I mainly use GB-PVR to record episodes of shows. After I'm done recording, I use some software to remove the commercials from the show, and then author DVDs for permanent retention and enjoyment.
In GB-PVR, I usually use the reoccuring recording option (record all shows for this channel). This way, I don't have to scroll through the TV listings, and it handles the occasional rescheduling of a show at a different timeslot.
By doing this, I usually end up recording episodes that I already have recorded. I can quickly tell which shows I already have by running a custom created query in MS Access for my "pending recordings".
If I go in and delete the pending recording for a episode that I already have, when the EPG update happens, the shows get re-scheduled to record.
So here's my question: Is there anyway to "mark" a recording that was scheduled by the "reoccuring process" to NOT be recorded or rescheduled when the EPG process runs. Sub, like can I change the status of the row in the Recordings table in Access to something else (other than 0, 2, or 4).
Any help would be appreciated.
PS: Sub, I seriously want to commend you on the extra coding that you wrote into GB-PVR that occasionally goes out and checks to make sure that items (files) that it has already recorded, are still physically located on the hard drive. After I'm done taking the commercials out of an episode, I save the "edited" mpg to a different name, and simply delete the original file off the hard drive. The GB-PVR recording service (I assume), cleans up the Access DB and deletes those rows that it cannot physically find the file for. GREAT JOB!!!
I've tried all sorts of PVR software and GBPVR works better than any other with my Hauppage pvr-350.
GBPVR doesn't hog the mouse, runs as a background task, uses the Hauppage 350 mp2 hardware a/v output complete with a GUI. This frees up both my vga monitors. I am able to use my pc normally while my wife uses the hauppage remote and the living room tv - nice.
They say never look a gift horse in the mouth but it would be a nice touch if the following could be addressed.
Ability to play any type of video such as DiVx via 350's a/v output.
Net radio is desirable from this socket as well.
Ability to render to the VGA overlay at the same time instead of the "video is playing back using the tv out" etc message. You don't get this with wintv so I guess it's possible.
S-Vid and composite inputs sem to have been neglected.
I can't get the default recording quality to stay on low.
Ability to view or inturrupt currently recording programs when selecting live tv.
Keep up the good work, this software is the best of it's kind regardless of the above suggestions.

I've got the My Programs plugin and it's very cool. I've got four emulators running under it and they all tie into GBPVR seemlessly... with one exception...
When I run an emulator (or other program) the program only runs on the computer's monitor not the TV. I want to play these games on the tv (that's the whole point) but can't figure out how to make them go through my tv card.
I have a Hauppauge 350 and any advice would be appreciated.

I've been using GB-PVR for a couple months now and I'm generally satisfied, though it took a while to get the MPEG playback to a point where it didn't stutter consistently. It turned out I needed to use the "CyberLink Video/SP Decoder (ATI)" decoder and select the Deinterlace filter - why I don't know - but after getting the Deinterlace filter set movies and such have played back well. But now I've run into a problem.
Last week I recorded Band of Brothers off the history channel and these MPEGs are giving me trouble. They were recorded with the High setting (as are all of my recordings) and the video really stutters during scenes of high action, lots of explosions, people running amok and quick camera pans. At first I thought maybe it was just my machine having too little horse power to decode these scenes in realtime, but it's not the case since they play back fine using RealPlayer, Microsoft MediaPlayer or Nero's media player. So what do I do, and why can't GB-PVR do what these other players do?
My decoder options in GB-PVR are the following:
CyberLink Video/SP Decoder (ATI)
CyberLink Video/SP Decoder
InterVideo NonCSS Video Decoder for Hauppauge
The ATI one is the only one that gives decent playback performance (with all the other media besides Band of Brothers to date), but again, only if I chose the Deinterlace filter. One would think the filter would slow it down, but without it chosen, things really stuttered, especially in Live TV.
The machine I'm using isn't very high powered, a 1.2 GHz Celeron, but really, it seems like it should be enough. For the video's I've watched so far it's been more than adequate even with one recording going in the background and comskip running in nice mode. But I'm finding now that a high-action MPEG really seems to be beyond GB-PVR's capabilities even if nothing else is running. But other media players seem to handle them fine.
Does anyone have any suggestions? Will GB-PVR ever support decoding being done through Microsoft Media Player?
Will an option to launch an external media player ever be considered? It might not offer commercial skip integration or OSD, but it would solve my problem and also allow currently un-supported media to be handled without GB-PVR needing to recognize them.
Any thoughts?

When i switch to live tv on the mvp the last veiwed recording is being displayed for a few seconds then crashes gbpvr. I have tryed to increase the preplay delay but i still get random crashes.

BleepBloop is a GBPVR Plugin to add sound effects for when movement is done or an item is selected. It only works for a PC and does nothing for an MVP.
If you install this plugin you will gain the following:
Left, Right, Up, Down arrows will play a movement sound.
Return will play a selection sound
Home will play a Cancel sound.
Version 1.03 extends support for virtually every command controled by the Remote. See the plugin documetation on the wiki for a full list of supported keyboard events.

I had some for Mediaportal, back when i didnt care if my video was choppy <G>, and it made the whole machine feel more professional. Its a real nice touch when showing off your project to someone else.
I was wondering what people refer to their gbpvr boxes as? As in; Do you say "oh ill just record that on the ....."
When i was using mythtv, i just called it myth or mythbox, When i was using Mediaportal, i called it the pvr or MP (em pee). Now that i have switched to GBPVR, i cant figure out how to refer to the thing. GBPVR doesnt exactly roll off of the tongue, and PVR is sorta ... blah. I tried calling it "The HTPC" But that isnt much better, and annoyed my wife, who insists on calling it "the supercomputer" (which is much better than her previous moniker for it "that damn computer in the living room").
At this point i am thinking of giving it a regular name, like Stan or something.
Anyway, just wondering if anyone else out there is odd enough to think about stuff like this.
