  Slow Interface?
Posted by: kmkestell - 2005-05-04, 11:40 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (3)

Hey! I've been using GB-PVR for about a month now, and so far I've found it to be a good free alternative to some of the other non-free PVR packages, however the slowness of the user interface has really been freaking me out.

I've noticed that whether I use my Hauppauge remote or the keyboard, navigating the menu is pretty painful. The lag between when I select an option or move up or down in the menu to when I see some feedback on screen varies, but is usually greater than half a second, and sometimes might even be as long as five seconds. I might add that this is when nothing is recording in the background, and GB-PVR is the only application running. Also, I'm sure that GB-PVR isn't simply missing keyboard/remote events, as all keystrokes or remote button presses are eventually processed in the order I issued them.

This interface lag is especially bad in the TV Guide, and It's really frustrating to not know whether the IR receiver registered your remote button press or not, and hitting the button again, only to have all the presses go through in one huge blast, and having strange, unexpected results because of my extra button presses.

Has anyone else ran into this problem? I understand that video capture and playback can be pretty CPU intensive task, but navigating menu's should ALWAYS be fast.

  Ffdshow with Mpegs
Posted by: abcwille - 2005-05-04, 09:37 PM - Forum: MVP & NMT - Replies (2)

I use Ffdshow with my Divx movies, but I cant seem to get it working with Mpegs. I think the MVP is darkning the movies a little and would very much
let Ffdshow correct that.
Or is there another way to brighten the movies? and not on the TV.

  Wake-up my GBPVR remotely?
Posted by: Senior47 - 2005-05-04, 07:19 PM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (4)

When I'll have to do something on my GBPVR I use RemoteAdministrator which works great, but it would have been great to wakeup the box remotely to.
If I want to record a program, I could "login" from my main pc and start the recording from there. Now I'll have to go into the room, turn the box on first!

In Bios I can enable "Wake-On-Lan", and the LAN adaptor can be set to "Allow this device to bring the computer out of standby" (would have preferred "from hibernation, but Wink )

But now I'm in a dead end, what do I need to go on? Can anyone help me here? Preferably with links to a good "how-to" but any help are appreciated!

  Recording missing audio sometimes
Posted by: rahrens - 2005-05-04, 03:17 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (6)

I have been using GB-PVR for a couple months and have been very pleased with it. I have not downloaded the lastest version yet and still running v0.90.7c. One out of 10 or 20 recorded shows seem to have no sound. I have tried playing them through MVP and on computer using GB-PVR, Windows Media Player, and Nero ShowTime, but no sound.

Running current version of XP Pro on HP Pavillion P4 1.7Ghz, 768mb, 160gb. Only plugin is ComSkip. Using PVR-150.

Would appreciate any help.

DMCA to be jamed down your throat.
Posted by: sash - 2005-05-04, 02:33 PM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (9)

looks like the DMCA, will be attempt to be jamed down your throat no matter were you live in this world.. canada reject the idea the US, is trying to force on us, last week, but like little children the US goverment, took it usual stance, of bruised ego. " We reject your rejection, and you're going to do what we want, because it good for the whole world" ( blah blah ).. now will come the illegal sanctions against Canada again ( in the form tarrifs. ie softwood, pork, and a ton of other stuff, the US economy does not know how to compete in an open economy, it only can by bulling or subsidy)

since Austrialia, New Zealand and pretty much most of the world is simular to the view of the canadians. I would expect your goverments will be put under the simular pressure as Canada is now..

What am I doing wrong when adding a plugin?
Posted by: davids1024 - 2005-05-04, 02:27 PM - Forum: Old Stuff (Legacy) - Replies (5)

I want to add the weather plug in. When I go to the plugin/configuration screen it is looking for a *.exe, I was expecting it would want a *.dll
Are there any good instructions on adding plugins?
Dave
