Hello, I have this issue that I can watch recordings only for 5 minutes, after that picture freezes and audio continues to play. I doesn't matter which player I use It happens with all of them. I can watch the whole recording if I start the file again and jump to the place where it froze earlier. Then I can watch another 5 mins, and it does it again. Any idea what could cause this?
And by the way GB-PVR rocks! Sub should be coding this thing for Hauppuage! (or not, because then it wouldn't be free)
I have been consistantly having lockups while using the TV-Out of the PVR350. It happens either when switching to Live TV or changing channels in Live TV. After doing a bunch of research online I came across some suggestions to disable hyperthreading in the BIOS to see if this helps.
I have since tried this out and it appears to have worked. Where as before I might get 2-3 channel changes (but not more than that) and then have a lockup....I'm going on 100+ channel changes with the hyperthreading disabled. I plan on doing a lot more testing on this to see if this really is the fix I need. I would be interested to see if this fixes other people's problems that are experiencing lockups while using the PVR350 TV-Out.
How many other people using the TV-Out of the PVR350 are using it without hyperthreading enabled, or on a CPU that doesn't have hyperthreading to begin with and not having lockups?

In some additional testing, I left hyperthreading enabled and then set the affinity of the GBPVR.exe and the GBPVRTray.exe process to one CPU. I couldn't set this on the Recording service. However, when I did this on the other two processes, I could consistantly get about 30 channel changes before a lockup.
If disabling hyperthreading is the fix, I really wish there was a way to leave it enabled but have GBPVR use only one processor and see if that fixed the problem. Maybe have it as an option in the Config tool. This way the hyperthreading was available for MPEG2 editing and DVD Creation.

I'm new and want to get a HTPC up and running. I plan to connect to my Satalite set top box using s-video. What should I get in a card? Do I need a TV tuner or just a video capture card? Any suggestions or Recommendations?
My HTPC is used ONLY for GB-PVR and only to watch recorded shows and live tv.
I would like to know what codecs/decoders GB-PVR needs and is 100% compatible with. The wiki offers no help:
"Take note that installing "codec packs" that have packaged a number of filters can also interfere with the display of full screen on GB-PVR which can result in the problem noted above. Try uninstalling the "codec pack" and only
installing the codecs you need. "
So what do I need???
I'm gonna have to rebuild my PVR... After upgrading to .91.12 my audio now lags about .5 - 1 second behind the video intially, then gets further and further behind. It used to be it was perfectly in sync then gradually got further behind enough to really notice it after about 45 minutes of watching live tv when using .91.11. ...the wife acceptance factor was still in the green, but now it's totally unacceptable.

After a clean install of OS and patched it up with all critical updates from MS, i installed nForce2 System Drivers and the nForce video driver. I then installed the latest PVR150MCE drivers and apps off hauppauge's site: http://www.hauppauge.com/pages/support/s...vr150.html
I followed everything exactly, but the last thing... the "WinTV video decoder update" didn't work... the install wizard just disappeared. I installed and configured GB-PVR, when I try to view live TV, I get the message that no
suitable decoder could be found. I try to play a saved tv show (in mpeg format) and get the same error (okay, so am I missing a video codec or a decoder??) I followed someone's recommendation to install the demo version of PowerDVD to get a suitable decoder (or is it a codec?). I don't know what it is 'fixing'. Now I can play mpeg files and GB-PVR works fine and the picture looks good when watching recorded shows or live tv in timeshift mode. BUT the audio lags terribly in live tv without timeshift mode. Since no one else seems to have this issue... then my method of installation is off some where ... probably at the point where I installed that damn demo.
So anyway... which decoder/codec do i need to use after I perform another clean install?
Now that installed a new codec, how do I get GB-PVR to use it. I tried to change it in the config app but the only option is the InterVideo NonCSS codec for playback but how do I change it and the recording codec???
Tonight (at 20:46 to be precisely) I used the Config application to peek at some values. Afterwards I pressed the Cancel button to leave the application. I had a recording scheduled from 21:30 to 22:30 and at 22:08 I noticed the recording icon wasn't green. I was able to show the menu from the tray icon and even could show the recording status popup (which said the capture source was sleeping). After restarting the service (from the tray icon menu) it immediately started recording.

BTW. I'm using GB-PVR 0.91.11 on a Hauppauge PVR-150MCE.
In V91.11, the following popup appeared when playing a recording in progress and pressing stop button. GBPVR just stopped responding showing the last frame as if it was paused. I could not reproduce it, but will try.

I used to use AC3Filter for my AC3 needs, however, I could never get it's realtime encoding to work correctly. While doing some research I found out that the most recent versions of FFDshow enable realtime AC3 encoding. I don't have my A/V receiver hooked up with analog outputs, and only connect through the digital output, so it gets annoying not being able to hear my center channel when playing strereo movies and shows through the PC. So for those that want to use the realtime encoding of FFDShow Audio here is how I got it done. Reven can verify the steps for 5.1 Analog as I helped him get that working. You also will need a 2005 version of FFDShow. I have this working on an Athlon XP 2400+ with 256mb, sound blaster live, and connected to a Kenwood THX A/V receiver via COAX digital input.
For analog output of 5.1, you need the following filters enabled:
AC3
Uncompressed
The following filters need to be in this order:
Mixer
LFE
Volume
Mixer tell it to mix the channels as 3/2+LFE
LFE enable the cross over and set it to about 120
Volume enable this, and set to Normalize, and View current volume level. Good for debugging purposes.
Now if you want to go to a complete digital route, you'll need one of the most current versions of FFDShow as it includes the ability to do Real Time encoding to AC3 output.
Codecs in FFDshow need to be setup as the following:
MP3/MP2 disabled
AC3 - SPID/F
DTS - SPID/F or enable this to the default handler if your digital receiver doesn't handle DTS.
Uncompressed - all supported types
Filters in the following order:
Resample - 48000 (it is a good idea to resample to the correct AC3 Supported audio level).
Mixer - 3/2+LFE
LFE - 120
Volume - Normalize, View current volume levels
Output - set this to AC3
Now whenever an a video is played, if it has an MPEG 2 or MP3 stream, the uncompressed audio will be converted to a 3/2+LFE stream, and when OUTPUTed will be encoded to an AC3 digital stream sent out through the SPID/F digital output.
AC3Filter has similar support for realtime encoding, and doesn't produce very good results (lots of pops and hisses). The AC3 encoding seems to be pretty good for FFDShow Audio.
First I would like to thank whoever wrote all these plugins and gbpvr I got all the general features to work fine now im looking for a little customization. I want to be able to have automatic conversion to Xvid as well as commercials cut out automatically (I know its not going to be perfect but comskip does get the good majority) I understand how to use autogk as well as gk and am willing to purchase or configure other software to get this to work. My main problem is you guys keep referencing postprocessing.bat and that doesn't exist as a file on my comp I know cause I ran a search and I couldnt find it in the config menu either. I have conskip fully functioning and that works fine. Just need a little advice. I am a chemical engineering major so I dont need someone to hold my hand I just need a direction and I do have a little programming experience in C++.
