  Uniform branding i.e. "GB Guide"
Posted by: dutchfudge - 2005-05-15, 08:40 AM - Forum: Wishlist - Replies (13)

I would like to see more concentric or uniform branding on some of the more essential plug-ins.

For example, Guide2J is a nice upgrade(channel logos AND station numbers, recording status, etc.), that should be assimilated into the core program.

Barring that, tried and true plug-ins could be homogonized to mesh with gbpvr. Mostly an aesthetic thing, names like guide2j and xrecord seem removed or not to match in the gbpvr dashboard to me.

Opinions, thoughts, and rants apply here Big Grin

  PVR-350 PIII 933mhz ?
Posted by: Allen - 2005-05-15, 07:11 AM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (6)

I have searched this forum and found similar questions and answers but wanted to ask my specific question to get an answer.

I currently have a Pentium 3 933mhz processor with 256 ram. I have two belkin 54mb g routers one as a router and the other as a bridge to connect my MediaMVP.

Will the Hauppauge PVR-350 enable me to pause live tv along with the other normal PVR functions. I thought that since the 350 has an encoder and a decoder most if not all the work would be done by the card and my system specs would not need modifications.

Thanks in advance
Allen

  Live TV C++ Assertion Error
Posted by: superic - 2005-05-15, 03:02 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (2)

Hi,

Every time I start up Live TV, I am getting a C++ Assembly Error. After that I get the good ole .NET "object reference not set to an instance of an object" error.

The TV keeps playing just fine until I click Abory, Retry, or Ignore -- then it just closes. Does this happen to anyone else?

I've included two screen shots of the errors. Any help would be appreciated :-)

Eric

  Confused and need clarification
Posted by: roger.wilkerson - 2005-05-14, 10:22 PM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (6)

I'm in the process of adding a pvr card to my system(AIW doesn't cut it).

However, I'm confused partly by the difference between the pvr and pvr mce cards of Hauppauge. I know that the major difference between the two products are that the pvr's come with remote and the 350 is the only version with the fm turner built in;while all three mce versions are without remote and do come with fm tuners.

However, what's confusing me is the general disclaimer that is included with the mce version that an mpeg decoder isn't included. I see no such disclaimer with the 150/250/350 pvr.

What does this really mean?

G550 Beats AIW, but no OSD?
Posted by: CaptainVideo - 2005-05-14, 10:07 PM - Forum: Hardware - No Replies

After reading posts and discovering for myself, the only real good way to get decent video quality is to either chose an output method designed just for video (Xcard, PVR-350, or what I tried, a G550) or go DVI. DVI isn't an option for me. The All-in-Wonder lacked color saturation, detail, and contrast compared to the G550.

But the G550 lacks on-screen display during video playback. Has anyone found a way to get OSD working with a G550?

If you choose to just display the desktop (no DVD max) video playback only shows a black window in S-Video out.

Thanks in advance!

  Reinstall, save capture source, etc.
Posted by: dutchfudge - 2005-05-14, 08:59 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (2)

I had changed the default directory when I installed. Figure this may be part of some of my problems. Will reinstall to default.

What files do I need to backup so I don't have to run capture source configure, channels etc. again?

I will be reinstalling plugins after to insure proper install

  Lost channel 74!
Posted by: mlanglois - 2005-05-14, 08:55 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (8)

Hi! I'm in France, where "AB1" netword is on channel 74.
I used to be able to it with GBPVR, but since two days ago (I think when I installed the lastest version of GBPVR) I can't see it anymore!

I have checked that it is still in the channels list in my capture card settings (I use WinTV-PVR 150), and it's also on the favorite channels. However, when I switch to that channel nothing happens: the previous channel stays on the screen (even though OSD states that I'm watching AB1).

Any idea of why I have lost this channel? (BTW, it works OK on my TV, so the channel itself is not faulty).

Can I use gbpvr with no Tuner card Temporarily
Posted by: DMikeM - 2005-05-14, 05:49 PM - Forum: MVP & NMT - Replies (5)

Ok, my first post here.

I have a new MVP and have my PC in the home office but have wired my VIVO geForce card to my entertainment center to watch and cap TV on the PC. I do not own a PVR/Tuner card yet but will soon. Can I install GBPVR to take over functions of the MVP until I purchase the card?

I would just like to take advantage of the fine interface it uses and dump the MVP one.

  BlueMCE and Plugins
Posted by: lonc_25 - 2005-05-14, 05:38 PM - Forum: Old Stuff (Legacy) - Replies (1)

Hey there,

I can kind of new at all this. I haev tried several other PVR progams and so far I really like GB PVR.

I do have a couple questions... I am using the BlueMCE skin and I am trying to get the My Pictures and Weather plugins to work.

First, My Pictures... Everything works just fine, except I get no thumbnails or file names of the pics. I looked in the mdb and they look like they are all listed there. But I can't get anything to display.

Weather, If I go into the plugin, sometimes it searches for the weather in my area or right away I get.. Error: an object reference not set to an instance of a object.

I also tried the Blue skin and My Pictures or Weather didn't even show up in the list Thanks in advance for any help, I would like to get this working and maybe get the wife to approve.
