  OSD Quality
Posted by: nox71 - 2005-02-07, 04:58 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (1)

I would like to know if with the Xcard the OSD should be of goog quality because mine is completely ugly and more ugly in the Tv Guide with the text. I activate the option in the config for better output but it take too long to redraw the OSD and it still very ugly.

Maybe it's a skin issue so if it's the problem wich skin should i use ?

  Video Archive problem
Posted by: GET - 2005-02-07, 02:56 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (2)

I am trying to use Video Archive and X record plugins in GBPVR. I can see the video Archive plugin in the Configuration and change settings but I can't get it to show on the main menu. I gave up on X record It won't show even in the config.

Thanks for any help!

WinTV 2000 vs GBPVR - confused
Posted by: tdob - 2005-02-07, 02:33 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (1)

Hey,

I love GBPVR. But there is one thing that confuses me.

In WinTV 2000 when viewing live TV the response rate is excellent, meaning when I change channels WinTV2000 changes almost instantly. However when I change channels in GBPVR there is a 3-5 second delay.

As a result I have been using WinTV for live TV and GBPVR for scheduling recordings. I would love to use GBPVR for both.

I have a Happaupage PVR-250. And I have tried messing around with different encoders/decoders to no avail, is this just because GBPVR is a more complex package, or should I be able to get it working just as fast? Suggestions?

Update EPG without using GBPVR's EPG updater?
Posted by: Josan - 2005-02-07, 09:11 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (1)

Hi,

Is it possible to update the EPG without using GBPVR's own EPG updater?
I want to use/create a script that grabs the tvguide info from a website and immediately imports it into GBPVR on a time it suits me. My pc is not always on, and I can't really predict a time it will be on every day.

  Live Preview Mode
Posted by: ydekmekji - 2005-02-07, 07:37 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - No Replies

On Saturday, the system allowed me to pause, rewind, etc (on LIVE TV)... But then on Sunday, the system seemed to have defaulted not to be in Live Preview Mode. I can then switch to Live Preview mode, but the side-effect of that is then the channel changing is a little slower (from instantaneous to about 2 seconds)

  Sports and PVRs

I sat to watch the superbowl with my friends, and they were thoroughly impressed with GBPVR--however, they felt that the video (though clearer) was a little choppy during fast action plays. In other words, they wanted to watch it on regular TV. (I'm running the computer to my TV)

is this unique to GBPVR or are PVR s in general not very hot when it comes to fast action??

  XCard Items
Posted by: bucknljake - 2005-02-07, 04:43 AM - Forum: Wishlist - No Replies

1: faster menu processing (xcard output). just moving around in the epg shouldn't have to lag and spike the cpu as bad as it does.

2: overscan adjustment on the video/tv output of the xcard (not just the gui)

3: badly overscanned friendly skin for the XCard. since the gui overscan compensation in gbpvr causes the fonts and other things in the skin to become almost unreadable. a skin (including epg) with lots of empty border space around the outside would be nice for all the xcard users (and most likely the 350 people too) that way we could leave the overscan boarders to be 0,0,0,0

4: a purely 256 color skin, OR a way to show the gui directly in 256 colors, instead of trying to downconvert gui images and other things. The new feature in .9 is nice but I can only imagine the amount of processing power needed to run it efficiently. I don't like the lag time without the "use best color" thing turned on.

5: as many config/setup options availible through the gui as possible (through the main menu maybe?) and the possibility to auto restart gbpvr if needed.

I've got a 1Ghz athlon (non xp) / 512 ddr ram @ 266 / radeon 9000 / XCard / pvr-150 / and 120gig 7200rpm drive

TVedia (formerly jove player) has great gui capabilities through the xcard. basic, but nice looking icons and background image(s), and the button reaction time is great (like scrolling through the epg). there has to be a way to improve the gui output piping through the xcard. I can do my best to find out how they do it if you'd like me to sub.

this app also has the #2 capability. actually the gui doesn't even adjust at all. just the main video/tv output. you can also adjust the aspect ratio output of a video playing on the fly (which is also a nice feature)

I know there aren't a ton of xcard people out there, so I know your focus isn't that strong on this card. BUT if there is ANYTHING I can do to help these things come along... please let me know- testing / research / etc. I am also a professional software developer, so I would hope I could be of some use.

thanks

How do I move through a video file quickly?
Posted by: wfooshee - 2005-02-07, 02:57 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (4)

Looking around and playing with the remote, I don't see any way to move the current time pointer around during playback of a recording, other than the skip buttons, which is not good enough if I want to move 3-quarters of the way into a 3-hour recording. Is there a way to grab the time pointer, kind of like what you can do in WinDVD or Media Player? Or can you use the remote to key in a time target like you would on a DVD player? This would primarily apply to playing through the MVP, as I almost never use the PC interface for playback.
