  A newbie asks...
Posted by: alex060670 - 2005-02-25, 08:37 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (6)

Hi to all PVR experts out there!

I want to get rid of my old VCR and decided to build a PVR from scratch using gbPVR. I also decided to use one Hauppauge 150 (or several 150's in future) and the Xcard for hardware-supported output to my TV set (in order to keep my CPU cool ;-)

I want to install the PVR next to my TV set in the living room so I don't want to use an extra monitor - just the TV set.

Now my questions:

1. What happens if I want to view a format the Xcard has no hardware-support for (a JPG for example or an old, not supported DivX)? Do I need to use a extra graficcard connected to the xcard?

2. I read a lot about suspend and hibernate mode. I guess it *IS* possible that the machine sleeps in hibernate mode, wakes up for recording, and goes back to hibernate mode afterwards, right? But what kind of hardware (mainboard, power supply) is necessary for that?

3. I will use pre- and post-show padding in order not to miss any parts of the recorded show. Is it possible to cut the unnecessarily recorded parts off the show for archiving the file (out of gbPVR frontend or using any other program that can be seen on TV set)?

4. Is it possible to burn things onto DVD or CD (out of gbPVR frontend or using any other program that can be seen on TV set)? What about authoring?

I would really appreciate any answers to my questions in order to not spending money or time on not working items...

Greetings, Alex

Posted by: reven - 2005-02-25, 07:29 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (4)

sub does ffdshow work with dvd playback? i enabled ffdshow in the config, set ffdshow to work with raw video (which is how i made it work with dvd playback and zoom player, its also setup to work with mpeg2), but i cant get it to work.

if it doesnt work is there any chance of this being added in the future?

cheers.

  xrecord ME style skins?
Posted by: chrisw - 2005-02-25, 06:47 AM - Forum: Developers - Replies (20)

Hi all,

Short version: Does anyone have a reasonable looking skin for xrecord which fits in with the GBPVR Media Experience skin or similar?

Long version:

Recently I upgraded (and I do mean upgraded) to revens GBPVR Media Experience and love the look (alongside the fantastic My series of plugins). (As a sidenote reven on my MVP's the skin is a bit light, I may have to rejig some font colours)

In fact I liked it so much I dropped xrecord and returned to the basic recording built in plugin so I could get a decent skin running (yes I had a quick go at skinning xrecord but quick realised I would have to spend hours to get it right)

As it turns out I can't live without the simplicity and options that xrecord has, jorm I think its great.

However with something like the blue skin and style it doesnt really fit in and brings my proud display of what is possibly one of the nicest media center experiences in existance down a peg or two.

Does anyone have a skin that makes xrecord fit in more with the GBPVRME skin (and my plugins), Does reven have plans to create a 'My Recordings' plugin, Does jorm have any plans to improve the skinning in xrecord or offer source code so we can have a play (just a suggestion), Will Ms Piggy marry Kermit...... ok ok it was the long version [Image: smile.gif]

Thanks to everyone (sub, reven, jorm, others), especially those who have the spare time the rest of us don't have to make such truely amazing systems.

Chris

  No live TV
Posted by: brewer - 2005-02-25, 01:13 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (3)

Intalled gbpvr this morning. All went well until I tried to watch live TV. I get the "Starting timeshoft mode tv" message and then nothing. If I hit the escape key, I get this message: "Failed to commuinicate with the GB-PVR recording service..." The service is running and and restarting/rebooting makes no difference. I am using a Leadtek Winfast PVR 2000 card, which works just fine with both leadtek's software and dscaler. Live preview mode is _off_.

The GBPVR.exe log has the following stack trace:

  LiveTV pasue by itself?
Posted by: haooo81 - 2005-02-25, 12:10 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (5)

LiveTV works fine.

There are recordings in the TV buffer and all is well.

However, I let the LiveTV run by itself, say overnight, strange things happen.

I woke up and find that the screen is paused and they are many chunks of recordings. But the LiveTV is still recording.

Then I move my mouse over the GBPVR window, the LiveTV will run again, but at fast forward speed. Then i press ctrl-o, it will play the latest LiveTV show normally.

Why is this happening? How can i solve this prob?

Help please.. thanks in advance

Crackling sound when watching and recording simult
Posted by: sondrup - 2005-02-24, 11:29 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (2)

First of all great software. Thanks.

I have although one frustrating error. When I playback one of my previous recordings while I'm recording a new one the sound "crackles" and becomes very bad after 5-10 minuttes. Any idea?

I'm using Hauppauge PVR 250 for recording and an Audigy Prodigy 192 soundcard.

Hauppauge IR Blaster & DirecTV Top Box Woes
Posted by: dmorley00 - 2005-02-24, 11:23 PM - Forum: General Discussion - No Replies

The title pretty much says it all.

I have a Hauppauge PVR-150 with the silver remote and IR Blaster. I have been using the remote with GB-PVR for about two weeks recording over-the-air broadcast programs. I now have DirecTV hooked up to the pvr-150, and I am trying to get it to be controlled by the IR Blaster program. The brand and model is RCA D10(you should be able to find it at any BestBuy or Circuit City). I have gone through all of the set codes to no avail. I even tried the most up to date program version with no success.

Has anyone been able to get the particular model to work with IR Blaster?? Also, I have tried moving the IR transmitter around over the set top box IR receiver spot with no success too. It's really bugging me that I can't get it to work. [Image: mad.gif]

Any help will be appreciated.
-dmorley00

EDIT: The newer version of Ir Blaster Config can be downloaded HERE. It is apparently not up on their website yet. BTW it doesn't work any different for me than the other version...no go...

No audio on one channel - tuning issue??
Posted by: mtutty - 2005-02-24, 07:35 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (5)

I've got 0.90.10 and it works fine. I can view previously-recorded stuff, live TV is very snappy, timeshift mode is great.

I've got one little problem and I don't know how to attack it.

TBS (my channel 23) has no sound. It works the same way in live TV, timeshift mode, record/playback. I can play the recorded MPEG file back in WMP and it still has no sound.

It seems like the tuner isn't getting sound, but only for one channel. How can I troubleshoot/fix this problem?
