i have digital cable from cox communications. The cable goes in to the tuner(cable box) and I use the S video out to go to my PVR 350. When i try to record something no matter what channel i select in the tv guide to record it records whatever channel my cable box is currently on.

Is there any way to fix this or get around it so that it will record the correct channel?

Is it because i have digital cable?

I'm using GB-PVR as a replacement server side software for my MediaMVP and I love it. However, I don't use all the features and would like to remove them from the menu. This picture http://www.gbpvr.com/images/small-config2.jpg makes it look very easy, but I think that's an older version of the software. When I try to remove items now the boxes do not uncheck.

Any ideas?

I've been trying to get a home built PVR system working for a while now, and seem to be very close to getting it working with GBPVR. The system is based on a Hauppauge PVR250 and a Via EPIA M10000 running Windows XP MCE. We've had this problem on both GBVPR0227 and GBPVR02313, using the latest Hauppauge drivers (pvr250_22_22292).

When we try to watch LiveTV using GBPVR it fails with the error message "Error: Failure playing back file". From the various log files it seems to be a problem getting data from the TV card into the livetv file:

Running the Tuning Assistant shows similar errors in dialog boxes, but then successfully tunes into and displays some channels.

Following the suggestions of other posts on the forum we checked the direct.ini file against the pin names shown in graphedit but the pin names seemed largely correct. The only slight discrepancies were the reference to pinNameAnalogVidioIn in the error messages and PIN_CAPTURE_ANALOG_VIDIO_IN in the direct.ini, and the pin numbers before the pin names on the crossover filter shown in graphedit (e.g. 0: Video Decoder Out) which were missing in direct.ini (e.g. Video Decoder Out).

However changing direct.ini to try and correct these discrepancies didn't seem to have any effect on the error messages, in fact even deleting direct.ini didn't seem to have any effect.

Does anyone have any idea what the problem could be?

When the MVP starts up it says &quot;Contacting servers...&quot;, i.e., &quot;servers&quot; in plural. What happens if there are two machines running GB-PVR each with the MVP service running? Would the MVP give me a choice of which one to use?

Hi there, new to this board.

I've been poking around and seen some other users having trouble with video freezing or locking up. I just installed the lastest version of GB-PVR last night and was experiencing this problem. Some channels seemed fine while others would lock up video for over a few minutes, while the audio continued.

I also noticed the processor spiking when changing channels. Is this normal?

I have a PVR 150 and an Xcard.

I've been reading about my Zenith Digital Cable box, and apparently I have serial out on the box. I have a free serial connection on my PVR. How does controlling the box through the serial cable work? Will it even work?

After careful consideration, I've decided to go with the USB-UIRT to control my cable through GBPVR. I have a digital cable box by Zenith. Is all that I need is the USB-UIRT, or do I need some third-party software...like Girder. I don't really know about Girder, but I've heard it thrown around on some other boards.

Contrary to popular belief, I do know a thing or two about computers...but this seemingly simple thing is throwing me for a loop!

For about 24h I have struggled with GBPVR Video Library playback. The main issue was how to use subtitles for movies and how to maintain xvid/divx movies aspect ratio (as you know GBPVR by default stretches movies to 4:3). I've figured out it now:

*) Remove all mpeg4 codecs from windows (to avoid conflicts)
*) install ffdshow
*) from ffdshow codecs settings select xvid/divx/etc to be played back using libavcodec
*) for subtitle support enable &quot;subtitles&quot; from ffdshow and tick before search (using &quot;search in: .&quot
*) enable in ffdshow &quot;resize and aspect&quot;, tick in &quot;resize&quot; and using &quot;specify size&quot; new size as 800x600 for most cases is enough. Tick in &quot;resize always&quot; and &quot;keep original aspect ratio&quot;.
*) &quot;apply &amp; ok&quot; and run GBPVR and enjoy the show! :-)

Hi Everyone,
Sorry for the double post. I was wondering if anyone could offer me some advice or suggestions on debugging playback of divx movies (avi's and mpg's) via the TV-OUT of my PVR350. As of now, when I try to play the video's, the playback interface is shown but nothing plays. Playing them normally via my boards TV-OUT is fine.

I've searched the forum and it seems the advice ranges from trying various decoders, to toggling between vmr9 and/or overlay. I've also tried Cyberlinks decoders as well to no affect.

Latest GBPVR, haven't tried it using TV Guide, but via web interface EPG fails when reaching end of year and can't view any date and time from upcoming year.
