Sometimes I am recording a program and an hour into it the computer crashes. When the computer is started up again etc GBPVR wipes out the first hour and records the last 10 minutes! Is it possible for GBPVR to keep the first recording and append the last bit to it?
Having recorded the programs I am now filling up the hard disc with 'want to keep' or 'need to watch' programs. I have a DVD writer which I haven't used yet (or when I did it took an absolute age before showing 3% progress (4X, +RW)).
Questions:
1. How do I reduce the quality (& therefore size) of program and test it before writing to DVD?
2. How long does the writing take?
3. Where is there general information on the Internet re. making DVDs?
4. Does anyone else have a routine or hardware that helps them keep on top of storing recorded programs?

Let me know if any of the GBPVR plug-ins support "ripping - burn GBPVR show(s) to DVD ", I have seen one that does the reverse "copies from DVD to GBPVR".
I am interested in selecting shows recorded in GBPVR and ripping them to DVD. This could be as simple as quick access button that does the burn, or more complex with the ability to search directories within GBPVR (records,libarry etc,) select and define compression rates and audio rate, show space required on DVD to rip (burn disk). Posssible even define items such as type of burn CD or DVD, burn type VCD,SVCD,XSVCD,AVI,DIVX,DVD,Mpeg,MPEG2,MPEG4, additional enhance features.
As you may note this could end up consuming alot of time but hey it worth a shot to ask, even if this feature started simple and evolved hoepfully some would find it worthwhile, I am not sure where you would start to program something like this and I can imagine its not easy.
It would just add to the features that set GBPVR above the rest
This could be a pretty powerful feature for GBPVR, especially to those who have wives whom are constantly bringing home requests from their friends/family for shows that have been recorded.
Hey there, everything was working nicely, until suddenly the Live Tv now comes on, blasts about 2 sec of audio and then flips back to the main menu.
Any ideas?

I am having a problem with the playback of DVD's (either from the disc or from an iso version), whereby I can't get them to playback in 4:3 Pan & Scan, even though this is set in my preferences. WinDVD can play the disk back in Pan & Scan, but in GBPVR all I can do is use the yellow button to switch between either a letterboxed view or a squashed full screen view. I am using the Intervideo decoders.
Just in the last week, there must have been a Directv receiver firmware update that broke the command line utility for changing channels thru the serial port on the receiver. (It has been working fine for me over 2 months)
What happens now, is that 2 digit channel numbers cannot be dialed in with just 2 digits nor with padding to make it 3 digits (ie channel 12 cannot be dialed by "12" or "012"). I even tried the Windows GUI version and saw the failure errors when trying to dial 1 and 2 digit channel numbers.
Is there another way to utilize the serial cable for changing channels on my DSS sattelite box? or am I stuck buying an IR blaster?

First off i just wanted to say this is a great site and very helpful.I have a few questions i am a noobie to this and am planning on building a stand alone htpc.Was wandering if this will be a good start my specs- Amd athlon xp 2000+,512 ddr 266 mem,120 gig harddrive,geforce 4 mx440 with tv out, Hauppauge WinTV-PVR-150MCE "just ordered today" need a mini atx motherboard still and a nice sub $150 htpc case. Just wandering if this will do?
