Forgive me for my ignorance, I am just a poor schlub trying to learn his way...

I was reading about using the Hauppauge remote with SageTV, where you could edit the remote.ini file so that it sent windows message commands instead of just normal keystroke information, thereby allowing you to use the remote even when the program wasn't in "focus". I was wondering if anyone has tried to do this with GBPVR?

At the risk of being repetitively redundant over and over again…

I am reposting this question as a new topic, because I originally asked it in a now long buried topic on net radio that no one is interested in.

I have just recently installed GBPVR, I have a Hauppauge PVR-150 card.  

Everything seems to work fine with the software/hardware.  Most recently, I have decided to use two soundcards in my system, because I am sending audio and video through wireless to my TV in another room.  I wanted to have the sound output of a second sound card, so that if someone else is using the computer at the same time, they will not hear the sound of the PVR, nor will the computer sounds go through the TV speaker.

This set up DOES work, when watching live or recorded TV through GBPVR, however, it DOES NOT work on the net radio plugin.  Even though the default sound render is set to card #2, when I try to listen to net radio stations, it always plays them through card #1 (the system default card).

I don't see a place to change this in the conflig program.  Am I missing something?

BTW:  I have only had this hardware/software for a few days, so I don't want to sound like I am complaining here, so far I think that it is a nice piece of work, and I appreciate all of the effort that has gone/is going into it.

also when i go to bring up live tv it says no capture device available??? any ideas?

When I see Live TV, is gb-pvr using a timeshift buffer all the time, or only after I paused once?

The reason I'm asking is that the video stream is filtered a bit different when it goes directly from the capture card to display compared from file to display.

Hi i just installed a WinTV PVR 150. When i try to watch something from the guide or select live tv i get an error message to the effect that gbpvrrecordingservice.exe or something like that cant be found it pops up a c++ error i know its in line 52 of the cpp file listed. Sorry for the bad explanation of the error im not in front of the system currently if no one knows what im talking about ill post the exact message once i get off work

..is there a way to get rid of this.


Can't belive how easy this app was to install, keep up the great work guys.

Keeping a lookout on future improvement, I belive this one among others, is going to be a winner.

Any Idea that this would come a reallity in the future, a search tool by titles or keywords.

...I'm next to nothing from moving off of MCE 2005 and switch to GB-PVR

and if I can add another to the wishlist would be support for the MCE 2005 Blaster (to change channels on my sat box).

I do, however, have some suggestions.

1) it would be nice to have the guide be able to scroll left/right and up/down a page at a time.

2) It would be nice if the guide had a drop down box with the dates that were stored therein, so that selecting a date would jump to that day's programing

3) it would be nice if the things that can be played areas had page up/down ability.

4) it would be nice to be able to have multiple speeds of FW/RW, the speed level changing with each press of the FF/RW button. 3x, 15X, 60X and 300X can be acheived by skipping from P frame to P frame for 3x, from I frame to I frame for 15X, skipping every 4th I frame for 60X, and every 20th I frame for 300X

5) It would be nice if GBPVR would be launched by pressing a button on the remote.

6) It would be nice if the buttons on the 150 remote that say TV, Guide, Videos, Music jumped to those sections of GBPVR. This could probably be done by supplying definitions in the irremote.ini file, but I don't know how to do that.

I hope these are merely small tweaks on a wonderful product.

People, including myself, have previously asked how to control the video parameters, e.g., brightness, contrast, color, etc.  I have found that I can control the video parameters by using not only the picture controls for my graphics card, which affects the whole desktop disply, but also using the picture controls that are used by the codec that is rendering the output video.  In my case I am using the PowerDVD codec, and when I adjust the picture settings in PowerDVD and store them, they affect the playback in GBPVR.  I beleive, that if you use the Intervideo codec that came with Win2000, that the video controls there (under MPEG settings) will be picked up by the codec when used in GBPVR) Of course, you can also adjust the parameters of your display.  Together, you should be able to construct a pleasig display.  Keep in mind that different channels, and even different shows, seem to have different inherent levels of brightness and color, so a setting for one channel or show may not be as good for another.
Sub has also indicated that there are values in direct.ini which can be used to adjust the display but I believe it was previously posted that changing those settings will change what is recorded as well, while changing the other places I mentioned won't.

Will this card work with GBPvr? rather than the PVR 2000 card?
