Hi, I just started playing around with the idea of building a PVR. I bought a PVR-150 and installed it in my current computer to play with and so far I like GBPVR for the software. I am running into one problem though after I have EPG update my channels they skip from 230 to 249. There are several channels in there that I need to record from. When I go to Zap2it and select dishnetwork and Kansas City it shows the channels. I tried to add them manually they still don't show in the guide. From reading other posts I don't think I would get the programming for them anyway. Anyone have any ideas as to what to try??

Awesome SW but it has one little problem for me.

When I schedule to record more than one show, (for example, using the season feature) it seems to only record the first episode that has been scheduled. Somehow, GB-PVR doesn't seem to update the "pending" list until reboot. Before I reboot, the first show will say "recording" in yellow even though the time has already passed. And after reboot, the missed recordings will say "never".

What am I doing wrong? Please help me to solve this issue.

BTW, here is my system:

-Windows XP
-GB-PVR 0.9? (the latest as of 2/14/05)
-Hauppauge PVR150 (and all its sw installed)
-Hauppauge MediaMVP (I don't use this to schedule recording, rather I use my PC)
-P4, 3Ghz with 1G memory
-I enter password to login to windows.
-Microsoft .net runtime v1.1 installed

I got my xcard and I also downloaded the latest gbpvr version yesterday.

The remote is not responsive. It takes about 3 or 4 seconds to do execute an action. Sometimes it buffers up all the key presses and executes all the actions at once.

Since I installed the xcard and the latest gbpvr at the same time I couldn't figure out which one is causing the problem.

I'm using 45 button remote that came with 150. I also notice the CPU hits 100% when I press the buttons on the remote.

It would be nice if there was a way that you could import shows that you have recorded from some other source into GBPVR's database. Maybe via plugin, or could I manually add them to the Database?

Mainly I have some episodes of Monarch of the Glen that I got from On-Demand and some I recorded weekly. I would like to add them to the database so I get better descriptions.... I moved them to the folder that GBPVR created for the weekly shows, and they show up there in the Videos plugin which is nice, but i want more!!!!

I was wondering. I being checking through your capture  source setting. I see under channel changer you have a changer .exe which is quite usable for me.. but I was wondering could you add  a simple capture source that just specifies a file name and location.

that way I can use it to tune to a specific file. be it locally  or remotely.

IE.  I use the channel .exe to fire up Vlc in the background to log on to a specific upd  broadcast channel   or web channel or software written file  and write it to the drive.  and the simple  capture source just opens  this defined file .

I see many uses for it

funny enough it works somewhat now if i broadcast a upd broadcast at a specific port locally ( ie  channel changer  param is  udp://@:channel  and I set the channel to equal the port setting it will play the audio. ( i think what happening is that vlc is playing hidden  so all I hear is the audio.  but if I write it to the drive with this param udp://@:channel out=#duplicate{dst=std{access=file,mux=ts,url="C:\buffer.mpg"}} .

( or transcode a websource material to a sutible format with this setting out=#transcode{vcodec=mp1v,vb=1024,scale=1,acodec=mpga,ab=192,channels=2}:duplicate{dst=std{access=file,mux=ts,url="C:\buffer.mpg"}} )

now all I would need is a simple capture source that would access this  c:\buffer.mpg file to display on gb-pvr..

if you did this I would be happy.. I could simple set up a mulitude of programs to capture and display stuff via gbpvr.

the only problem I see is that ( i not sure) but when one selects another channel  one woulds need  to force  close the exe  executed by the  channel changer plugin. because it looks like  it will stay open

I had a power outage last night. Now the MVP will be stuck at lodaing application, contacting DHCP server.
When I installed GB-PVR I went to services and stopped all the hauppauge software.
I got everythig working by restarting the hauppauge software and powering up the MVP. Then turning off the hauppauge software again.
Is this an issue of not having a DHCP server?

I have a FTA Pansat 2500A. I want to be able to use the included IR blaster that came with the PVR150. I tried using the blaster config from hauppauge but it doesnt work. It had an option for satellite/pansat but the codes they offered didnt work.

anyone have any ideas? or know anyone who has a similar setup that i can talk to =)

Is it possible to use 2 mvp units on 1 server

I finally got it working!! After many GBPVR loads/unloads, driver loads/unloads, card location swaps and anything else I could think of short of a complete system wipe and rebuild(this is our only PC) I am now able to record 2 shows at the same time with my 150’s.

What happened was that after removing the 150’s from device manager, rebooting the PC and allowing XP to redetect and install them every thing would work. The problem was that if I then rebooted the PC, for what ever reason, GBPVR would go back to only recording off of one 150. It would show 2 shows being recorded but only one was actually being saved.

What I discovered was that if I disabled one of the 150’s in device manager before I rebooted the PC and then enabled it after the PC came back up, GBPVR was able to record 2 shows at the same time.

I tested this several times and the results were always the same:

2 recordings working, both 150’s enabled, reboot the PC, 2 recordings no longer working.

2 recordings working, disable one 150, reboot the PC, enable the 150, 2 recordings still working.

Now I had to figure how to automate this so if I needed to reboot the PC it would not get broken. I wrote a script that disables the 150 on shutdown and another script that enables the 150 on startup. I use the local group policy to fire them up at startup and shutdown.

I would imagine that a full system reload would probably fix this, but that just isn’t possible at this time.

An interesting side note: I downloaded the trial of SageTV to see if it’s dual tuner support would work with my setup ( I wanted to make sure I didn’t have a hardware problem) and the funny thing is that it worked just fine without having to mess with the devices before or after reboots. Not that I would ever change from GBPVR to SageTV, Sages interface isn’t anywhere as intuitive as GBPVR and the MVP support stinks!!

Anyone out there have any ideas of what might be happening to my 150’s on a reboot that would cause them to not function correctly only in GBPVR??
