I've noticed all the skins I've tried in GBPVR have the same issue with the fonts in the main menu: they suffer from aliasing or jagged edges. Does anybody have a workaround for this? This is the main reason why I haven't moved all my htpc clients to GBPVR yet...my wife and kids are used to the smoother fonts of MCE, but I love the fact that GBPVR is less of a resource hog and doesn't require high-end hardware to run.
If you have any tips I would really appreciate it. I run GBPVR in full screen mode where the jagged fonts are much more noticeable.
In the video section of Xrecord I do not see any videos that have the extensions of wmv. They show up in the other video plugins and play. Can Xrecord be configured to show these? I have looked in the XML files but have not seen any indication of where this could be done.
I have completed my first pass at my ComskipHelper utility. This basically makes sure that all of your programs get Comskip ran on them, even ones previously recorded. It also controls the priority of the Comskip process, and limits the number of Comskip processes to one.
This is my first pass and I have been using it as is for a little over a week without incident. If you decide to use this, please let me know how it works. Also, read the ReadMe.txt file and comment on any other enhancements you would like. I'm releasing the debug build so that if there are any issues, I can get the exact exception that has occurred.
Hi everyone - I'm a brand new user and am enjoying the product; working great out of the box. Trying to be a good parent, I like to limit TV usage for the kids and it's really nice to be able to easily pull up a reading rainbow, or some other quality recording when they do get some TV time...
I'm a little confused about the choice of decoder. Of the free options available, why wouldn't Happangue just give me the best? Or is the decoder based on your TV card? It seems different chocies work better for different people, but I'm not sure why - or how - to find the best on for me. I've seem lots of links to decosers while reading this forum, but not sure which of the dozens of options is right for me. From a technical standpoint, I'm not very comfortable loading and unloading lots of decoder code.
Reason I'm interested: Playback quality of a past recording or even a recording that is already part way recording if pretty good. However, I can't watch live TV without freezes of the picture every other second. I literally get more frozen/paused TV than motion. So far I'm happy enough with the recorded stuff, but watching live TV might be nice to have. I think a better matched decoder might help me.
My specs: 2.0 celeron with XP pro, about 512 memory w/ 7200 rmpm ata drive. I also use a Soyo Motorboard with ATI video integrated into the motherboard - maybe that wasn't such a good idea, i don't know - Actrually - seeing as Soyo never delivered my rebates, I know it wasn't a good idea. But that's what I have... I have a single hard dirve, video partition already formatted in 64 blocks, I think I have xp pretty well tweaked for speed. I do have virus scan turned on and my version doesn't allow me to not scan a particular drive partition.

I'm using a Hauppauge 150 and the recording I'm doing in GB-PVR are just not the greatest quality.
Is there somewhere that can tell me the best settings for what I want to do?
Also, is it possible to capture in avi format? Maybe transcode to xvid?
I'm currently in the process of getting a home-brew PVR setup in my home. I've been looking into the use of GB-PVR, and I think I'm wanting to use the RecTracker program to help remove duplicate episodes from my recording schedule. I've setup a testbed for just playing around with the GB-PVR stuff (no actual recording hardware connected) and to demo to my wife the fun things we have in store
So, I've added the RecTracker program to my gb-pvr folder, and started messing around with it to see how it works. Now, it seems that when it comes time to do a:
rectracker -purge
It ONLY deletes ONE duplicate item from my schedule, even tho there are many duplicates of a particular episode.
For my test, I have MythBusters set to record all episodes. I marked two different episodes of MythBusters as recorded, and manually called the rectracker -add with their ID's. Databases both look good.
Now, calling the rectracker -purge command, it shows that it deletes two duplicates (one for each different episode), however one of the MythBusters episodes had 3 different occurances -- and only one was deleted.

I've downloaded Dscaler 5, run the auto-install package, and I get nothing. I can't seem to select it as a decoder. Any hints/tips on what I'm doing wrong? Do I need to move something to some folder somewhere or something?
I am using GBPVR very successfully on my PC, which I send into hibernation, and then it wakes up to perform GBPVR tasks such as recording, or updating the EPG.
I am trying to find a way to send it back into hibernation. I have a way of putting it into hibernation from dos with nircmd . Basically, I just need a way of running this command only when the PC is not in use. I don't want it hibernating if I am running other applications. I just need a way of saying "if computer inactive for >5 mins, run the nircmd hibernate" in DOS. That way it will not hibernate unless the machine is not in use.
I thought I would have a poke around & modify some skins to see how they work, but I'm not sure how the size dimensions work in the following lines from the standard Blue skin
