  Supported hardware
Posted by: AreYouWireless - 2005-01-25, 05:03 PM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (2)

Folks,
Sorry to bother you, but I was wondering if someone could tell me if GBPVR supports either the LifeView OEM card (GOOG-PC) or the Pinnacle PCTV Pro TV tuner/adapter. I have a very fast machine (Athlon XP 3200+ (400Mhz frontside bus)) , 1GB Ram, 120GB Serial ATA drive). So I don't think this is a speed issue

To date using the provided software from either company provides less then desirable resuls as I'm trying to capture DVD quality (6Mbs at least) from live TV or S-Video inputs. I continue to either get pixelated or grainy captures. Any help would be greatly appreciated

  Shutting Down MVP
Posted by: WJC - 2005-01-25, 02:40 PM - Forum: Wishlist - Replies (7)

I previously used a different DVR and was in the habit of just turning the thing off when I was done.  When I do this with the MediaMVP while in Live TV mode the program appears to shut down since the MediaMVP is turned off.  However on the computer the small icon at the bottom of the screen continues to show the green record icon.  If I then turn the MVP back on it goes directly to the Live TV screen but there is no image.  All else works fine including going in and out of the menu system.  Still when I go back to live TV mode no picture appears.

The only way to recover from this seems to be to go to the computer and close down the server.  Once the server restarts all works fine.  Possibly when the MVP shuts down the program could recognize that and shut down the live TV session as well so that when you go back in it would just restart from scratch.

A second thing on the wishlist, which is related, would be to be able to view a recording in progress after it begins.  Currently when something is recording and you go to the live TV it gives the message that there is no tuner available.  On the standalone DVR I used before, going to Live TV would automatically take you to the channel which is currently recording and display the recording in progress.  If you then try to change the channel a screen would pop up giving you the option to stop the recording and change the channel or  to just return watching the recording in progress.

Another related issue here is if you are watching live TV and a prescheduled recording starts, the live TV screen freezes.  You can back out to the Main menu fine.  If the program would automatically switch to viewing the program being recorded instead of just stopping, I believe that would be an impovement rather than having to back out of live TV, going to Recordings, and then playing the recording in progress.  Once the recording in progress finished the program could either revert back to live TV at the channel where it stopped or go on to the next recorded program if one is scheduled.....

A problem area found is that when watching the program which is being recorded, at the end of the recording I closed out and went back to the main menu. I then went to the live TV menu item. The program went into the feature but did not play the sound or video but just maintained a blank screen. I behaved just as described above when I shut the MVP down without backing out of the live TV menu first. I rebooted the computer and all came back just fine. I could have possibly just stopped the server and restarted it as that has resolved such lockup problems in the past.

  my pictures,videos,music skinning improvements
Posted by: reven - 2005-01-25, 02:30 PM - Forum: Community Announcements - Replies (9)

ive added a few skinning improvements to the "my" series of plugins. you can now have different fonts, alignments for selected menu button and selected files. you can now have a different image for a selected file when the filelist is not in focus (ie when the menu is selected). also ive changed the "my pictures" selectors to use composite images so it now matches "my videos"/"my music". theres are the only changes i made to the plugins, so theres no extra features or anything. and the default blue skin doesnt use any of these new features neither does the media experience skin (which i have also updated to support the changes, even thou it doesnt take advantage of them).

any questions, suggestions, or if you want me to add something else to the skins let me know. im aware that the color bars for the "my dvd" section in my videos isnt configurable, i had a few issues with this, but its on my todo list.

my videos: #1.2.1852.4956
my music: #1.1.1852.4992
my pictures: #1.0.1852.3346

  Configuration Settings
Posted by: WJC - 2005-01-25, 02:26 PM - Forum: Wishlist - No Replies

I have the Media MVP and Hauppague 150MCE.  I have been unhappy with the inability to set the output of the MediaMVP to adjust Saturation and Brightness.  While roaming around in GB-PVR I found the direct.ini file in the main directory for the program.  There I was able to make these settings which makes the program stream the TV in play mode look great.  Changing the brightness setting from Auto to 75 did the trick.

It would be nice if these settings could be changed in the Configuration program for GB-PVR without having to directly edit the ini file or even better if they cound be changed live while watching Live TV with the MPV remote so that you could see the effect as changes are made.

Aspect Ratio control using ffdshow & black screen
Posted by: netsucker - 2005-01-25, 12:56 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (3)

Hi,
I recently started using gb-pvr and i'm quit statisfied.
However i've noticed the standard resizing to 4:3 and read that ffdshow can resolve this.
But i'm getting problems using the recent versions of ffdshow resulting in a black screen in gb-pvr (both windowed & non windowed, switching from ie. vmr9 to overlay does not make any difference).

So i've tested a few versions and found out that :
- The latest version that works is: ffdshow-20030523.exe

Anything after that results in a black screen
At least i presume, versions tested:
ffdshow-20020617.exe
ffdshow-20030103.exe
ffdshow-20030523.exe
<-- OK Till here
--> Black Screen from here
ffdshow-20040828.exe
ffdshow-20040725.exe
ffdshow-20041012.exe

Does anybody else experience this problem or better still know how to resolve this? (I've seen more posts about this but can not really tell if they use ffdshow or not).

My Config:
- PVR 150 non mce, Radeon9800 Pro, Win XP SP2, Latest GB-PVR, Using Interaudio Video Decoder (Not the nonCSS version but the other one)

  Corrupt MPEG Recording
Posted by: dlincourt - 2005-01-25, 11:48 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (6)

Hello everyone - I am new to this and need some help. I searched around the various posts to no avail. I have a Hauppauge WinTV-PVR USB2 and I am running version 2313 of GB-PVR. I noticed after some experiementation that I need to start WinTV to sort of wakeup things before I can get a proper recording. In other words, if I re-bout my W2K machine and a recording is made, the resulting mpeg is corrupt.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

GBPVR and PVR-150 in the Netherlands?!
Posted by: MKenPK - 2005-01-25, 11:20 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (11)

Hi,

Are there any users here using GBPVR with an Hauppauge PVR 150 card here living in the Netherlands?

I still have problems with setting up the channels in GBPVR.
Using the tuning assistant gives an Connectpinns error.
I tried several solutions i found here in the Forum but none of them works. (changing direct.ini or conerting channel-setup in registry).
Maybe some other dutch users found a good working solution?

Many thx in advance

Hi, I posted this on the support group but it's probably better here:

Hi,

I have a PVR 150MCE. Unfortunately I cannot get the card to work with any software except WinTV2000. Yep, I've tried all the drivers and reinstalled the PC etc. just get a black and white, flickery picture with bad lipsync. Picture is fine in WinTV2000 - strange eh!

So, my question is: Instead of GBPVR doing its thing when its time to start a recording, is it possible that it can trigger an executable instead? My execuatable will fire up WinTV2000 in no decode mode and start recording.

Thank you,

Regards,

Steve

  List of Music Library files
Posted by: stdim - 2005-01-25, 09:56 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (2)

Hello,
After a lot of search I have no idea of where to post my problem,
so forgive me if it is in the wrong place....

I tried to use "Music Library" and seams that does not display correctly Greek characters in filenames ( I mean the filename of the mp3 files is in ISO-8859-7 set)

I must note that
- I use Windows XP
- installed GBPVR v23.13
- windows explorer shows greek characters fine...
- in Music Library
* if the filename has extention mp3 does not pop up right
* BUT if the filename has extention .wav IS OK ....

Thanks for any help,

Support for other image type other than iso?
Posted by: AerisWind - 2005-01-25, 09:37 AM - Forum: Wishlist - Replies (3)

I have couples of movies in cue, mds and nrf file, and daemon tool actually do support them. But currently, besides iso file, all the other files cannot be found using the MyVideo plugin, so I wonder, is it possible to make those file workable in GB-PVR too?
