  Error: Object reference not set
Posted by: Spentfire - 2005-04-22, 01:36 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (5)

Hi:

I installed gbpvr a few days ago seemingly without a hitch. However, every time I try to watch live tv, I get the error "Object reference not set to an instance of an object".

A little bit about the system: win2k, gbpvr version 09112b, Winfast PVR 2000 with an analog cable source. I don't know what other information is important, so I won't ramble.

Please help...

Thanks.

Egg Timer for TV GUIDE (or anything else that takes time)
Posted by: sleptoor - 2005-04-21, 10:49 PM - Forum: Wishlist - Replies (3)

My big wish is for a Egg Timer type icon for when the computer is "doing something" like loading the TV Guide. It could be just about anything animated that would stop being animated if the PC hung. And during this process it would rock if you could also disable the remotes buffer. My wife in her infinite patience has, and I must admit I have on occassion also, hit the OK button serveral times thinking the remote didn't pick up the button press but then the buffer kicks in and suddenly the app enters the TV guide and opens the description window for a show then exits then enters the show again etc.. repeat depending on how much of a freak you where with the remote.

I'd love this to be a feature.....

thanks

  Diagonal tearing... Still Have It
Posted by: Don - 2005-04-21, 10:33 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (4)

With everybody's help here in the forum, I finally figured out how to change codec's but I still have a recording/playback problem. When I am recording it looks like the image is torn from the upper right to the lower left. It does not happen all the time, usually every 10 to 15 seconds it shifts for a second then goes back to normall. Any suggestions???

Thanks for all the great help and advise from all forum members and moderators

Truncated listings from xmltv in EPG
Posted by: Ant - 2005-04-21, 09:48 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (1)

Hi there,

Apologies if this has been covered before, but I have found a small problem in the EPG where the decriptions for any programs get truncated. I have checked the XMLTV file and the full description is there. Is there any way round this problem?

Also, a minor issue, some characters (such as ') show up as funny greek-like characters, e.g. ae? Is this a font issue?

Any help much appreciated, thanks for a great program!

Genre Colors and Guide Listings by Genre
Posted by: daphatty - 2005-04-21, 07:45 PM - Forum: Wishlist - No Replies

This was a suggestion from my wife (of all people). She loves how our analog cable TV Guide color codes the movies that are currently playing. Is this possible to implement in GB-PVR?

And my suggestion, Guide Listing by Genre would be great. I would only have to scroll through a few listings rather than all 70 channels just to see what sports events are playing...

  US BDA HDTV device owner?
Posted by: sub - 2005-04-21, 05:45 PM - Forum: NextPVR Announcements - Replies (69)

I'm just starting to think about ATSC HDTV support, but would need to find some US based help so that I can do the development.

I'm in New Zealand, so I dont have access to ATSC transmissions, so much like I did with DVB-T support for Europe, I'm looking for someone in US that may be able to help me out with a remote login to a box with an HDTV device.

Ideally you'll have:

  • Nice fast broadband internet connection
  • VNC or Windows 'Remote Desktop' setup
  • HDTV device with BDA drivers.
  • ...not required, but would also be helpful if you had Visual Studio.net on the machine.
If you can help out, please PM me.

"Con" TV show on Comedy Central doesn't record
Posted by: BC1 - 2005-04-21, 02:51 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (6)

GBPVR works well for recording TV shows and I have had no problems except that it will not record the TV show "Con" on comedy central. All other TV shows I've tried to record have succeeded. I've also tried different timeslots. I have not tried to manually record by entering the time/channel but it would be nice if I didn't have to. Although not a big deal I don't want this issue to creep up on other shows. I'm on release .0912b.

Also, my playback on quick moving scenes is choppy at the top of the screen (the top quarter). I notice other posts on this so I'll check those out (unless someone wants to chime in).

Here's my setup. Athlon 2900, Radeon 9200, Hauppauge 150, 512MB Ram. Chaintech MB sound. Firefly remote. System settings for playback.
