Hello. First time pvr user here. Thought a free pvr program would be the best way to start....

I have a 2.5 ghz Celeron D on some generic ATI-based Soyo mobo, with 512 mb ram and 200 gb ata-100 hd. I cannot for the life of me get the gb-pvr program up and running. I've installed the .net program, the pvr-150 drivers, and my usb-uirt device before downloading and installing the gb-pvr program.

First of all, the EPG update program doesn't download anything from zap2(whatever)'s servers. (I've let it run for at least 30 mins. multiple times without much change at all.) I have digital cable from Comcast with a lot of crap channels, does that make it load longer than expected?

Second, I have a digital cable box I need to control (e.g. change channels with the USB-UIRT device I purchased). However, I have no clue what settings I must tweak to get it up and running. I see some of the settings in the configuration panels but nothing seems to get any positive response from my cable box.

Third, the quick start guide is helpful but I wish someone would explain (document) the additional steps beyond updating the EPG. Heck if someone breaks it down for me in some decent steps, I can write one for gb-pvr.

Anyway, great job on the application overall. The program looks great and the interface is nice and clean. I just wish I had some more guidance (tutorials) before having to come to the forums for support.

Does anyone know if GB PVR can play DVD's/Record DVD's(with a burner) or if their is any way to do it?

Also, How Much Programing can you put on a 200GB HD?

I know you cant play DVD from GBPVR on a HP 350 card (DVD menu wont appear), but i have installed the DVD RIPPER plagin with DVD Decrypter as needed, this seems to work on pulling a DVD to the hard drive from GBPVR.

I have a VIDEO link set up so i can see the DVD on the hard drive and comes up with "FOLDERNAME.DVD" but i cant play the contents... how is this possible??

I'm still in the process of setting up GBPVR for the first time - what a great application!

I'm trying to figure out how I can configure GBPVR with my WinTV USB2 so that I can set up a recording program from the SVHS input.

This is what I have done so far:
I have set up two capture sources - one is the WinTV's internal tuner (channels 1-125), the second is the unit's SVHS input connected to an external source.  On the SVHS capture source, I added one channel (channel 1).

When I go to LIVE TV, I can tune to the  SVHS input by pressing Channel Down (Channel 3 -> Channel 2 -> SVHS input).  This is exactly how I would expect it to work.

However, when I go to RECORDING and attempt to set up a manual record, I cannot find the SVHS input as the channel for the recording (Channel 2 is as low as it will go).

I assume I am doing something wrong, but I cannot figure out what it is.  I have checked the wiki and the forums, but found nothing on this problem.

Any thoughts/suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

I used the XMM for a while half a year ago or so, but wasn't extremely satisfied, instead I developed my own light weighted movie database. However, XMM has a few features that's not simple for me to implement so I decided to give it a new shot tonight.

My concern is how this Movie Management tool can work together with any of the Vide plugins that's around for GB-PVR. I know that there's plugins for meedio, but I have now decided to stick with GB-PVR.

So, Sub, would it be possible to add features on your application so it updates the XMM database instead of GBPVR's own?

So, "MyVideos" and XRecordings for example, will you consider to interact with the XMM database or as a complimentary instead of upcoming I'm not talking imports/exports here but real interaction software-2-software.

Are there any other users who use othe Movie Managers except from the ones bunled in GBPVR and plugins?

This might seem odd but I have a few reasons for wanting to do this (ease and $. How would I go about setting up GBPVR so that I can place a DVD in my DVD drive attached to another computer in the house?

I have tried sharing the DVD drive on the other computer with Win XP pro. I then mapped the drive on the GBPVR computer. In the DVD plugin I pointed to the mapped drive. However when I tried testing it with Finding Nemo the GBPVR computer hung with a black screen.

I could try it with just data DVD's with recorded mpg files and see if that works.  I've started recording quite a few shows and want to archive some of them on DVD's. I don't want to go to the garage to place the DVD in the drive(I don't even have a DVD drive on it at the moment). I also don't want to upload them to the GBPVR computer from the remote PVR. The 3.4 gig files and movies take ~15 minutes to upload/download.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I've just bought an MVP and it's working great for me apart from one problem, almost all of the video I have is avi rather than mpg. I can re-encode it into the right format but that takes forever on my machine.

Is there some way I can get it to play avis?

If the closed captioning option is disabled in config but is otherwise setup correctly, is the CC information still recorded along with the file? Thanks!
