Python3 Based IR Blaster Using IquanaWorks USB
Posted by: pkscout - 2019-09-02, 01:40 AM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (9)

I think I've mentioned this in a few posts, but I thought I'd stick it here just in case anyone ever needs a more flexible IR blasting solution to use with NextPVR.  It uses a USB IR transciever from IquanaWorks (URL on the wiki pages below).  It's worked well for me and allows me to send more than just channel numbers to my cable box and checks to see if the recording is actually working.  If it isn't, it trys to turn the cable box on again (mine has a habit of getting in the off state even though I turned off the sleep after idle function).  Additionally, it is capable of controlling up to 4 difference cable/satellite boxes (at least in theory).  And lastly, as of 2.0.0 there is an option to run this in client/server mode.  So if you really need a blaster that can be trigger from a Docker container or Mac OSX, this will work as long as you have another device (either Linux or Windows) to act as the blaster server.  In my case I used a Raspberry Pi I had laying around.

Audio out of sync in recorded TS file
Posted by: SilverTiger - 2019-09-01, 07:16 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (3)

I recently recorded a pretty long TS file (football game). The audio in the TS file itself is out of sync with the video. I can't swear that it was in sync in the broadcast as I didn't watch it while recording. This is NPVR 4.2.4 on Windows 10 1903. My understanding is that the encoding is done by my Colossus 2. The Colossus 2 is connected via HDMI for both video and audio. I've checked the TS file with VLC and with NPVR itself and see the same sync issues. The audio is AAC LC. Is there any way that NPVR could cause this, or is my Colossus 2 the culprit?

Channel Export XML file adds the string “amp” to EPG
Posted by: dt126 - 2019-09-01, 07:09 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (3)

Hello:
I’ve searched the forums on this and have not found the answer. I use a combination of Schedules Direct and XMLTV entries for the EPG. Everything works normally. However, when I export the channels, the XML has the string “amp” appended to the EPG line between the user name and password sections. Sometimes there will be 2 or 3 repetitions of “amp” and this causes issues when I try to import back in the channel list.

For example:
<source>XMLTV</source> <file>http://test.com:80/xmltv.php?username=user&password=12345</file>
Becomes:
<source>XMLTV</source> <file>http://test.com:80/xmltv.php?username=user&amp;amp;amp;password=12345</file>

Does anyone have any idea what is happening? It’s hard to search forums for a short string like “amp” as these search functions usually disregard short entries.

Thank you.

Not finding tuner, was used with Ubuntu 18.04 Tvheadend
Posted by: CDinger - 2019-09-01, 12:12 AM - Forum: Linux - Replies (4)

I have been using Tvheadend on Ubuntu 18.04. I want to keep my settings for Tvheadend and give NextPVR Linux a try. I have installed NextPVR and can access via Mozilla. However, NextPVR doesn't find my Hauppage WinTVQuadHD tuner. I believe it is locked to Tvheadend. I opened a terminal and ran sudo service tvheadend stop. This stopped the Tvheadend service but I still can't find the tuner in NextPVR.

I am a Linux rookie and any help would be appreciated.

  Sleep/Wake issue and Yahoo
Posted by: fccgrant - 2019-08-31, 10:40 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (8)

Hello, All-

I have just recently and reluctantly upgraded my PC from Windows 7 to Windows 10 Home Version 1607. My computer does not use the EPG and all Network devices are disabled. All recordings are scheduled manually.

I have been running test recordings and things seem to be recording OK. However, I have run into a problem that has been discussed on and off and that is the condition where the system will sleep and then wake up a minute later after all recordings have finished for the evening.

I have turned off Wake On options on my Network Card even though the card is disabled. But here is the strange thing...If I run Windows Resource Monitor and observe the Network section both NRecord.exe and NTray.exe are trying to reach beap.adss.yahoo.com. If I turn off the NPVR service the network activity ceases. This is verified by stopping and then restarting the Windows Resource Monitor. In this case I suspect that all requests are being sent to the loopback address but does make me curious on why.

This further makes me wonder if this Network activity could be related to why some computers wake up after a minute after going to sleep when recordings are completed.

Looking forward to the responses and thanks...Jerry

  xmltv file
Posted by: donbrew - 2019-08-31, 07:14 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (1)

When I am trying to set the EPG source to xmltv the "mapping" data is not what is in the xmltv file specified. It seems to be a combination of a couple of old xmltv files.
How can I delete this data and get the correct data? Tried uninstalling and deleting c:/program files/NPVR and C:/users/public/NPVR then reinstalling.
Tried choosing an entirely different xmltv on a different path. Rebooting in between.

  Stopped accepting recurring recordings
Posted by: RDE - 2019-08-30, 07:23 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (12)

Recently, NextPVR has lost some, but not all, of my recurring program requests. I can set a "Quick Record" or "Record" - "Record Once" for those that have been lost but not "Record" - "Record Season".

Testing other programs shows a mixed bag, most will "Record Season" though not all.

I uninstalled NextPVR and installed the current version after a re-boot but there is no difference in behaviour.

I'm running Windows 10 version 1903

  xtream-editor and v5
Posted by: greg4168 - 2019-08-30, 11:34 AM - Forum: Windows - Replies (1)

Hi - using Xtream-Editor to create an xml EPG file and finding that it isn't accepted in NextPVR v5. Looks like it was also an issue in v4 per this thread:

https://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.ph...ream-Codes

A patch for Nshared.dll was provided in the above thread but I'm having the same issue in v5. Can the same fix be made for v5?

Thanks very much

  Top level directories not deleted
Posted by: snagglewest - 2019-08-29, 01:49 PM - Forum: Linux - Replies (4)

Sub,

When deleting a recording, which is the only recording in a given directory, the .ts and the season directory are deleted correctly but the empty top level (show name) directory is not being deleted.

For example, when I deleted the recording of Yellowstone it left "mnt/recordings/Yellowstone". The full path to the recording was "mnt/recordings/Yellowstone/Season 02/Yellowstone.S02E10.Sins of the Father.ts". The log shows the delete at 2019-08-29 09:10:11.701. The attached log is clean after a reboot. The second log shows a delete for "snowfall" which did the same thing.

If it matters:

Ubuntu 18.04 server (headless VM)
Apache reverse proxy
Recording to NFS share on the NAS

On another note, what's your thoughts on adding a button in the settings to reboot the OS? It surely could be a security risk but I'm thinking maybe only from within the LAN or even just a specific IP or range. It would make it easier for those of us running a headless VM.
