  gbpvrtray.exe starts twice.
Posted by: reboot - 2005-05-03, 07:21 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (3)

Somehow...the gbpvrtray.exe file is loading twice (two in the taskbar).
I only have the one in startup, which is referenced in msconfig/startup.
Where is the second one loading from?
How can I stop/remove it?

  Custom task ...
Posted by: n@boleo - 2005-05-03, 04:51 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (3)

As i'm using the MCE2 skin, I decided to use the custom task feature to add some button to my GBPVR.
Actually I created 3 shortcut :
One for restarting my computer, one for shuting it down and last one to preform a manual update for the XMLTV guide.
The last one is causing me some troubles :

Code:
Exe is : "c:\gbpvr\xmltv\xmltv.exe" Parameters are : "tv_grab_fr >c:\gbpvr\script\tv.xml"
First I discovered that the exe in not launched from his path but from
Code:
"c:\gbpvr"
I can live with it as I moved my .xmltv directory (settings) from
Code:
"c:\gbpvr\xmltv\.xmltv"
to
Code:
"c:\gbpvr\.xmltv"
Main trouble is that it seems to not be compilant with the redirect ">" and all the update process is useless as it is not saved in tv.xml and only show in command line box.

Anyone have an idea to solve this ?
Maybe solution could be adding a .bat file but it is now only allowed to add a .exe one

  A request for Normanrs' assistance
Posted by: bobmook - 2005-05-03, 02:39 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - No Replies

I had described an issue I was having but I happened to walk by a rack of Hauppauge 150's on sqale for $59.00 and magically enough two hours later my problem was solved.

As an aside, I'm so impressed w/ GB-PVR I'm dumping MCE 2005 on my main HTPC. The ability to use FFDSHOW w/ live TV AND DVD's means I can get near HDTV results w/ everything (assuming the Theater Pro 550 chip is supported)
Once that's done (hopefully this weekend) a donation will promptly follow. Excellent job Sub, just astonishing.

Question to Hauppauge about HDTV MVP
Posted by: jorm - 2005-05-03, 02:33 PM - Forum: Community Announcements - Replies (5)

Anyone find another device that supports HDTV yet? I know that gbpvr does not support anything but the media mvp but maybe we can start looking into the api's of another box.

See below for transcription.

Currently we have no products which support HDTV. New HD products are in
early stages of development with release dates at least a year from now.
There are no details available on which models will be affected or which
features will be supported.

Subject: Next Generation MVP

I am a very happy owner of 2 mvps and one of your 250MCE capture cards.
However I am starting to look at HDTV and realize that the MVP can not
support it. Have you considered or are working on the next generation MVP
that supports HDTV and mabye some additional formats (xvid, divx, mov)...
Which ever have free decoding licenses. I know there is a wireless mvp
coming out soon will that support anything new like hdtv?

Thank you for you great product.

No comunication with Recording Service and too many tuners
Posted by: Vambo - 2005-05-03, 02:11 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (11)

I installed GB-PVR about 6 weeks ago with one tuner card(PVR350), then added a second (PVR150). Most things worked ok ,I never got the PVR150s IR blaster to work but everthing else was fine. Then two days ago I started getting "No comunication with Recording Service" errors when scheduling new or manual recordings or live TV. Also the Recording Service status shows that I have got six Tuners installed not two. If I restart the Recording Service it seems to record the scheduled programs. I tried the remadies in other posts, checked all capture source settings , installed GB_PVR after dot net etc. I also remove GB_PVR, deleted gbprv folder and did a complete new install but with no improvment. I'd be greatfull if anybody can give me an pointers to a fix.

My Pictures -- how to add new ones quickly?
Posted by: Spartan - 2005-05-03, 01:23 PM - Forum: Old Stuff (Legacy) - Replies (6)

I currently have about 3 years of family still pictures on my disk and access them through "My Pictures". (I have roughly 4500 pictures to date)

My question is how to quickly add new ones.

Once I take the pics off of my camera and upload them to my server, I need to know how I can quickly get the database updated to reflect my latest ones.

If I enter the config app and tell my pictures to scan, it starts at the very beginning and takes the better part of an hour to complete the scanning.

Is there a way to tell the plugin to only scan new folders, or new files, or something similar?

skipping forward / backward while a program is recording
Posted by: Spartan - 2005-05-03, 01:19 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (2)

Last night my wife and I were watching 24 while it was recording. We started watching it about 30 minutes after the recording started.

Once a commercial came on, I hit the forward skip button a couple of times to skip past it, and suddenly I was about 20 minutes aheard in the program, and shortly after that, I was at the end of the program.

I cancelled out of the recording and restarted it and the same thing happened, so finally I just used the FF button to get me where I wanted to be.

Later on in the evening, we were watching CSI (while recording) and the same thing happened.

Is there a known issue with skipping around inside of a recording while it is still being recorded?

On playback, image on tv is too wide
Posted by: Spartan - 2005-05-03, 01:15 PM - Forum: MVP & NMT - Replies (7)

I'm not sure what I did to make this happen, but starting a couple of days ago, the recording playback on my TV (via MVP) is too wide and the image is distorted.

For example, the channel logo that normally appears on the bottom right corner of broadcasts is partially off of the screen. It effectively makes people look a little too short and fat.

The image used to be ok, but I cannot for the life of me figure out what I did to "break" this.

Any ideas?

VIA / ITX for MVP Server
Posted by: vitesse pilot - 2005-05-03, 01:13 PM - Forum: MVP & NMT - Replies (6)

Hi,

I just wanted to poll people and see if anybody was using a VIA ITX board / C3 processor for a MVP server. I want something that I can leave on 24/7 and locate in a enclosed space, therefore low-heat and low-power seem to be key here.

Is anybody using these boards for MVP ? . Are there any problems ? Which one would be recommended ( which allows a responsive / usable system ).

Thanks in advance , Vit.
