EPG troubles
Posted by: anxietyclown - 2005-01-08, 09:30 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (3)

Okay, I am getting there slowly but surely. Now my issue is the EPG.

I set up my ZapIt account for DirectTV Los Angeles (where I live). I spent forever DLing and processing the list. But when I look at the guide, it doesn't show me all the chanels available (like KCBS 2 and Fox 11, though it shows ABC 7). Any thoughts on this? My ZapIt lineup lists these channels but the EPG either doesn't.

 Channels messed up
Posted by: tmk - 2005-01-08, 09:17 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (2)

I am new to GBPVR just having installed MVP a few days ago (so please bear with me, if my questions are silly), running a PVR350 on the server. First of all: Congratulations to the folks who have developed GBPVR [Image: biggrin.gif]. IMHO the concept and the implementation is far superior to the software delivered by Hauppauge.

So far, about everything works fine. At the moment I encounter the problem that it seems that my channels are somehow messed up. I ran the TuningAssistent and edited the file channels.xml entering the channel ids. Then I updated my EPG with XMLTV. Now I realized that, when recording, for instance a specific program a different channels is recorded. I am quite sure that the channels are entered correctly in channels.xml.

On the Wiki I read something about editing the registry. I am a bit puzzled now. Is it sufficient to edit channels.xml, appropriately?
Did I miss something? Do I have to edit the registry?

Any help would be highly appreciated.

Regards,
tmk

 video decoders not showing
Posted by: potatoman - 2005-01-08, 08:37 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (13)

i've had gb-pvr livetv working on another machine previously using stinky's mpeg2 codec.

on this machine, i could not get it to work, checked available codecs, and only cyberlink codec available. This was after installing stinky's.

i uninstalled and reinstalled stinky's, and also tried a different codec. still, only the cyberlink would show. (and this one does not work)

i've tried uninstalling powerdvd, which removes the cyberlink codec, and so no codecs show. I've tried reinstalling stinky's after that with no progress.

no matter what i seem to do livetv is blank black screen and the cache file does begin to load, but after about 400 mb it stops. livetv doesn't seem to repond to any keypresses once it begins.

 (yet another) Newb install ?
Posted by: anxietyclown - 2005-01-08, 07:11 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (5)

Hey there. Just installed my HP150MCE on an XP 1.6 duron system.

I have my capture set as follows: cap dev #1, fixed channel, external tuner, cable, constant channel 4 (the output channel of the direct TV box) - using the direct recording plug in.

When i go to LIVE - TV I get nothing for about 15 seconds then I get audio but a black screen. I am on VMR9 but have tried 7 and overlay with no luck either. Often when i go to live tv it just locks up and i have to CTRL-ALT-DEL out of it.

When I run the Tuning Assistant and it gets to channel 4, I see my TV feed plain as day so I know the signal is getting in.

Any help is most appreciated.

MVP/GB-PVR failure when making network connection
Posted by: yankees - 2005-01-08, 07:04 PM - Forum: MVP & NMT - Replies (1)

Hi Guys,

Has anyone had the problem below, or could they shed any light on it?

I'm using the MediaMVP here

When I use the music function (both music library and music albums), it works fine for any media located on my local machine, but as soon as it attempts to play anything located on a network share (via wireless), the MVP goes into "connecting servers" for a while then (eventually) boots back and comes back with the meda listing but not playing.

The logs display the following

 Category information

Anyone know if zap2it provides category information with it's program listings? I looked in the .mdb under programme and did not see this info but wasn't sure if it's not provided.

I ask because I am thinking about how to possibly build a Categories plug-in. It would be nice to be able to say select "Sci-Fi" and see the upcoming shows in this genre etc...

 MediaMVP Questions
Posted by: Ericwiz - 2005-01-08, 04:56 PM - Forum: MVP & NMT - Replies (4)

First off, I'm a new user to GB-PVR and I'd like to say great job! sub, this is an excellent program.

I just have a couple of questions regarding the MVP interface. First off, on the guide the bottom gets cut off on my TV screen. This is the program description part. I can see all of the channel listings. Is there any way to rescale the screen in the guide? LiveTV is the right size and is not effected.

Secondly, controlling with the remote. I have noticed that not all funtions work with the remote. I assume this is due to the MVP more than the interface but... Specifically I can't change the channel while watching livetv. I need to go to the guide and select a channel. This is both with chan +/- and the number buttons. (I guess I should mention that I am using the Hauppauge 'silver' remote with a pvr-150) Is this true for everyone?

Any help or info is appreciated!

 EPG, Channel numbers, and telewest
Posted by: darrenferguson - 2005-01-08, 03:54 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (2)

Hi,

Great piece of software and i'm nearly there however....

I set up Bleb and downloaded all of the channel xmls.

In the recording sources tab of the config app, i changed all the EPG source channel numbers to those of telewest and did the same in the Channels tab of the config app.

now, when i view the channel guide (via mvp on my tv), the channels appear, but no listing data....

Prior to changing channel numbers all info was displaying fine...

Am I missing something??

PS, if anyone needs a channel changer for telewest and redrat 3 i wrote a script that wraps the CLI tool.

Thanks!
Darren

 Trouble with 2 tuners
Posted by: ken228 - 2005-01-08, 03:14 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (3)

I've just started using GBPVR and it worked great with the PVR-150 I had installed. I had an X Card in my stack of junk parts and it worked great with GB-PVR. If I could use multiple tuners it was time to build my GB-PVR PC.

The problem came when I added a second tuner (PVR-USB2).
I installed the drivers and created another capture device with GB-PVR config. GBPVR seems to be happy with the configuration, but -

When I select only one device everything is fine (live TV or begin a single recording) if I select a second capture device like recording two shows at once. One of two things will happen.
1) Device 2 begins recording, Device 1 remains sleeping, both recordings are colored red in the guide.
2) The program crashes giving a C++ error
program gbpvrrecordingservice, file dbgdel.cpp line 52
expression: _BLOCK_TYPE_ISVALID(pHead->nBlockUse)

Ive tried switching the capture devices around, and both devices work perfectly by themselves with GB-PVR. The problem only occurs when both capture devices are used at the same time.

I'm using winXP Pro service pack 2 with the .Net framework installed

Any ideas?

Thank you!
