Here's a couple of issues I've noticed when I start watching a show as it is recording (scheduled, not live). Sorry if they've been brought up but I didn't see them.
One is that the time bar that shows where you are maxes out at the length of the recording at the time I start watching. So if I start 10 minutes in I can watch 10 minutes but then lose the ability to ff/rw because it thinks I'm past the end of the show. Going back the menu and playing again refreshes the ending point.
Another weird problem I've had when doing this same thing is that sometimes the skip button decides to go not in 30 second increments but minutes at time. Sometimes it will just skip to the end no matter what when I push skip, sometimes it will do a couple of minutes each time instead of 30 seconds, and once I'm pretty sure it skipped 3 minutes, then 6.
Playing while recording is probably trickier than normal but I thought I'd bring these up.
This would be sweet if i get the stations to come in properly.
So here's the basic run down.
I am at college hooked into the colleges customized feed they get from comcast, which only includes certain channels. I have gone to zap2it.com and chose the basic comcast cable package for the area that I live in(Harrisburg, Pa). Then i have gone through that cable listing and modified the channels to only have checks by the ones that we recieve here at school.
Then I went into the GB-PVR, ran the tuning assitant and brought in all the channels to the config area where I have changed the channels to the same number channel as they are on our cable system here at school . For example, my college recieves ABC on channel 3, but from the regular comcast package which i am bringing in from zap2it, abc is listed as channel 4, but on the other hand both my school and comcast cable have cbs setup to be channel 2. Which cbs works perfectly on my pvr machine, but I am having troubles getting the actual stations to display onto my tv that are not the same channel number between the two places(such as the above example of abc). How do I step up the channels that are coming in from zap2it to correspond with the channels that i recieve here at school, or is that not the problem?
Any insight would be apperciated. Sub you are amazing, thanks for such an excellent product
ive uploaded the music panel include in the "GBPVR Media Experience" skin to the wiki so other skinners can include this in their skins (i noticed jmoger has included this in his new skin). Â Note if updated it so it now uses 2 composite images, one for playing and one for paused. Â also you can now show a few different items
<table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0"><tr><td>Code Sample </td></tr><tr><td id="CODE">@Time - The current time position of the song
@Song - The song title
@Artist - The artist
@AristSong? - The artist and the song eg "Metallica - One"
@Album - the Album.
@AlbumArt - a album image, if not found uses the default one set in the skin file. [/QUOTE]
just look in the example skin file to get the idea.
you must define a "DefaultAlbumArt" image even if you arent using the "@AlbumArt" option, it just loads the default image when it is starts.
this doesnt include a skin for the blue skin, this isnt a panel to just download and go, its really just for skinners so they can include this in their skins if they wish, they people will need to download it, i never bothered releasing it before, since i only used it in the media experience skin, but since jmoger skinned it i figured i should do a proper release and clean it up a bit.
ive updated the music panel to display info for mp3, wma, ape, and ogg. also it now displays a paused button when music is paused. ive also update it to work with the newer features of my videos.
I have a widescreen laptop and when I play LiveTV the display is widescreen with all the osd displaying properly.
If I use vmr9 or vmr7 when playing recordings the osd info will not display at all and the picture doesn't cover my whole screen. If I switch to overlay manager, I can get the osd info on my recordings but they still do not cover my whole scrfeen like LiveTV does.
Why is this and should I just use overlay manager? Does using overlay manager give me less functionality than vmr9 or vmr7? Do I maybe need a new mpeg decoder? I assume the one on my system is the one that came with my Haupagge WinTV PVR2.
Thanks.
Brian
I have some problems with the overscan settings. I have connected a standard TV on the tv-out of my vga-card and set it as primary display. The resolution is set 720x576.
I edited the symbolic link and added -pos:20,20,680,536. The image is smaller then before, but it always starts in the left upper corner. I changed the values, but it always starts in the left upper corner.
Is this behaviour normal or am I missing something?
As always if you install xrecord you do not need to install fastfind too. It is bundled together.
*Xrecord v17 2005-2-17
**updated and fixed the schedule panel.
**Updated with new fastfind
FastFind
 Fixed fastfind bug with null ptr if have manual recording
 FastFind can set default quality in the skin. Â
 Now support zapdb genere and cast searching.
In the future I am considering not releasing fastfind as a separate plugin anymore but just xrecord with fastfind bundled inside of it. Â If you dont want xrecord just dont select it. Â I seem to always release the two at the same time so it would be less work for me.
My appologies to tipstir I still havent added the skinning stuff.
I will be building a HTPC in the near future for my Hitachi  rear projector HDTV. It has DVI-D, and Hitachi tells me it really is not meant for PC in. I know most of the better cards that have DVI are DVI-I, and I think I can convert from one to the other? My questions are:
1. Is DVI the best way to go if an option?
2. I hear pattern burn is a problem with these tvs, anyone know of this?
3. Can I damage the tv by sending it a wrong signal, as in refresh rate?
Also, as I am new to this whole idea of HTPC and PVR, any input on building my system is very welcome. I know I can buy a $800 video card, but is there any reason to do so?
This system is just for internet and tv-recording/dvd, no gaming. All using the tv as monitor, no monitor on pc.
I know, how much ya wanna spend? What ever it takes to get the ideal system that isn't overkill for stated uses.
And lastly, I know there are a dozen programs like GB, most you pay for. What don't I get with GB that the others have? I downloaded it, and it looks good to me. Am I missing something?
