all of a sudden my TV Guide has stopped displaying anything. The search guide still works fine, so gbvr must be reading the XMLTV file, any ideas why the TV Guide is blank ?

Is there a way to configure "use short skip for FF/RW" to be something other than 10 seconds? I want to make it shorter.

This is another request that may already be in GBPVR but I thought I would ask (mine is recording right now so I do not want to get into the configuration and mess around because of the auto-reset on exit...which I saw someone else request a yes/no for and agree with that).

Is it possible (or could it be made possible) to have GBPVR read (and I supposed write to) mulitple paths?

Of course it would be great if it could measure available harddrive space and make decisions based on that about when to toggle from one place to another, but that may be a little much to ask. What I am getting at would be more of a dual-read kind of thing.

Currently my set-up includes a laptop which is nice and quiet in the livingroom and looks inconspicious with the lid down) but which has a sadly small harddrive. What I have been doing so far is to cut and paste the files GBPVR makes to another computer on a sluggish 802.11b wireless connection (I dump out files all the time it seems) and have to use other means to view the files (since GBPRV does not remember or reimport them I think?) (paste back the ones I want and play them with a different player, etc...) (to tell you the truth like most tivo people I talk to I record more than I think I will ever actually be able to watch).

I am considering adding an external harddrive enclosure and pulling out the 200 gig harddrive I am 802.1b-ing to and using that in the enclosure, but it occurs to me that even that will be finite as regards the GBPVR software itself, in that, being external, if I later decided to add another external and another 200 gig drive, it will become "E:" and sort of be "one or the other" instead of both as regards GBPVR.

(I realize my set-up is not optimal. I am really just looking at easy options right now.) I have been considering upgrading my wireless stuff to 802.11g and maybe mapping a big drive and having GBPVR use that...not sure how stabled/realistic that would be (but I could just append RAIDs in that case I think) ....just considering options.

Can someone explain to me how/when the weather info is updated? It seems as though I only get the weather information updated when I exit out and restart GBPVR.

This might already be a setting and I have not found it yet (being a gbpvr newbie) so if so I apologize in advance.

I notice that in the "Ready" recordings I see the name of the show and the date that it was recorded but I do not see the title or description unless I click a recording individually. I believe that it would be easier if these two things were switched in their placing, for if I could see the title in the list I could more quickly delete duplicates and so long as they are in chronological order I seldom care when exactly something was recorded (at least enough to need to see it at a glance).

Of course the "no repeats" option which I saw requested would negate a large part of this (wherein GBPVR could, optionally of course since many shows may have the same or no description for all episodes, examine the title and/or description line and compare it against available recordings...or maybe better an editable log of all recordings to date in case anyone watches or archives and deletes, and then does not record duplicates).

BTW, GBPVR shredds even without any minor suggestion I may make. I can understand the desire for someone like sub to want to write and share such a thing, but to open up forums for people to whine and complain about said (free) thing is something that I personally do not have in me.

What I want to see is something like the 'my music' plugin, but a function (both on the remote and/or on the side in an icon) that allows you to play the entire album. Right now, you can only play a song at a time.

The music plugin that comes with gbpvr is what i use, but it'd be nice to see what song is actually playing (which is what 'my music' allows). So i guess i want the best of both worlds.

I have recently discovered gbpvr and I am blown away by the quality of this software. However, when watching live tv I notice about a 10 second delay when changing channels/live tv image. My card is the hauppauge pvr-250 and I know there is a little bit of live tv delay expected with the pvr-250, but the delay in win tv and sage tv is only about 1.5 to 2 seconds. Is there anything I can do to improve this??? I installed all the hauppauge drivers before I installed gbpvr, should I try a different mpeg-2 decoder??? Thanks in advance. Captainhog

System specs: Nforce2 chipset/athlon-xp barton core 2800+/ati 9600se/512ram/60g & 80g western digital hd/hauppauge pvr-250.

Every channel that I can view with my television or with WinTV is coming in perfectly to GB-PVR except for one. Channel 19 is nothing but static. If i use the "tuning assistant" it's static there as well.

Where is the configuration for the channels stored? Is there any way I can look at this manually to maybe figure out what's wrong?

Like i said, the channel is perfectly clear if i use WinTV or another TV app. I've tried to re-import all the channels from Zap2It with no effect. It just refuses to tune channel 19 (USA network).

Any help?

I just started using GBPVR earlier this week and after a lot of reading and tweaking, it seems to be running relatively well, but I have a couple of issues that I can't seem to get around.

My system is as follows:

Asus Pundit-R Case
Radeon 9100 video (On-board)
Celeron 2.4
768 MB Ram
WD 200GB
Hauppauge PVR-250
Silver Hauppauge Remote

I am having isses when trying to start GBPVR in VMR9 or VMR7. It says that the system does not support it. It only works in Overlay mode.
After reading some posts, it appears that others are running in VMR mode on a Pundit system. Any ideas?

Also, while running in Overlay mode (in version 0.90) I am getting a hatching/hazy video when the mouse moves or I get the menu displayed over the video.

I have had an issue with plugins not showing up/menus different between the PC and MVP.  I could setup/configure the plugins in the config, open the PC window and see what I expected from the config, but on the MVP all I would generally see is the stock apps/menus.  Last night even the skin was wrong, blue in the config and on the pc but red on the MVP.  I finally figured out the following and is consistent every time:

1)  Go into config and set plugins/menus up. Set autostart servers to 1 for the MVP.  PC correct but MVP doesn't match menus, plugins, or skins.  The config/config.xml shows that the skin should be blue but the MVP is using the red skin.  I have tweaked the 4 settings in config.xml to center the MVP screen on my TV and that part works correctly.  Since I only have 1 currently running putting the settings in the general or changing the MAC address area seems to work.

2) Set autostart to 0 and manually start the MVP server from the GBPVR program group in windows.  The plugins/menus/skins are correct every time on the PC and MVP but the MVP screen is not centered on the TV anymore.  I have tried adjusting the settings in config.xml in both general and MAC specific areas but the background/menus do not move.  Another anomaly is the number between the MVP autostart tags does not change/match what is in the config.exe.  It seems to function correctly though, if I change it to 0 in the config the MVP won't load without manually starting the GBPVR MVP server.  If I change it to 1 in the config the MVP loads.  The tags in the autostart section always seem to be a 1 which is strange.  Manually changing the number between the config.xml tags does not seem to have an effect.  If I set the config to 0 and start the MVP server manually, the videos play full screen and looks correct.  It's just the MVP menus/background that is left and low with black border right and above.

Does the config read/write the config.xml file?  Where do the menu changes get written to (I have setup submenus in the config so I don't have to scroll on the screen and don't see anything even close in the config.xml yet they show up on the PC everytime)?  It's almost like it's reading 1 config.xml but writing another.  There is only one installation and I checked my search paths but didn't find anything.  I have tried doing a fresh install (Add/Remove programs from Control panel, delete directory, reboot, and reinstall).  Is there something else I should be deleting (registry?) or deregistering to start fresh?  This was driving me nuts but I think I'm getting closer since I can recreate the issues.

My next throught was to just move on to 0908 but I'm having errors starting up the config (a debug error screen pops up with 3 buttons: detail, continue, quit).  Whe I click continue there are no options in any of the drop down boxes even though the files exist (no skins yet the 3 stock ones are definately there).  The following error is in a log file:
