It looks like the "SUPPORTS_FM_RADIO" part is switched between them, compared to the 150MCE, 250 with FM....
I dont have a PVR500, I was looking through the direct.ini for something else, and was comparing cards.
But I really miss an option to delete a video. For instance, when I rip DVDs, I'd like to be able to delete the file when I don't need it anymore. Is there a way to add that function?
The problem i have is that when i try to use live tv on the mvp i get the begining of the last played mpeg. This can be a recording which i have been watching or a film. Live tv works great on the pc.
I am completely new to this and am running PVR-150 under XP).
I have looked through the CONFIG and also the FAQ and other pages here ... Is there a way to force 4:3 aspect ratio when viewing live TV in a window? :confused:
I've been comparing remote speed on the MVP with regular software and GB-PVR's software. The problem I am having is that with GB-PVR remote control is very slow and makes the entire MVP unusable. I havent seen too many threads about this, so I am assuming that this isn't a common problem. I realize that there is a lot of thigns going on in the background to respond to a remote action, but how is it that nobody else minds?
In the main menu, it takes about 1 second to respond to a button being pressed. This can be difficult to manage with, especially when having 5 entries you need to get through.
When watching something, however, things get a lot slower. For example, when bringing up the small guide, it takes about 5-6 seconds to be able to move down on the list. Does it take this long for everyone?
My comp specs are: ASUS A8V Deluxe, 100mbit wired network with Netgear WGR614, 2GB Low Latency RAM, AMD64 3500+, ATI Radeon X800 XT Platinum and a PVR-350.
I've downloaded both FFDshow and DScaler4, and I cannot tell whether or not they are actually being used by GB-PVR. Is there a way to tell? I don't see any icons in my system tray, or any other indication that these "installations" have done anything at all.
Can anyone point me to a place like "ffdshow and Dscaler for morons" site? There seems to be a high level of expertise and/or computer science degrees that is assumed by the community, that I simply don't have.
Sub mentioned in the change log that with the improved DVD operations its best to use the Microsoft DVD navigator.
I was just wondering what are the best mpeg2 decoders to use in conjunction with this option??
The reason I ask is that with my 44 button hauppauge remote, there does not seem to me a button that corresponds to the "menu" button on a regular DVD remote. i.e. i would love to be able to jump back to the main menu screen of a dvd rather than exiting the dvd playback and relaunching from scratch....
I had a MediaMVP, shelved it after a system reload, and then recently discovered a neat article on PVR via GBPVR and MediaMVP. So, ordered a Hauppauge card ( 500MCE ), got it working on the desktop with GBPVR, and life was good.
Then, I dug out the MediaMVP, and attempted to get it up and running again. Below is the email I sent to Hauppauge tech support, but note that I was getting the same results with both the Hauppauge software and with GBPVR for the most part ( got GBPVR to run on the MediaMVP once or twice, but had immediate timeout problems when I started the live TV session ).
I was careful not to have both GBPVR and Hauppauge software trying to service requests from the MediaMVP, so I got to the point of even uninstalling one software package before installing the other. Frustration will make you do crazy things to make sure you aren't missing something or other.

I've owned the MediaMPV for about a year, and the first nine months had no problems. Downloaded the beta software at that time ( first ones that supported DivX, although I wasn't using DivX ), used a crossover cable to my Dell Dimension 2400 ( Broadcom built-in ethernet port ), and I was good to go for viewing video ( don't use anything else ).
I even used it a few times with a crossover cable to a laptop, and still had no problems. Great little piece of equipment.
About two months ago, I had to re-load the Dell 2400 from scratch. Since I was rather busy at the time, I just put the MediaMPV on the shelf and didn't try to use it or anything. However, this last week finally gave me the time to dig it out and try to hook it up.
I downloaded the current release software ( tried beta too, after problems ), hooked everything up on my network, and no go. All indications seem to indicate a network problem of some time:
* Usually gets stuck trying to contact the MediaMPV server.
* Sometimes gets stuck while Downloading Application
* Sometimes even loads application, GUI starts up, can select videos, but videos hang a little bit into playback ( they played just fine on the MediaMPV three months ago, so I doubt it's the encoding on all of them ).
As a result, I started trying to place blame elsewhere. Replaced cables, changed hubs, used ( and didn't use ) wireless, all of which have the same result. As a last resort, I loaded the laptop with the MediaMPV software and replaced the server ( in case it was something to do with the software reload of the Dell Dimension 2400 ).
I even went to a four-port hub ( not switch ) and tried not using DHCP but using the static IP as listed ( I don't have a reliable crossover cable any more, so this was the closest approximation ). This seemed to work a little better ( usually got the application loaded ), but videos still stuttered and hung on playback.
As you can tell, I've had absolutely no luck at this point, and have tried to replace everything at one point or another *EXCEPT* the MediaMVP itself. I'd even replace it, but that's a cost I'd rather not incur if there's a way to determine if the MediaMPV itself is functioning properly.
Can you give me any suggestions on what to try next?

I'm hoping some of the experts here might even have a suggestion on what I can try next. If the only answer is "buy another MediaMVP" I can do that, but I'd rather find a more economical solution if possible.
I have just about got my PVR working, but I have some heat issues with the PVR-350, it just gets so hot, and I dont want to make it too noisy with fans. Besides, not to happy with my pvr-250/epia M10000 stability anyway...
so...wondering...
whats the best, supported, MPEG hardware codec card to use for GBPVR, that outputs the least heat? (Not to concerned about the TV-bit)
On separate scoring, one that saves/plays MPEG4 would be really good, and if it could play standard DIVX, that would get top marks...
