!?? UK
Posted by: podrik0 - 2005-06-02, 01:21 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (5)

Hi,
I have chosen GB-PVR from the limited range of software available for my card Sapphire Theatrix 550 Pro. This is because you seem to have a lot of experience, and a vast amount of features.

Anyway the brief outline of my issue and the scenario:
My TV Card arrived 2 days ago, for 2 days straight I have been pulling my hair out trying to get it to work with alternative software inc this. I only just got UK channel 'five' working this morning still distored but works so am happy! Anyway the problem is I have no other channels currently tuning in, I have set all the channel numbers manually aswell via the Tuning Assistant however it is just poor static. It is not my signal as it works perfect with another software, but I don't want to use it, as I find this one nicer Smile and am hoping to be able to get it working with the help you everyone here!!

If it is possible you someone with the same card as me post there config files? Reg keys? So I can easily set everything, as it would be much more easier.

Thanks!
podrik0

Which xml attributes are shown in epg?
Posted by: alibert - 2005-06-02, 06:07 AM - Forum: Developers - Replies (3)

Hi,

i'm currently writing my own xmltv generator parsing the programmes from a website. My question is, which attributes of a <programme> are shown by the epg?
I think that only the <title>, <sub-title> and <desc> tags do appear in gbpvr, other useful attributes like <category>, <year>, the whole <credits> info and so on are not used, right?
Also, sometimes the subtitle is duplicated and appears as subtitle and description in the epg, when the description is empty. Is this a bug or a feature?

Thanks in advance for some information.
