  Movies
Posted by: kloper - 2005-05-28, 12:18 AM - Forum: Wishlist - Replies (4)

Something I liked from a tivo was the ability to list all movies that will be playing within the next 12-24 hours. It would be really nice to implement something like this in GBPVR. Is this possible through a plugin?

  Hauppauge IR receiver (making one)
Posted by: dneprrider - 2005-05-27, 10:22 PM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (4)

I am helping a friend put together his own PVR, but when he got his PVR250 card there was no IR receiver. I am sure it is simply an IR LED and current limiting resistor molded in plastic with the mini stereo jack on the end. However I am not 100% on this and what the pin out would be. I am asking if any one in the forum has ever taken one of these apart and could identify the parts and pinout.

Or if any one has an unused hauppauge IR reveiver they would considering selling? I want to make his PVR experience a good one and from what I have seen here, this is the place to be. I will be donating to sub for the great product and for the help along the way.
Regards,
Richard

  Xcard
Posted by: bobmook - 2005-05-27, 10:19 PM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (2)

Through a rather remarkable series of coincidences I'm recieving an Xcard in exchange for helping someone out at work. I feel I should at least attempt to try it out, so I have a few questions.
Can I use the xcard to do all my upscaling? (as near as I can tell it won't work w/ ffdshow so I hope so)
From what I've gathered the xcard is not a TV card just a decoder card...is this correct?
The GB-PVR interface will be limited to 256 colors under the xcard.....correct?

Any responses/tips will be appreciated, this is a totally foreign piece of hardware to me.

  Dvd2mpeg
Posted by: jerry430 - 2005-05-27, 09:12 PM - Forum: Old Stuff (Legacy) - Replies (1)

Got my PVR-150, MediaMVP and GBPVR (and Comskip) working perfectly, so naturally I'll continue to mess with it til I screw it up.
I installed the DVDRipper plugin (with Decrypter) and ripped a commercial DVD to my hard drive. No problem viewing it on my PC. I then tried to burn the ripped file to a DVD+R using Nero software. Everything seemed to be going well when I went to bed last night. Got up this morning (8 hours later) and it was only 11% loaded.
So my question is, do I have to load the DVD2MPEG plugin to burn a DVD in this way? If so, I probably won't bother since it's so involved and I'm basically a computer idiot.
It seems to me that, since I'm attempting to burn the same type of file that I ripped, I shouldn't have to do a conversion.

  3rd Party Remote
Posted by: gimble - 2005-05-27, 03:59 PM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (5)

I've got a GBPVR setup with Hauppauge 500MCE card, and it works and looks great OTA ... very happy with computer output. However, I want the output on my TV (downstairs).

I've been trying to get my old MediaMVP to work properly, and have had no luck so far ( as detailed in the MVP forum ). As a matter of desperation, I'm looking at a backup plan: moving the PC down by the TV, dedicating it to GBPVR, and getting a remote.

To my dismay, Hauppauge doesn't sell a remote for the 500MCE, and recommend Media Center remotes from Microsoft. Since I'm running XP SP2, I am uncertain as to whether GBPVR supports these remotes or not.

I have found the ATI Wonder Remote, with some Googling to determine that it's not directly supported but can be made to work with GBPVR. However, I'm hoping for a less compicated solution if I have to go to a dedicated GBPVR box.

It's my 'druthers' that I could get my MediaMVP to work, but I'm reaching the point of skepticism that I'll get it to properly coexist with my network. So, the following questions:

* Is there a recommended remote for GBPVR I can purchase without purchasing another capture card? If so, what is it?

* Will the recommended remote work with Windows XP SP2?

* What's the practical minimum memory for a dedicated GBPVR box? 256MB? 512 MB? I'm currently using 1GB, but would rather reuse the memory in a replacement box if I can ( assuming I have to dedicate a box to GBPVR to do what I want ).

  Change Options Order
Posted by: Moat - 2005-05-27, 03:17 PM - Forum: Old Stuff (Legacy) - Replies (2)

I would like to change the order of the options that popup when you select a program from the TV guide. Right now it's:
Exit
Record
Watch

I would like to make it:
Watch
Record
Exit

Is this a change I can make to a skin.xml file? I looked at one and didn't see the option.

  UK TV Listings from Bleb
Posted by: bounce - 2005-05-27, 02:01 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (2)

Probably the wrong place to post this but here goes...

Been looking at getting UK TV listings from Bleb as part of my investigation prior to building my PVR around GBPVR to see how it all works. I've tried using GrabEPG and DGUK but both programs only seem to return the XML data for a few channels rather than the 40 or so I've set up in the configuration.

Any ideas why I can't get data for all the channels?

Thanks in advance
Bounce
