MHEG EPG Data and Digital Radio
Posted by: RizSilverthorn - 2005-05-29, 09:34 PM - Forum: Wishlist - Replies (4)

I hope that I get this right - as Digital TV support has been added into GBPVR, are there any plans on adding MHEG EPG support? I currently use xmltv_rt as a datasource, but it does not have all channels for Freeview (I'm based in the UK obviously!).

Will there be support for Digital Radio?

MVP DivX Sync Fix (Sort of)
Posted by: paperchaser - 2005-05-29, 08:04 PM - Forum: MVP & NMT - Replies (2)

I was having all sorts of trouble getting AV sync (video lagged) with DivX...until:

I tried playing only DivX files located on separate drive than C:. I noticed in the log for Trans2MVP that it creates a "dummy" (frameserver?) .mpg file in the C:\MyVideos(my default gbpvr folder), so I thought maybe a slow disk or just disk thrashing was the culprit. Using 2 separate drives seemed to help, even though I think my PC is over 2gHz.

I guess this isn't really a "fix", but something to try if your DivX playback seems to stutter or get out of sync.

It would be nice though if there was a way to configure GBPVR to tell it where to put the temp .mpg file during transcoding, allowing users to send it to their fastest writing drive.

  can't stop sound
Posted by: jariw - 2005-05-29, 06:55 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - No Replies

Hello,..

Perhaps a stupid question but...while some people can get sound i cant get stop the sound.

When i connect the system to the external satelite decoder the picture and sound works well. Even when i dont wathc live tv there is sound. Even when i playback a recorded movie there is sound from the movie and from the program from that moment.

I cant stop the incomming sound!!

Has anybode any idea???

Thanks in advance..
Grtz

How does Audio work on playback?
Posted by: ydekmekji - 2005-05-29, 06:02 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (3)

How does the audio feed work on playback? When I play a show that I recorded, sometimes (pretty intermitently), the audio goes out (maybe 10-30 seconds) and then it comes back. At that point, if I exit out of the movie and i'm on the main menu, even bleep bloop doesn't work.

When I play the mpg file that i recorded through windows media player, it's all fine, the audio doesn't go out.

Maybe someone can explain how audio works, so that I can figure out why this problem occurs for me...

Automatic MPEG to DIVX convertor plugin
Posted by: erik - 2005-05-29, 05:57 PM - Forum: Old Stuff (Legacy) - Replies (35)

This is my first plugin

It does about the same as the Auto-Nightly Pocket_DivX .mpg to .avi conversion as made by American_rob but it does not require the installation of additional software and it starts from postprocessing.bat
It automatically converts the recordings from MPEG to DIVX (avi)
You can download it from here mencoder_0_0_0.zip, no additional software is required.
Unpack the zipfile in the GBPVR home directory.
Please be aware that the zip file contains a postprocessing.bat file that will overwrite your current postprocessing.bat file (if any)
Inside you will also find man_page.html containing the documentation for the settings of mencoder, rather complex!!.
The menconder.exe and xvidcore.dll are copies coming from the windows version of mplayer coming from http://www.mplayerhq.hu
Conversion speed of the included settings is 2 times faster then realtime on a 1.8GHz laptop.
Can someone test it?

  Unscheduled shows in Recordings.
Posted by: reboot - 2005-05-29, 05:55 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (4)

I use fastfind to schedule most stuff.
Everything I schedule is Season Record.
Every time I restart my computer, and check Pending recordings, I have David Letterman, and American chopper.
I didn't schedule these shows, never have, never will.
Why do they keep showing up in my scheduled recordings?

Is it all worth it in the end?
Posted by: adamopolis - 2005-05-29, 03:10 PM - Forum: MVP & NMT - Replies (13)

Hi, I've been wrestling with my new Hauppage WinTV PVR USB2 and MediaMVP units, on which I am trying to get GB-PVR running, after about three weeks of updating drivers, calls to tech support, returning products, reinstalling, tweeking, twiddling and the rest of it I have finally got a TV picture to appear via GB-PVR on my TV!! I stll have the following two problems though:

1) Cant play DivX AVI files on my MVP, I can play the movie files through gbpvr played locally on my laptop but when I click on the movie file the tv goes to a black screen, and then a trans2mvp.exe error pops up on my computer, the gbpvr service restarts and the MVP reloads and comes back up to the main menu.
2) TV Quality is horrible, switching from WLAN to ethernet helps a bit but it is still not watchable, have researched this and tried many different settings with no success. The audio is stuttering and the picture is very bad quality.

I understand that this is not a Tivo, and I am up for spending some time to tweak it to get it to work, but is it worth it? Judging by the number of problems other users are having, is this as good as it gets? I suspect most problems seem to arise from the Hauppage HW, from what I can see the GB-PVR behaves well and is highly configurable - big love to Sub for building the thing and taking time to help us all out. If I get a working system I will definitely donate - and add what I've learnt to the Wiki.

If someone could point out what I may be doing wrong I would be really grateful...

My setup is:
WinXP Pro SP1, Directx 9.0c, .Net 1.1, FFDShow 20041012_SSE2, Hauppauge 2.2
GBPVR v0.91.12
Intel P4 2.0Ghz, 1GB RAM, laptop

Thanks everyone!

Help for a new GBPVR starter.. please..
Posted by: venger - 2005-05-29, 02:54 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (1)

Hi all,

I've been using Mediaportal for the past month.. and while
it looks and works great.. MP is really designed to be a fulltime HTPC. Sadly, I only have one PC and it needs to multi-task Smile

GBPVR seems to be flexible. However, I have a couple of rookie questions that I can't seem to find answers from the old posts:

(1) Some MCE remote's buttons do not seem to work in GBPVR (eg, Info, Recorded TV, Live TV, Guide, DVD menu). The most useful button that is missing support is the Info button - am I missing a setting?

(2) I am trying out the default skins and they all look really blurry on my 1024x760 LCD and PAL TV (compared to MP's skins). In fact the fonts are too big and do not fit inside the buttons. I would have thought that my HTPC configuration is quite common - so are there any alternative skin files to use?

thanks!
