MVP Just Stops Within 10 Minutes
Posted by: Satnav4 - 2004-12-29, 04:53 AM - Forum: MVP & NMT - Replies (3)

I just tried the GBPVR MVP software, and I prefer it to the Hauppauge software. Unfortunately, after 10 minutes of watching, the picture froze. The file was an Mpeg recorded by a Hauppauge 150 set at 4800/6000. My setup is hardwired. I have no issues using the Hauppauge software, except for the red cast. I am running Maintenance release 23.13. No other processes were running, except perhaps the 150 recording a show. This has never been a problem before with the Hauppauge software.

Does anyone know the problem and the fix? I have a P4, 2.8, 800 fsb, 1 gig ram system using XP Home. I have no via chips in my MSI Neopfsr MB.

Thanks for any help.

S.

  Quality Profile Settings?
Posted by: cginzel - 2004-12-29, 01:18 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (8)

How is the Quality Profile Setting in the "Direct Recording Configuration" window supposed to be used?

If I select a setting like "Low Quality" and then click the Ok button and then re-open that dialog, it always goes back to "Medium Quality" regardless of what I select!

Is this just an interface to edit the seting for each of these profiles? If so, where do I specify which profile I want recordings to use?

  Nvidia decoder question
Posted by: footfukinmasta - 2004-12-29, 01:11 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (3)

I have Nvidia selected for the playback decoders and DVD decoders. When I go to play a dvd or recorded program the picture doesn't fill the whole screen. Is there any way to resize this through GB-PVR?

Thanks

  PVR-350 + Ati TV Wonder -- Possble?
Posted by: CoolSwoosh - 2004-12-28, 06:30 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (2)

Just got my GB-PVR up and running with PVR-350 using TV-Out, and it's working great.

I have a PCI Ati TV Wonder, and I am wondering if I can use this in the same box so I can record one program while watching another through the PVR-350?

I think it can be done simply through the config utility, but I am wondering if GB-PVR will know to use the PVR-350 tv-out to play back?

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks Guys!

  MyBlaster support
Posted by: davidwellsuga - 2004-12-28, 05:46 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (5)

i've been searcing around for a good IR blaster and I ran across something called the myblaster RF. it apparently transmits an IR signal and an RF signal to repeat the IR signal in another room. Do any of the myblaster products work with GBPVR. they supposedly support other INFERIOR versions of PVR software. their website states "...allows MyBlaster to be used with other PC PVRs such as ShowShifter, and should work with any app that uses irtuner.dll (originally intended to work with the Actisys device)."

Just wondering....

  Using a Remote Control?
Posted by: davidwellsuga - 2004-12-28, 04:58 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (11)

hey there to all...
I am new to the wide world of PVR'ing and I am wondering how I can change the channels on my PVR in GBPVR now that I've built the darn thing. In other words, I got her up and running but can't change the channel. I've read about IR blasters and something called Girder, but I'm a newbie to PVR'ing. I do have experience in building computers and servicing them however. Thanks for the help!

BTW,
I have digital cable but I am running off the analog signal as of right now. I don't know if it makes a difference.

  MPV misc questions....
Posted by: cginzel - 2004-12-28, 04:46 PM - Forum: MVP & NMT - Replies (17)

I've been using my MediaMVP wired to the host computer via my Linksys router (WRT54G) with little to no problems.

I've read several posts that had me a bit worried, but I need to move my MediaMVP to another TV set far away from any wired access... so I bought a wireless Linksys bridge (WGA54G).  All my wireless cards and the router are set to "G-only" mode and I'm only doing MAC filtering (no WEP).  For the most part, it seems to work (bridge/MediaMVP/TV and Router are all in the same room for testing), except that after about 2 minutes of streaming Live TV or recorded shows, the picture freezes and then the MediaMVP goes into contacting servers mode... it will find the server and I can go back to the show, but it will die each time within 2 minutes (sometimes faster).

Questions:

1) Does anyone know what may be causing this and have tips for eliminating it?
2) Does applying the latest Hauppauge "drivers" (at: ftp://ftp.shspvr.com/download/mediamvp/) affect GB-PVR usage in any way? And if so, which is considered the most appropriate/stable with GB-PVR?
3) I'm assuming that installing the drivers on the host PC and hard restarting the MediaMVP causes it to upload updates to the MediaMVP (when using Hauppauge's media server vs. GB-PVR), is that correct?

-Charles
